the encanto fandom did their due diligence for the warm siblings and gave them mostly nice/good characterization with each other and on their own and i just

don't know what the hell happened when it came to the madrigal sisters i am DYING for good content for them that isn't bashing any of them like pLEASE

heya, sorry for being a bit late answering this, my brain has not been working coherently for the past couple of days

but yes, for real!!! it's really wild how the warm siblings, the ones who unfortunately don't have much content and screen time on them in the movie, are given mostly nice and good characterization, while the cool sisters who have so much screen time and content and backstory to them, are the ones left in the dust and are the ones paying the price that is ooc-ness

like, where is the respect and love for them too?? genuinely want to scream out loud about this (not to say there isn't any respect and love for them, obviously, because there are, but even back then when i wasn't in the fandom and wasn't even familiar with the movie itself, i saw the very obvious attention disparity between the cool family and the warm family, which ofc affected quite a lot of things, like the characterizations for example)

but then again, maybe just as it may seem wild, the fact of screen time could also be the reason as to why the warm siblings have the more or less good characterization in the first place, because the fandom sort of have more freedom to create the characters based on what little is already known from content we have and what they'd personally like about the character

and for the cool sisters, some people either don't like what they saw in the movie (*cough* isa *cough*) or are projected a little too hard on (*cough* mirabel *cough*) or just straight up don't get content in general by the fandom (*cough* luisa *cough*), which led a good portion of the fandom to completely and unfortunately decimate their characters and characterizations

which is. frustrating as hell

AND GOD YES, good content for the madrigal sisters are so hard to find that i am practically on my knees pleading for something that isnt ooc or bashing/hating on them

ngl, im honestly really glad that i joined recently and not during the peak years of the fandom, because i know i wouldn't be surviving back then when the sort of disparity was likely worse 😭

sigh, trying to find good content is so hard and frustrating

i love all of these kids so much, but PLEASE where is the respect for the cool sisters, encanto fandom 😔

Oooh, well, overall, bashing of characters (especially the ones that lead to complete OOCness because bruh), proshipping (fuck that shit), and smut (I'm uncomfortable with writing and reading this personally)

I'm not sure if there are others I forgot to mention but those are the ones off the top of my head

🍍: What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

I generally like all AUs as long as the premise and summary of the fic is interesting!! As long as it hooks me in some way, I don't mind

Don't really have beef or hate for any particular AU, not unless the AU's aim is to only bash characters in some way

🫐: What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)

What does one consider as underrated in Encanto?

Characters and various things probably considered underrated in this fandom are not considered underrated in my head because of how I think about them so much, so I'm not actually sure HASFUHASF

Plus I don't think it helps that I never really was in the fandom when it was in an all time high, and my hyperfixation only skyrocketed around three to four months ago

Oh well, I guess I can mention Casita, love Casita sm <33

🍐: Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…

Well, this is another tough one, considering how Encanto is from Mirabel's pov which means it makes sense that some things aren't shown on screen, but even then, I think I still would have loved to see more dynamics and relationships between all the Madrigals, like a conversation between Isabela and Luisa for example (we saw them individually with Mirabel but not with each other—their moment in All of You is not enough 😔)

So it's less fix and more of explore in this case, especially since the only concrete canon we have are the movie and some comics and books

Though another thing I would love to fix are the misunderstandings, not in fics actually but rather with other people's perceptions and takes with the movie, because so many people miss several points completely in some way that it physically pains me every time, the "media literacy, where are you" type of thing

But I digress

My bad for the late answer! Here we go:

🥭 Rank from most enjoyable/fun to write to least: Fluff, Smut, Angst, Crack.

Definitely Angst, Fluff, Crack, then Smut

I'd argue angst and fluff are tied, with crack being second only because I don't actually know how to write it intentionally (or more accurately, if the thing I write is even funny at all), but if I had it my way, it'd be a three way tie because I love all of them so much and it's fun to write for all of them when I can

And then there's smut—as mentioned before, I'm personally uncomfortable writing it, not to mention I don't even know how to 💀

🍇 Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?

Oooh, this is an interesting one...I'm not fully sure if there's a specific one off the top of my head, as I just go with vibes and ideas out of the blue for the things I write

Though I guess Casita's fall scene and my love for the cool sisters spawned that one time travel au I thought about with how the two older cool sisters get sent back to the past after going back for Mirabel as Casita falls and protecting her, but I haven't made any progress with it recently

I also have this funny thing when I enter a new fandom, I sort of have a rite of passage every time of me thinking "is it possible to throw these characters into the underground of Undertale?" that tells me I'm really in deep in a media, hence why the Encanto Undertale AU exists right now

And on a more general note, anything that I'm hyperfixated on will usually always have ideas zooming in and attempting to form, like Encanto is right now

Case in point: my 235 page document of a (super super) self indulgent Encanto AU I'm planning right now (when will Mic ever shut up about this AU? Who knows!)
