I find the big lessons come away from the writing workshop; life lessons concerning perseverance, hope, stamina, confidence, purpose. As I write and revise my novel thirty months later, realizing it needs a year or two in the cooker, and that my chances are slim of getting into that one school, I know that regardless of the committee's decision, the goal is the same. Keep writing. Keep writing. Keep writing. Speaking to a mentor yesterday he confided all his rejections in the past, two and three times over many years before he was admitted and now graduated from one of the best. Whatever you do, keep hoping. Keep writing. For that's what makes you a writer.
