leaned against his doorway, michael’s lips are drawn into a purse. his eyes show regret, softness, in an otherwise expressionless face. “it’s better if you don’t care,” he explains with manufactured certainty. fingers scratch at his eyebrow, he deflates with a sigh. “maria, something’s always happening to me. something is always going to. you’re better off not worrying about it.”

“Someone has to care about you. Someone has to take care of you. Space boy, you don’t get to decide what’s better for me. I’ve tried not caring. I suck at it. Call me a sappy girl from a chick flick, but the thought of losing you hurts more than I ever can express,” she spouted, already tears came to her eyes. Annoyed, Maria brushed them away. “Something is always going to be happening to everyone. That’s life. Get used to it. We can’t stop living just because stuff happens.”

Okay. I’m not going to get too excited.

But I have been waiting to see some good interactions between Michael and Maria since the Pilot. And now that they’ve had this nice little moment I’m ready to see how the relationship between Maria and Michael develops. While I know that a lot of people (or at least the most vocal) ship Michael and Alex, I don’t really care. Michael and Maria were my favorite couple on the original series, so that’s the relationship I’ve wanted to see the most whether it be romantic or platonic (although I would like to see it turn romantic if the opportunity presents itself).

I also want to see more of Maria in general. I just have this feeling that she’s going to be a great character if they don’t sideline her. I’m exited for them to explore her life more and her mom’s too, especially after this episode. So cheers to that! 

By the way, this version of Michael and Maria need a (friend/romantic) ship name/tag (Mariel? Derin? Miria? Miluca? MariaxMichael?) so those of us who are interested in them know where to go. 

Edit: I searched the tags and saw that Mariel and Miria are established tags that Michael and Maria posts would get lost in. Derin is an established tag, too, and MichaelxMaria refers to the original series couple. Miluca isn’t taken and neither is MariaxMichael. I’ll be using those two for now. Hopefully they stick!
