And your getting a two-fer. I’m doing this one and a second for one of my original characters.
― your muse’s name:
Mia Shepard.
― one favourite picture / faceclaim of your muse:
I saw this image of Bella Thorne and knew she was my Mia.
― two headcanons you have for your muse:
1. Mia is a the lone survivor of the attack on her home planet of Mindoir. She was found in the rubble by David Anderson, who later becomes her legal guardian and father figure.
2. On Virmire Mia is convinced she can save both of her crew. She chooses to go after Ashley first. Unfortunately Mia is wrong and she loses the man she loved, Kaidan Alenko. Afterward she’s convinced love isn’t meant for her in this life....until she meets James Vega.
― three things that your muse likes doing in their free time:
Mia loves to write She keeps a journal and writes some fiction. She also enjoys a good book. Mia took martial arts in the aftermath of Mindoir and fell in love with it.
― seven people your muse loves/likes:
James Vega, David Anderson, Garrus, Joker, Tali, Kahlee, Dr. Chakwas, and she’ll always love Kaidan.
― a phobia your muse has:
Losing someone else that she loves. She’s lost to many people already. Mia isn’t sure she’d survive another loss.
I had the pleasure of writing for the @thedivinemissema for the @masseffectholidaycheer! I chose to write Mia and Zaeed because I am a sucker for Shep/Zaeed! I hope you enjoy it! It is under the cut because of length! Fair warning since it is Zaeed, there is a lot of cursing.
What do you get the most badass woman in the galaxy for her birthday? Zaeed drummed his fingers on the table in front of him as that question drifted through his mind. He wanted it to be as special as Mia was, but hadn’t a fucking clue where to start. God damn it. Can take down fucking Reapers with her but can’t pick out a fucking present? Pathetic. The online messaging boards suggested lingerie and while he enjoyed the thought of Mia draped in silk and lace, it would be more for him than her. Though, he did put in an order for a lacy little scrap of cloth from the store. It never hurt to be too prepared.
It still left the problem of what would Mia Shepard want for her birthday. Inspiration struck as he watched an asari and human walk by hand in hand. He furiously tapped off emails and messages, laced with expletives, until he got replies. He sent one last one off to Mia, asking her to meet him at Zakera Ward for dinner. He sent one last email off to a few of their old crewmates and asked them to keep the perimeter free of enemies for dinner. Garrus had been highly amused by the email and had teased the mercenary. What’s wrong? Think highly trained mercenaries would attack Shepard in the same restaurant twice? Okay, you know what… Yeah, I can see that happening. I’ll call in a few favors from Bailey.
Mia burst out into laughter as she saw the restaurant Zaeed was taking her to. Disbelief lit her face along with the flashing neon lights of the ward. She looked too goddamn gorgeous for him, but he was damned if he’d let her go now. “You’re seriously going to take me here? Are you sure I don’t have a lifetime ban?” She straightened and put her hand on his arm. She wore the little black dress that always raised his blood pressure with the way it hugged her body. The woman was a fucking treasure. The sushi restaurant had rebuilt after the war and has invested in bullet resistant glass. The maître’d glanced at Shepard suspiciously but wisely refrained from saying anything with the glaring hulk of a mercenary standing beside her.
“I have to ask how you managed to get reservations here. It’s still as popular as it was before.” Mia grinned as she opened the menu.
“You have well connected friends.” Shepard laughed, a bright sound that always lightened Zaeed’s mood. It was so rare to hear it and he treasured each memory. Ugh, getting fucking sentimental in my old age. They ordered, and Mia joked about having a quiet dinner without bullets flying.
“Sounds fucking boring.” Mia’s eyes crinkled at the edges as she stifled the laughter threatening to spill free. He liked seeing her like that, relaxed and happy. It had been a long goddamn road for them, and if anyone deserved to be happy it was the woman sitting across from him.
“You’re right. Want to hit up the arena after this? Bet I get a higher score than you.” Zaeed scoffed at the idea but then an interesting image presented itself. He mulled it over as they ate dinner, to be sure of himself before he asked her. It was a short walk to the arena, and that same fucking set of initials were there. Aria T’Loak was one badass bitch, and he doubted anyone could beat her score. Except maybe Shepard, but Shepard treated it as the game it was.
“Got a proposition for you Mia.” Zaeed told her as they met on the simulated battlefield. Mia tilted her head as she waited for him to continue. “If I get the higher score you have to wear what’s sitting on your bed.” Mia snorted as she remembered seeing the scraps of lace that were designed to not cover anything.
“And if I get the higher score you have to admit I’m a better shot.” Zaeed grumbled. “On camera so I’ll have it forever.” He protested at first but agreed. They went to cover as the first wave of enemies popped up. The two were evenly matched as they plowed through their enemies.
The buzzer sounded the end of the match and they glanced at the scoreboard. Mia edged him out by three points. She cheered and pressed a kiss to his cheek as he pulled his helmet off. Zaeed grumbled as they headed back to the apartment. He was fucking pissed that he’d lost. He wasn’t mad at Mia, but he kept replaying his mistakes over on the trip there. He kept most of his complaining to himself, it was her birthday and he wouldn’t want to ruin it for her.
“I’ll be down in a minute Zaeed. Then I want my prize.” Mia grinned at him as she disappeared up the stairs. He pulled off his armor and grabbed two drinks out of her fridge. He heard her footsteps coming down the stairs as he sat on the sectional couch watching the vid screen.
“Are you ready?” Mia stepped up behind him and put her omni-tool camera up in front of him. Her face was next to his, that fucking beautiful face. Zaeed knew the karma stuff was a load of bullshit. No way someone like him would ever get so lucky to have Mia fucking Shepard to be with him. He rolled his eyes and nodded.
“I, Zaeed Massani, admit that Mia Shepard is the better fucking shot.” Zaeed was many things but he was a man of his goddamn word.
“Was that so hard?” Mia asked as she straightened and rounded the corner of the couch. She wore one of his shirts and curled up on his lap. It hitched up on her thighs and distracted him. Which was likely her purpose. He slid his hand up her thigh until his fingers brushed lace, then his curiosity got the better of him. He lifted her shirt and his breath stuttered in his chest as he saw the lacy panties he’d bought on her.
“I may have decided to give you a reward for taking me to the sushi place again. Pretty sure the entire staff held their breath until we left.” Mia giggled as she pressed her lips against the scarred side of his face. She laughed as he scooped her up. “Careful Massani. Aren’t you too old to be doing that?”
“I’ll show you old.” He growled in her ear as he headed for the stairs.
