I was so lucky that Mexodus is doing another run, since I missed them the first time.
The live loop music is excellent. It's really fun to watch them do both music and foley live.
There's lights and projections too, I thought they were useful to the story. It is nooot epilepsy safe though.
The stage never felt empty (always my struggle with casts of like four or fewer), because the show is so energized and there's always a lot happening.
Both actors were wonderful. I hadn't expected them to play only two characters, I thought it would be like Come From Away or Mincemeat. But hanging out with just Carlos and Henry, in a buddy comedy (?), was really lovely.
They said in an interview that the story of a slave floating across the Rio Grande on a cotton bale was historical, whether real or apocryphal. I should look at what scholarship exists.
Also fuck I am overdue to learn spanish. There's a lot of bilingual parts, some translated to English and some not.

The Enrique scene was a delight. Also it echoed the "Jessica, only child, Illinois, Chicago" scene from Parasite, which is fun if it's a deliberate reference.
There's a song at the end in which they also loop in the sounds of the audience, I don't want to spoil it but it was excellent.
I want an album so bad, the music is so solid. And danceable! Rare for a musical. There was a slip in the program saying that they're getting an Audible recording, so we will have that.
