Okay but Michael feeding his people as a form of affection is such a poor kid thing? When you’re poor, more often than not, food is the only tangible thing you own that’s sharable. It’s Michael’s go to when he’s worrying over Alex because he knows how valuable it is to have food around especially when you’re busy or sick.

And we all know he can cook so it seems impractical that he keeps spending what little extra cash he has on buying food, but that’s simply his love language magnified. Cooking for the person you love is sweet and romantic and Michael will do that a lot for Alex I’m sure, but this small, sacrificial act that seems to be the “easier” of the two is actually incredibly meaningful too.

(Also please, as kids how many times do you think they got food from the Crashdown to eat out in the desert?? TOO MANY PROBABLY. Crashdown take out is their thing.)

I’ve been thinking about Michael and about how, overall, I dislike him as character, but one of the main reasons I do is because he seeming overwrites the growth that Lucifer made in S4. 

Now, the Lucifer writers are super guilty of rehashing already trodden paths with their characters. Maze herself has redone the same character arc since s1, so Lucifer going through the same progression he’s made before isn’t unlikely. (look no further than s3) but then I had a realization. 

Let me set this up.

In S4, Lucifer has a conversation with Ella and a therapy session with Linda in which he makes the realization he’s been blaming his father for things that are his own responsibility. That it isn’t some big manipulation game, but that Lucifer is culpable for his own actions. This leads him to certain decisions in the finale, choosing to leave and take up his throne to protect the ones he loves. Right? but in s5 this assumption is rendered inert, because apparently there IS a malicious, manipulative force behind Lucifer’s circumstances. 

Enter Michael. 

Michael alleges that he’s responsible for everything. For nudging Lucifer into rebellion, for getting Lucifer sent to Hell and quite possibly, for the devil’s bad reputation on earth. (How many times has he taken on his brother’s name while on earth? How many of those pictures Kinley offered as proof the devil was evil were really Michael?) 

But then it occurred to me. Perhaps this is not the regression and ignoring of progress I fear it to be. Michael’s power is Fear. Fear that doesn’t leave you even when you know better. Such as Linda and Amenadiel’s fear for Charlie, Chloe’s fear of Lucifer not being as invested in their relationship....and Lucifer’s fear of being manipulated. All issues where they should know better, probably do know better, but since when is fear logical? 

Maybe Michael is the unseen force behind Lucifer’s behavior, or maybe Michael is simply praying on those fears. I’m hopeful that Lucifer’s character growth in S4 won’t be ignored and will hopefully play a part in how his interactions with his Father develop. Only the rest of the season can tell.

Having had some time to digest Episode 3, Point of Light, something that sticks with me is how damned pissed I am at Amanda. (Spoilers under cut.)

Quite apart from her being pretty cold towards Michael what I can’t handle is her condemnation of Michael for what Michael did as a child to keep Spock safe.

Was what she did good? No. But it made sense from a child’s point of view, a child who was already deeply traumatized by the murder of her parents, deaths she blames herself for. Not only is there a normal case of survivor’s guilt in this case, she and her parents were only there because Michael wanted to see a star go supernova. If they’d only left for Mars the way her parents had planned to they would have been alive.

How many times don’t you think that Michael blamed herself for that? It’s clear even as an adult she’s not passed that guilt.

And now Spock is in danger of being murdered, because of her. Don’t you think any child would do anything to protect a found brother that she loves from getting killed? A child who can’t have been much more than 10 or 11 tops. A small girl who’s desperately trying to protect her brother. With foster parents who apparently do not see her worries or care about them.

And Amanda who’s human, who should have understood how a human child would react to all of this. Who apparently was close and claims to have been loving to her foster daughter yet saw nothing, or did nothing about what she saw. And now she dares condemn Michael?

If Point of Light has a theme it’s ‘failed mothers’. Mirror!Philippa. L’Rell. And Amanda Grayson too. Who not only failed her son, but who failed her daughter just as badly yet now condemns her for it? I hope Amanda gives Michael an apology in a later episode, because boy does she owe her one after this.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate the friendship between Isobel and Michael?? They love each other so unconditionally and accept every quirk and flaw with absolutely no judgment*.

I mean, Isobel killed someone (they didn't know about Noah then) and Michael's instinct was to protect her at all costs. Michael's tried to leave them (emotionally) again and again, but Isobel pulls him back every time.

Plus, Isobel absolutely ships Malex, but her OTP is Michael/Happiness. She's known about Alex from the beginning, but had never made Michael feel anything but supported. Even with him leaving during the song, I appreciate that she didn't try to convince him to stay because Michael is secure that there's a journey he and Alex still need to take separately and Isobel saw that and respected it.

Their friendship is golden and I love them.

That’s what Michael says Sylvia when she’s trying to figure out what is happening and who, or rather what. “May” is.

But think about those words for a second, about how Michael’s face goes from smiling to seeming to barely keeping back tears as she goes on, “I know, I’m a xenoanthropologist”, trying to joke about it, make light of the situation.

