We really don't discuss late 90s/early 2000s Phantom in Germany enough. These kisses and final lairs were giving us everything. That production also had arguably the deepest bench of Phantom actors. (Three of these gifs are u/s or alt Phantoms.) Left to right:
David Hunerjaeger/(Huneryager?) & Vlentina Khozhanova, POTO Hamburg 1999
Ian Jon Bourg & Olivia Safe, POTO Hamburg 2001
Michael Nicholson & Olivia Safe, POTO Hamburg 2001
Thomas Schulze & Maike Switzer, POTO Stuttgart 2004
my favorite creepy deliveries of "you try my patience," ordered to become increasingly more unhinged

Phantoms
August 27, 1967: ITN’s Michael Nicholson reports on the death of Brian Epstein outside Epstein’s Belgravia home.
“He was found in his second floor bedroom just after 2 o’clock this afternoon by his housekeeper. She said it was his habit to sleep late at weekends, especially if he’d had a tiring or perhaps upsetting week at work. She said that all yesterday he spent the day at home, and yesterday evening, which was unusual for him. Mr Epstein has been unwell now for some months, and he’s been in the habit of taking tablets to help him sleep at night. Only recently, just over a month ago, he was further upset by the sudden death of his father. Friends have been trying to persuade him in the last few days to take a long holiday. But only yesterday he told one of them ‘I feel on top of the world.’
Just over half an hour ago, a friend - friends have been here all afternoon and evening - they’ve been paying visits to the house to see his lawyer, Mr. David Jacobs, and one of them left half an hour ago and said to people around, ‘It was an accident, a terrible and stupid accident.’”

Phantom Acting Choices That Live in My Head Rent Free (Part 2)
The way Hugh Panaro says "sing for me" during the title song. Extra emphasis on the ME, like this man knows Christine doesn't sing for anyone else like this--especially not that insolent boy.
Tim Martin Gleason's emotionally regulating self-hug.
David Shannon plays the Phantom like his skull exposure is actually vulnerable/causes him chronic pain.
Earl Carpenter directs tf out of Christine's voice during the title song in his '06 run. Gospel choir director energy, but make it sex.
Phantoms kneeling during the Don Juan AIAOY reprise. (Looking at you David Thaxton and Hugh P.)
Every acting decision Gina Beck makes in the final lair.
There's a boot (I think 1995?) where Davis Gaines pauses after he says "this is the choice" and he actually realizes he's gone off the deep end and "this is the point of no return" fr.
Michael Nicholson's deranged laugh turned sob. So sad, so disturbed.
Gary Mauer says like 4-5 ily's in the final lair like he can't stop now that he's uttered it aloud. And the more the merrier imo lol.
