MacGyver AU choices
Okay, we're talking about a 40 year old show, so I don't expect responses to pour in. But what alternate directions/choices do you think it would be fun to explore?
As I've said in last few days, I have a few
Alternate route for Nikki's character and keep her around - inconsistent characterization means I prefer shortly after (or even before) her introduction instead after her last episode
Keeping Mike Forrester alive - first Mike only, with her not in love with MacGyver, and then she and Jack and Mac could have some more adventures
A good death story for Murdoc. Not sure how to pull it out, but there should be great story for it.
Michael Thornton not going bad. I hated that and the character was unrecognizable (even worse than Mike Forrester). Let him go to college and ultimately end up with a job where he's home with his kiddos every night.
A revisit from Lisa Allen ("Nightmares"). She had guts and improvisations ability. She could end up a great recruit for the Phoenix Foundation. Or the DXS, since Mac was still with them when she showed up and she got a government scholarship.
A revisit from Kate Lafferty ("Ugly Duckling") - another character with potential and guts, though she might be more difficult to manage and unsuited to having a boss (then again, who knows how she would change after growing up some).
Not really AU, but I'd like to sprinkle in "little brother" Reggie a bit here and there. Doesn't need to be in an adventure.
Pete not going blind. I completely get how some wouldn't like that, given real-world circumstance, but it does take away the possibility of really putting Pete in much action, and that's a shame. Though one can always tell stories set earlier.
Due to the abuse Mike experienced in his past home, he doesn't deem Shelleys behaviour as "abusive". Shelley never beat him or screamed at him or told him he was worthless. He genuinely thinks Shelley is a good friend who treats him right.
If he had befriended others he would've grew up SO DIFFERENTLY but he was too scared at the time and Shelley js took advantage of that and convinced him that everyone else hated him and Shell was the only one who actually liked him.
i commisioned someone to draw my oc/sona and shelley🥳
the characterization of them is a bit off but its still super cute
! i dont ship these romantically ! to get that clear. in my head shelley is fully aroace and experiences no romantic attraction to anyone. and mike isnt into him he just REALLY likes him as a friend