Michael who was crying moments before, Michael who were herself a teenage girl once. Michael who was so alone on Vulcan, even more so after having driven Spock away. For his safety, she told herself. So he’d live. So he wouldn’t be in danger because he was close to her and half-Vulcan himself.

But oh that must have hurt. Knowing she’s had a friend in this lonely place, a friend her own age and now she didn’t. Couldn’t. Because he would be in danger if they were.

What if seeing them is tied to being exposed to the mycelium spores?

I mean, Staments seen one and now so has Tilly.

Lorca exposed Michael to the spores in S1E3 she’s been in contact with them since too, like with Ripper... so if seeing “ghosts” is tied to spore exposure... then who’s she going to see?

Her parents?

The classmates who died in the terrorist attack?

Philippa?

A theory about how semi-possession affected Michael

Ok so I need first of all, I need you to first read this meta I wrote time ago about season 14 and the parallel with Purgatory.

Now that you read it, you will understand about some strange not so strange things we saw in 14x09.

Ok, it caught my attention in the mid season episode that Michael looked very very nervous... And was drinking a lot...

So this was the DEAN'S OLD TOXIC BEHAVIOR, and when I saw i screamed, that's bc the Possession!

Is like Michael kept all the toxicity from Dean and Dean was purified by it, as I predicted in the meta you readed.

We were talking with our crazy spec team @magnificent-winged-beast @emblue-sparks and @mrsaquaman187 about a possible kind of "transfer" between Dean and Michael.

But I wanted to say too, that I saw Michael in a worst shape for this. He was anxious, nervous, drinking a lot. Not knowing certainly what he really wanted. Bc I assume it had to be very distressful for him not being able to complete the bond with Dean.

That's why we saw him in the firsts episodes going everywhere asking people WHAT DO YOU WANT?

That's why we saw Dean so transformed in this first half of the season. He was Healing!Dean. The character growth was huge, he was trying so hard expressing his emotions, talking about the L word, pretty big improvement of character.

Michael couldn't find out what Dean wanted, bc he was resisting him

Not to be able to dig to the bottom of Dean's thoughts led him to find out through the Hunter's eyes by leaving his body.

We know Michael left Dean's body bc we wanted to, bc he needed to find out what Dean wanted. And he used the information he had... He thought this time he could complete the Possession.

He knew x sure about the strong bond with his brother and his family...

So, he left Dean's body BC HE DELIBERATELY DECIDED THAT, bc he couldn't find out what Dean's really wanted! BC HE NEEDS TO BREAK HIM TO SUMMON HIM.

So, Michael made research, observation, he saw TFW ties and dynamic. He saw that killing him will make Dean happy so...

He said to himself... I got him! I'M GONNA BRING ALL THE TFW/FAMILY THING HERE AND MAKE HIM BELIEVE HE CAN KILL ME, THEN... I WILL HUMILIATE HIM AND BREAK HIM AND POSSESSING HIM AGAIN.

But Michael doesn't know that he has not the complete information here, he is missing the PROFOUND BOND, and Cas has the "decoder ring" from a blue box of cereal with a bear on it... 😏 (Remember the "He is like a angry bear when he sleeps" thing said by Cas?? Oh yeah... I do...) Thanks @casbiotic !!!

And at this point you need to read my other theory about Michael ignoring the PROFOUND BOND, the surprise factor!

So through this "open line" that isn't news for us... Remember this scene from 5x03?

When Dean and Cas were to find Raphael catatonic vessel? CAS said there was an open line between an Archangel and his vessel!

Damn open line... he found out about TFW.

Is Michael a lonely villain?

So with my team .. we are trying to figure out what's going on with Michael...

He went with a similar speech given by Lucifer to

Jack...

Lucifer trying to get Jack's company and powers, offering travel through galaxies.

Michael did the same thing, he offered Jack power, and talked about time.

And here laid the power, manipulate the TIME AND SPACE.

But behind Michael's words we could see he really wanted a partnership with Jack, he said WE ARE FAMILY.

Is Michael affected by Dean's knowledge and feelings about family too? Is he looking at himself as a lonely creature? Is he longing for family too? Does he wants what Dean has??

Which kind of past are he hiding? It has to be with family issues?

My friends and I are eating our own brains with all this questions... Bc... If he isn't such a bad guy then... He... Maybe... Maybe Michael, he...

🙄...

So dramatic... It suits Michael perfectly...

The question is... What do you want, Michael?

You want a show? A spotlight over your head? The best wardrobe you can find? The 6 stones of the Galaxy? Explore Jensen acting skills? WHAT?? WHAT DO YOU WANT!?

Ok... Sorry...

So, at first sight, he could be a selfish, full of himself, nasty, sociopath villain, but isn't that just the surface?

Maybe we are wrong, we don't know... What we DO KNOW, is that the semi-possession play against him, and now he is carrying with all of Dean's toxicity.

I hope we could get to know his past and his truly intentions... At least don't even Michael knows what his Intentions are... 😔 And he ended to be just another megalomaniac enemy.
