Judo Olympian Should Win a Gold Medal in Nutrition
Nutrition is probably the most effective sports performance enhancer on the market. That’s why Ronda Rousey follows a strict fighter diet designed by weight management coach Mike Dolce.
The Women’s UFC Bantamweight Champion has to pay close attention to weight, making sure what she consumes contributes to muscle construction and maintenance, not just building empty mass (a.k.a. fat).
It’s impossible to know exactly what the Dolce Diet entails without signing on with its creator, but based off of Rousey’s interview with Cosmopolitan it would appear to be made up of common-sense and progressive nutrition understanding.
Rousey eats eggs, bread, yogurt and even coffee--pretty standard--but apparently avoids sugar and only eats dairy from grass-fed sources. She is even in on a high-maintenance-health-freak secret: coconut oil and, or, grass-fed butter in coffee. It’s silky and delicious. Just for reference, the only other celebrity I know who’s in on it is Kelly Ripa (fitness and beauty aficionado). And, that bread? Well, certainly it’s not white, but Rousey takes it a step further than whole grains and buys sprouted bread. Respect.
Whether it’s Dolce’s rules or Rousey’s fine-tuning, someone is on top of their nutrition game.
