Character Name - Mike Harrow Appearance
(A friend of mine made the first sprite. The second one is edited to my liking. But as you can see, I’m not a sprite-expert so apologies for making your eyes bleed in anguish. u_u; His hair is suppose to be dolphin-shaped and his “symbol” is a Retro Fish, a type surfboard more popularly used by younger surfers.)
i know not everyone is picasso and i know from experience that sprite editing is HARD. the first sprite is very usable, but just for future reference, i strongly recommend you use a base. there are a TON out there to choose from, and it's not like you have to use the items exactly as is; it's called a base so you can edit from it! my personal favorite is this one, which has a body base that's just a tad smaller than the one used in canon. if you'd rather go for the canon style, there's this which is very handy when coupled with this sprite editing guideline. in fact, there's a whole deviantart account dedicated to homestuck sprite bases and a huge number listed on our very own useful links page
the most striking thing about the second sprite is that his hair isn't voluminous enough (that and the lack of outlines), which is a rly common mistake. use sollux's hair height as a ref, since his seems to be the minimum required volume to avoid looking weird and flat. it would also look better if the symbol and his hair streak were the same shade of blue

Fetch Modus - Sound Modus. Instead of identifying the sound and retrieve the item, the user must find the identical sound in the real world. For example: If the user needs to retrieve the item by finding the sound that sounds like a duck's quack, they must find a duck or try to imitate the quack.
SS: ahaha that's cute!
edit: omg i'm adding this after posting so i hope you still see it, but i was thinking, if you want a fetch modus that fits more with his theme, you could try like oyster?? like the items are sealed in oyster shells that you have to pry open to get the item. you could even add like a waiting period for the oyster to "form" the item (like a pearl), with more important/bigger items taking longer to form. or maybe something where a type of seashell (size, shape, or color) is specified and you have to exchange them to get the item. okay that one's kind of dumb, but still. your current modus is perfectly fine, i'm just bouncing around some ideas!
Strife Specibus - hndbombKind (Due to the 8 letter limitation, the word came from hand-bomb, or rather, grenades. Should I change to just plain old grenadeKind?).
SS: there are no words for the joy i feel when people stick to the 8 letter specibi rule. but yes, grenadekind has a much more natural feel to it!

R O G U E . unless he is, in fact, effectively the "blush of light". and as surprisingly neat as that title sounds, i doubt that is the case! i know this might have been a simple slip of the fingers, but boy howdy does it just grind my gears when people misspell rogue as rouge. the u comes after the g bro. g before u, alphabetical style
Land - Land of Radiance and Waves

History: The year was 199X, when a meteor crashed into a beach. In it, it carried a baby called Mike and an item that will stay with him for quite some time. Mom came along and carried him to her home in the city, where they lived for a short while.
SS: i'm assuming the x is just a place holder or something??
(The item will depend what the readers choose but it’s very likely that will be hndbombKind Strife Specibus Card.) His mother was a very nervous person so her doctor recommended for her to live in a calm place, like the seaside. Because of that, she returned to where she found her baby and bought a small beach-house there. Therefore, Mike grew up there, where he acquired the skills and talent of surfing and body boarding at the local surf school. Not only was it where he acquired that talent, it was also where he was influenced on how he speaks and how he thinks about the issues with the government. The more he learned, the more he disliked the idea of politics. When the boy was about ten he did a rather RECKLESS THING. He got in trouble with the police and his mother scowled (SS: scolded?) him although the objective of the THING was to help her. Before he did it, his mother was at the peak of her nervousness and was constantly in strife with him. The biggest surprise of his life was when after one month of the RECKLESS event, he received a laptop as a gift (nowhere near his birthday). Using it with an already installed Pesterchum, Mike made a few friends around the globe. marquisFlabellum (or simply known as MF) is his best Internet-buddy and was the one to give the contacts for the rest of his friends.
SS: this all sounds rly good!
(The RECKLESS THING was originally planned to be a robbery at a pharmacy, so he could steal the medicine to help his Mom. Then I decided that it’s up to the readers whether or not he does that or another stupid thing.)
His weapon is expected to evolve and have these names: Smoke H.G. (Hand Grenade), White Smoke H.G., Riot-control H.G, Special-purposes H.G., Metal Storm H.G., Milkor-Milkyway MBL (Multiple Bomb Launcher).
Personality: Mike is a relaxed person although he can get rebellious with the authority. His least favorite topic is anything political. The boy prefers to avoid it by trying to change the subject or not participate in the conversation at all. When it comes to decisions, Mike is very impulsive and acts before he thinks.
Other interests: As much as he hates to admit it, he likes taking care of the BEACH ROSES that he and his Mom keep in the balcony. (SS: that has got to be the most adorable thing) He also chills (which means taking a nap) there with a bowl of GRAPES nearby. The only thing he’ll admit proudly of doing is collecting shells from the beach because of the shapes and colors. (SS: no i was wrong this adorable thing is giving the other a run for it's money) During the evening he plays on his GAMECUBE or NINTENDO DS LITE CONSOLE or even surfs around (terrible, pun, I know) and communicates on his laptop. His mother gave him a drum but he doesn’t play on it much.
Room: His room is a mess. He has his surfboard and clothes lying all over the floor and the drum and drumsticks are in each corner of the room. The laptop is on a pile of clothes. He has a small dresser and, as you can guess, is normally empty. His desk is completely covered in shells and has a light blue lamp shaped like a lighthouse. Mike’s bed is ruffled and messy, just like his room, but it is clearly seen that his blankets have shell-pattern on it. The only decency he has to keep tidy are his favorite VIDEO-GAMES, kept close to the TV, GAMECUBE and NINTENDO DS LITE CONSOLE.
(So that’s that, don’t be afraid to tear him apart! <3)
SS: aw sweetie there's nothing really to tear apart! overall, he's pretty well put together. his personality, interests, and backstory are all decently fleshed out and fit together nicely. he's a good character and i like him!
