I couldn’t just stop myself at doing just digital composites with beauty shots and landscapes but also utilized flowers and bouquets I’ve shot over the years from weddings onto the alluring Arielle’s face! Lol. Here it is as well as a close up shot and there’s more to come! I selected a handful of faces from my Metallic Scheme series to do this on.
Violet.
And the last flower/bouquet digital composite photo collage on the lovely Paige using mostly flowers from the best Lord of the Rings themed wedding of Kayla and Nick that I shot! I'd love to do more of these because although it is a painstaking process, the outcome is so worth it.
Orange.
The marvelous Marissa with a flower/bouquet digital composite photo collage as well! She looks like such a fierce pink pixie lol. Used some shots from a few different weddings including Calista and Bailey’s which was one of my favorites.
Finally! The liquids/skulls version of The Metallic Scheme! For these human/non-human diptychs, I thought of royalty and how kings and queens are seen as something that’s godlike and immortal. I was watching Game of Thrones a lot at this time and was heavily inspired by one scene in episode 6 of season 1 where Viserys Targaryen gets “crowned” by Khal Drogo when he pours hot molten gold over his head, killing him instantly. So I wanted to do something that correlates to a series I’ve been working on called The Metallic Scheme while also trying to use up the hoard of supplies I have of gooey substances, glitter, and leaf.
The models each represent a metallic substance that’s revered to be precious, and special- gold, silver, and bronze. I wanted to work with a concept and theme that relates somehow to human/non-human which I hope is apparent yet also open enough for people to interpret as they will. Royals are seen as god-like and immortal but in the end, they all die like the rest of us humans. The gooey substances provoke the imagination to think that’s what could be under their skin inside of them instead of blood if they are really immortal and the animal skulls symbolize how these royals could indeed be non-human- some other fantastical creature instead. I didn’t want the models to be wearing crowns in the shots, just the colors of the crown they each represent, because I wanted it to symbolize how despite being of royal blood, obtaining the crown isn’t always attainable or achievable. That sometimes it could be too late or too close to the end of their time before they finally receive what’s rightfully theirs.
This is something I started my first year back in college and I'm proud to say that it's been published in 4 magazines. It will forever be one of my favorite shoots I've done in all of my time and this is what started the whole Metallic Scheme which is a series with 3 parts showcasing elaborate crowns, bow headpieces, and liquids with animal skulls and within each of those is 7 other parts- gold, silver, bronze, rose gold, red, white, and black. All of which have a concept and theme having to do with precious metals and royalty. I'm a little OCD, what can I say? Lol. Would like to give a big huge thank you to my lovely golden muse, Robin who is the prominent figurehead for all of the gold in the Metallic Scheme whereas the other metals and colors are switched up amongst different models with gold having the one consistent face to show it's importance. The talented Jess was the one who made this beautiful crown and it was just from me scrolling through my newsfeed on facebook that prompted me to ask her "hey, can I borrow that?" Lol. Hair styling was done by the amazing Amanda for this and I had the help of Laura, The Blackest Eyes, with makeup because while I did the basic glam look, she handled the messy bits with the gold leaf and honey. And I also couldn't have done this without the help of Charlie who lets me get away with anything in studio lol. Xoxo
