Who’s ready to see Rey unleash her supreme badassedness upon The First Order? I am. And this rad artwork by @michaelpasqualeart definitely sets the mood! Look for this amazing print and many many others in Michael’s book, which releases this summer!
The character of Rey is so interesting to me. I like to think that her connection to the force is so intense and strong that it takes an infinitesimal amount of effort and energy for her to tap into it, which helps to explain her very shortened time frame in which to learn and master skills that would take even the most gifted Jedi years to grasp. I think this is somewhat evident in how overwhelmed she is initially when she’s made aware of just how gifted and special she truly is.
And I also like to theorize, when asked if I think she’s the strongest or most gifted of any force user in history, that she’s risen to a level where her use of and understanding of the force is predicated upon the skill and threat of the adversary that she needs to defeat. She’s like an all-knowing vessel of wisdom and ability, but only accesses and deploys that which she requires. So, is she more advanced than Anakin in his prime? My belief is that if she was forced to confront him, yes, she would defeat him. But, all things relative, I think she’s just where she needs to be to defeat Kylo Ren.
No matter what, this next movie is certain to show us some pretty incredible stuff and I just hope the fans are open minded enough to accept and enjoy where it takes us.
