The six o’clock news the night before had begun like any other, the CNH News introduction music playing and reporter Choi Jinhong waiting for his cue. As he shuffles his papers, however, the feed fades to a brilliant shining gold, the silhouette of a lynx replacing a human figure. For a moment, the sound distorts before a clear, fabricated voice begins to speak in a delicate, confident tone.
“Everything is not always quite what it seems. If you give man a knife, he will eventually lodge it firmly into your back. 25 years ago, Hydrus was formed. Now, in the present day, it will crumble.
To the KING of the Serpents, we ask you a question. How does it feel to know someone has been stealing information from right under your nose? To know Phoenix have always been one step ahead of you for a reason— That we are always one step ahead of Phoenix. Strategy, intelligence— Two things DRIFTER has never had. After all, if he did, he never would have gotten caught.

Behind the scenes, CNH staff scramble to regain control of the airwaves, and down in the offices, of their website, as an article containing the same speech goes live as soon as the clock hits six. Once Lynx has said all there is to say, the news continues as if it had never been interrupted— As if this isn’t the start of a war.
Drifter, Hydrus’ Second-In-Command is a traitor, and the entire island knows it.
Before the Sun can rise the following morning, the MPD make a statement foolishly insisting they will be able to control the investigation and aftermath of the events of Thursday night, however, with betrayal so close to home, King keeps his plans under wraps until the last minute.
A public execution.
Come all! Come and witness the fall of a traitor! 8:30 AM sharp, don’t miss it! Broad daylight with hundreds of commuters innocently passing by— It’s perfect.
Drifter stands, face bear for the island to see, to a pole in the centre of the open space in the heart of Yeongi. They’re surrounded by Hydrus soldiers, positioned to take hostages and prisoners to offset the chance that another gang will fight back, that Phoenix will rise from the ashes to protect their informant. The scene is chaos, screams heard in the next streets, as gunshots fire and blades glisten in the morning sun. At 8:45 AM, Drifter’s neck will be slashed by King himself for all to see, his body left to rot as Hydrus riot the city centre in pursuit of power and to reestablish the reputation Lynx have attempted to strip from them. Hold onto your loved ones, citizens; Hydrus are on a war path and nothing can stop them now.
WELCOME TO MI’S FIRST EVENT, MI:EXECUTION !
This post marks the true beginning of MI’s first event and we hope you’re as excited as we are to see everything unfold!
IC, this event takes place at 8:30 AM onward on Friday, June 14th, 2019. Lynx’s hack of CNH News’ broadcast and website happened at 6 PM on Thursday, June 13th, 2019.
OOC, the event lasts until Friday, July 5th, 2019, though you’re welcome to continue threads beyond this date if you wish.
To summarise, in response to Lynx revealing to the island that their SIC, Drifter, is a traitor working with Phoenix, Hydrus are publicly executing him and rioting throughout Yeongi. Around the site of the execution, Hydrus members will be taking hostages from the crowd in order to prevent MPD in particular from interfering. Can you survive the chaos?
To earn +3 points, write a four-post thread or 200+ word solo about your muse’s reaction to Lynx’s broadcast. They don’t need to have been watching the broadcast or seen the article when it went live, but the thread must include their reaction to it.
To earn another +3 points, write a four-post thread or 200+ word solo about the execution itself or the following riots over Yeongi.
You may write as many threads and solos as you want, of course, but you can only claim points for one thread/solo for each set of points. To count for points, the four posts for your threads, or your completed solos must be posted before the deadline.
At completion of this event on July 5th, Hydrus’ Second-In-Command position will be UNLOCKED. It’ll be available for those in Hydrus to purchase for 150 points as outlined on the points sideblog.
