Aw, Mick.
thinking about prof. mick aston’s sweater collection today
I always thought Mick Aston wasn't on Time Team after 2012 because he died. But he actually quit the year before he died unexpectedly, because the producers had fired/sort-of fired Stewart, Helen and Victor for not being sexy enough, and hired a lady in tight pants to be a new cohost.
Her name is Mary-Anne Ochota. She is a model / presenter with an anthropology degree. I for some reason have never actually seen a Series 19 episode so I don't know anything else about it.
I mean, this isn't her fault, and I don't want to be a dick. But this sort of only works as a show where a bunch of awkward nerds and Phil Harding try to explain what pottery is to Tony as he squeals and bounces around. Shaking up the format at that point to bring in the sports dads seems like a lame idea.
Everyone apparently agreed and they canned the whole show soon after. The later serieses are specials or some new e-begging thing on YouTube.
I'm going to go watch a Series 19 episode to see if it is indeed any sexier than just Phil Harding in cutoffs.
I found a few time team memes

He’s got matching fingerless gloves this time! I got a few replies from my previous post saying that he’s noted for his knitwear, that the sweaters were made by his fans. Thanks to @sandraugiga and @alchemistdoctor for the feedback!
Someone in the yt comments said this episode aired in 2001, so I decided to check wiki. Alas, Aston passed away in 2013. I’m late to the news and to this show, as I’m American. While I never liked the 3-day time limit format on tv shows, I would’ve loved to have seen this show when it originally aired. Hell, if I still had cable, I’d watch it. I mean, that’s exactly what I’m doing now... just on youtube.
