Valley Girl (1983)
Queen Martha Coolidge's delightful, quietly brilliant (and subversively feminist) spin on Romeo and Juliet is a swoonworthy romp through early 80s Los Angeles, which feels like one of the few teen comedies that seems to accurately capture the sweetness and banality of falling in love when you're young. Stars real-life lovers Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage (his first film under his now-famous stage name) and set to a never-topped alt pop soundtrack. When that iconic "I'll Stop the World and Melt With You" needle drop hits, it tugs directly on your heart strings.
Director: Martha Coolidge
Cinematographer: Frederick Elmes
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Deborah Foreman, Elizabeth Daily, Cameron Dye, Michael Bowen, Michelle Meyrink, Lee Purcell, Richard Sanders, Colleen Camp, and Frederic Forrest

While watching the "LOST" Season Three episode, "Not in Portland", I noticed something about James Ford aka "Sawyer". In the scene where he and Kate Austen were making their escape from the Hydra Island cages, Sawyer grabbed hold of Other Danny Pickett and continuously banged his head on this circular trigger in retribution for Pickett's earlier bullying. Kate had to pull Sawyer off so they could make their escape.
Watching Sawyer bang Pickett's head like that made realize how incredibly petty and vindictive he could be. For as long as I can remember, he always wanted revenge for even the most minor slight to himself. Sawyer knew how to dish out the pain to others, but he never knew how to take it. Even less so than many other characters. This is why Sawyer has NEVER been a favorite character of mine. As for Pickett . . . he was the same way. He and Sawyer had very similar personalities.
All Cheerleaders Die
Summary: High schooler Maddy (Caitlin Stasey) tries out for the cheerleading team to avenge the death of her friend Alexis (Felisha Cooper), but soon finds that the other girls are not the biggest threat to her existence.
Fun little horror comedy that totally has nothing to say about high school football culture and its effects on girls.
Rating: 3.5/5
