Hiya, pals! It’s Pete Day here at Mickey Mondays because it’s Pete Day on this week’s House of Mouse episode! If you’ve never joined us for a Mickey Mondays post, it’s super simple! Every week we grab a different Mickey and Friends plush and watch a piece of Mickey and Friends animation! We’re big Pete fans around here, so you know we’re going to have fun with “Pete’s One-Man Show!”
The Animation: Pete gets to do an entire one-man show on this classic House of Mouse episode, but surprise, surprise, no one shows up. This leaves Mickey and the gang with no choice but to fake the audience and applause while Pete treats us to, uh, a very interesting performance.
Pete is one of my favorite Disney characters, so I love that he got a full episode of House of Mouse. Not only is a fantastic antagonist in the wraparound animation, but he’s a big part of two of the three shorts featured in this episode. “Pinball Mickey” is easily my favorite, featuring Mickey becoming obsessed with a Peg Leg Pete pirate pinball game. So much so, he imagines himself fighting obstacles to defeat an actual pirate Pete and rescue Minnie! I always wish we had more action animation like this featuring Mickey. It reminds me a little of Runaway Brain, and you know how much I love that one!
The other two shorts are excellent, with “Von Drake’s House of Genius: Time Reverser” and “Housesitters” in particular offering Mickey, Donald, and Goofy feuding with Pete over an outhouse of all things. It’s a pretty silly premise, but I could watch Mickey and the gang square off against Pete for an entire movie, let alone this brief, visually clever short!
“Pete’s One Man Show” ends in disaster for Pete, but at least his grandma seems to be having a good time. You can watch this classic House of Mouse episode for free on YouTube! If you’re like me, you’re not going to be surprised when Pete, convinced by Mickey and Minnie and the gang pretending Pete’s one-man show even had an audience, opens his own venue down the street. By the end of the episode, well, you’ll see. It goes about as well as you’d expect.
The Plush: If we’re going to spotlight Pete for this week’s Mickey Mondays cartoon, obviously we’re going to do that for this week’s Mickey Mondays plush, as well! I found this Itty Bittys Steamboat Willie Pete plush, and goodness, I’ll have to put this little guy on my wishlist! Despite Pete being one of my favorite Disney characters, I don’t have a single plush! I’ll have to change that one of these days.

It's been another week of ficlets for me this week. I've hardly done any reading - feels like 😕The good news is I've finished them all! There were 30 in total - I can't believe it! 30 of them and about 19k words, I think? I have learned that I really can't stick to 500 words. So sue me! 😂 The remaining ones are all scheduled to post throughout the week next week because... I'm away! I'm taking my caravan (named Bucky 🦾) away for the week with the kiddos. This year for my birthday way back in February, I created the Valentine's Lovebomb.
2026 brings a big birthday for me, and a big birthday deserves a big event so welcome to the Lovebomb Bang 2026 (dated because, y'know, maybe this could be an annual event?!)
I want to celebrate LOVE, so I've planned this so that the incredible writers and artists who produce content for Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans characters can collaborate on a project.
Writers will create a piece with a 3k minimum word limit and their paired artist will create drawings, gifsets, playlists (see below for the full list) with that story in mind.

You picked Athens for a reason. A post-divorce trip alone in a foreign city filled with ancient architecture that was sure to make you feel like a speck of dust in the universe is just what you needed - to feel insignificant and like the world isn't inspecting you under a microscope.
The club is packed, and it makes you forget that you came here alone. You want to dance and drink and sweat the last few months of your life out of every single pore. Warm, sun-tanned bodies brush against yours under the strobe lights, and you tilt your head to the ceiling, feeling the music wash over you. It's almost a spiritual experience, and you make a mental note to thank the DJ before you leave for his taste in tunes.
When you look up at the booth, he already has his eyes on you - cigarette in one hand, the other holding headphones up to one ear as he moves to the music. You don't break eye contact, and his gaze darkens. He gestures for a man just off the stage to trade him spots before making his way through the crowd to you.
"Are you here alone?" He asks. He's American to your surprise. And remarkably handsome with piercing blue eyes that rival the Aegean.
"No," you lie. As good-looking as he is, he is a complete stranger.
He shakes another cigarette out of the carton in his front pocket and nestles it coolly behind his ear. "Well, whoever you came with is missing out."
You thumb your ring finger, skin searching for cool metal where your wedding band used to be as you assess this beautiful stranger.
"Dance with me?" You ask.
He leans down to talk softly into your ear. "I'm Mickey. If I get too close-"
"You're fine," you cut him off, assuring him as you press your body closer to his - yearning for physical connection. You give him your name, and he practically purrs it back into your ear, with a sultry, "Let's get out of here."

The Devil You Know
The sky was painted in fading gold as dusk rolled over the horizon. A dry wind stirred the dust along the narrow path leading to a lone mansion standing like a shadow from the past.
Cuphead’s chest tightened.
His boots slowed.
His hands trembled.
Ten years. Ten years since they left, since they stood in that very place and told their father they had to go.
For their mother’s debt.
For a promise they never should have made.
For a guilt that never left them.
Mugman stood beside him, eyes wide and glassy, hands gripping the edge of his coat. “D’ya think he… he’s still the same?”
Cuphead didn’t answer.
They both knew their father.
To the world, Black Hat was the devil’s shadow, cold, heartless, the man who struck fear with a smile. But to them, he was something else. The man who once stitched Cuphead’s favorite coat by hand. The man who caught lightning bugs with Mugman in the backyard. The man who taught them to be clever, fast, and never kneel to anyone.
And the man who, with every ounce of control in him, let them go.
Because he loved them too much to keep them.
And now… ten years later…
The front door creaked open.
He stood there.
Tall. Dark. Unchanged.
Black Hat.
But the stoic mask shattered in seconds.
His hat nearly fell from his head as his arms dropped to his sides.
His voice didn’t work, his mouth parted like he meant to speak, but no words came.
And then, Cuphead broke first.
“Dad…”
He ran.
Mugman followed, sobbing before he even reached the steps.
And Black Hat met them halfway.
In that moment, the cruelest man in the world fell to his knees, arms open, pulling both sons into the tightest, most desperate embrace imaginable. His claws trembled against their backs. His breath hitched as he buried his face between them.
“I waited…” he whispered, voice cracking for the first time in decades. “Every night. I waited.”
Cuphead shook against him, tears soaking into Black Hat’s coat. “We’re sorry. We—we didn’t want to leave. We had to. She—”
“I know,” Black Hat said. “You did what I couldn’t. You protected each other.”
Mugman nodded fiercely, sniffling. “We never stopped thinking of you.”
They sat on the porch under the stars, finally whole again, sharing everything, how Cuphead fell in love with Bendy, the loud demon who drove him mad and made him soft. How Mugman found calm in Cala Maria, the sea’s mystery wrapped in kindness. How they met Felix, strange and uunpredictable. Mickey a really loud mouse. Oswald being sometimes scary. How Boris and Bendy became family. The battles. The laughs. The scars. The love.
And Black Hat listened, holding their hands, never letting go.
“You’ve lived ten lives since I last saw you,” he murmured. “And you came back to me.”
“Always,” Cuphead whispered. “You’re our dad.”
“And you’re my sons.”
The stars twinkled above, and the world felt right again.
