MikaYuu IS and will be CANON
Ons: a story that is not tagged under the terms of Yaoi and Shonen-ai, but under Shonen. To begin with, "shonen" is a DEMOGRAPHY NOT A GENRE, which means that it includes many different genres. The romantic sub-genres I are also shonen, because the general characteristic is that it is directed to a teenage (usually male) audience. Yaoi represents lgbt+ characters generally in the traditional passive-active dynamic, many of these works are aimed at female audiences for visual aesthetic purposes but the story cannot go away from the romantic or sexual focus. On the other hand, shonen as a demography can include a lot of sub-genres, so its content is not so strict. This makes it possible for a warlike manga like OnS to have moments of pure action, comedy and romance. Because "war" or "vampires" is not specifically a genre, but a topic. And the topic of Ons (which is not the same as the argument) is love. Love in every expression. Guren's love for Shinya, brotherly love (Krul-Asura) family love (Shinoa Squad; Hyakuya family) fatherly love (Shikama-Mika) romantic love (Yuu-Mika) this does NOT mean that Ons manga IS romantic, because in narratology, the "topic" is defined as that which the plot needs to develop. lOVE IS THE MAIN CONCEPT. Love is what moves the characters even Yaoi mangas can deal with other topics than love, such as Given (overcoming the death of a loved one, personal growth). MikaYuu relationship is in that sense perfectly possible and admissible within Shonen, it's just the focus is on a slow-burn bond with a military context magic etc, to make it entertaining and to embrace fans with diverse interests, which is great! MikaYuu has been attracting 85-90% of the fandom for years, a lot of daily content is produced every day, and expectations are high. It doesn't come out of nowhere: the story turns around them, even though it wasn't romantic love from the beginning, this allowed them to develop! MikaYuu is a lgbt+ semi-canonical couple in a non-romantic shonen! (Mikas confession, chapter 90-93-96) And this is a fact. Shonen Jump also has lgbt+ shonen mangas like Ao no Flag And please, don't be a shit bag, if someone is here for a ship, that's fine. No one is anyone's police. A change in being POSSIBLE #MikaYuuCanon
