a woman behind a counter in boston yesterday asks me:

"how many months are you?"

"sorry?"

she points at my stomach.

"how many months are you?"

"pregnant? i'm no months pregnant. but i had a baby like three years ago. does that count?"

she waved her hands in apology.

i like to think that it wasn't a coincidence that this happened to me about 5 hours before i released this little 7-minute film i've been working on (for the last 7 months) about how we re-wire our own feelings about our bodies - how we see them, how others see them, how we see others see them...

....about how our relationships to our own bodies get rewired after going through hell.

two nights ago i posted this super-personal video, "REWIRED": the first of a series of “patron journal vérité” mini-films, for my patrons only. it was scripted by me and directed by michael pope.

i didn't really feel like making this video open to the public for now.

Crimea, by Bryan Perrett. What I've always found interesting about this war is that most of my knowledge of it has come from reading about Florence Nightingale and her contemporary Mary Seacole. Though I had heard of various battles and the Charge of the Light Brigade, I really didn't know the logistics of them until this book.

There is, unsurprisingly, a bit about Nightingale in the story part, but just the briefest mention of her in the historical note. They didn't even include a portrait of her or any other notable figures, as they often do in this series.

Interstate takes place in Dublin’s East Side Tavern

A new club-night concept will attempt to widen or re-awaken your music discovery in Dublin this Weekend, as Interstate kicks off the sounds of American cities to track your night.

“Explore the musical peaks and valleys of the US of A, no visa necessary” to quote the collective behind it. Running weekly from the Saturday 24 September, all taking place in Leeson Street’s  East Side Tavern.

The line-up for the first four nights will see Today FM’s Kelly-Anne Byrne, music blogger Nialler9 and Le Galaxie frontman Michael Pope,.
