I feel like you could do Joy Ang’s style really well especially with your own twist on it

I'm about 95% sure u meant Mike Holmes and not Joy Ang (Mike is the graphic novel artist with a more cartoony artstyle, and Joy is the cover artist and stuff with the more realistic artstyle)

anyways (if u meant Mike, lol), THANKS FOR NOTICING! Mike's got such a cool way of drawing dragons! I love how he does expressions and the different characters he draws are all unique and recognizable :3

I do take some inspiration from his style, such as his shapes and things. I like how he ads those eye/snout wrinkles and stray scales that look like little moles HES SO COOL his variety of different faces are also very inspiring

Info from today's virtual Tui & Mike event!

Mike Holmes says he's almost done illustrating Darkness of Dragons: Graphic Novel and just finished up a gruesome scene with Peril.

Tui says there's new dragons in The Hybrid Prince where the name Tui would fit well for a character.

I really like how, right when Kinkajou wakes up from her coma after Anemone does the whole healing her but also putting a love spell on her thing, she's just slightly different from her usual coloring. Yeah she's always mostly yellow, but it's a Different Yellow it's still conveying the same sort of emotions but I like the added visual indicator that something is Really Wrong. But just a page later, and Kinkajou is distracted from how she now "loves" Turtle She returns to her normal coloring

And again later on, It's the same thing. Kinkajou's thoughts are of how she "loves" Turtle and so we see her changing from her regular happy pink, to a slightly different lovey pink. Again returning to normal when her thoughts turn away from Turtle and to Darkstalker

I really like how we have that just slight difference to unsettle us when we know about the spell and it just gats to show us how bad it really is without telling us.

Tried out the graphic novel/Mike Holmes style with Wolf. Think that there’s some stuff off about it (the golden spines on her side would probably just be little black flecks, I don’t really like working with thicker lineart and the GN typically has heavier lineart), but it was fun to bust out in less than an hour.

I also did some studies including more of my doodads and such but the purist style ended up looking the most natural
