let me know if i missed anyone !
Sometimes I read a wildly popular book and end up either meh about it or even really dislike it. I wonder to myself, "What's wrong with me? What did I do wrong? What did I miss?" I'm very aware that an audiobook experience can be quite different than reading, good or bad. I also realize that sometimes you read a book at just the right time or wrong time, etc. So I overanlyze it all (as with everything in my life). Time will pass, said book will come up again and again, these recs, those book lists, etc. I start to contemplate if I should reread it. Maybe it'll hit differently this time, I tell myself.
Then I get a grip, go read some 2 star reviews on Goodreads that usually remind me of all the things I did not like about the book, remember that reading is subjective, and even if I'm in the vast minority, it doesn't mean my initial reaction to the book was wrong. Then I move on and read something new from my never ending TBR list instead of wasting my time trying to reread a book I didnt like the first time.
That's all, just rambling in case someone else needed that reminder.
Another podcast has fallen victim to me listening to the first episode, becoming feverishly obsessed and consuming almost the whole show in a few days and the right before the finale I lose momentum (like second last to third last episode) and forget it exists for months until I go “oh yeah I remember that!”
Anyway Camp Here and There is cool as shit too bad I’ll never know how it ends *sighhhh*
You don’t have to understand life. You just have to live it.
Collection of Quotes from the book 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig
don’t worry, I can help you, I’m the midnight librarian. Never mind my fangs that glint in this moonlit cloister of books. Yes, I can help you find the mysterious tome you need before sunrise…for a price.
