Rare pair- Mikosaru? Like kusangi and awa finding out or walking in on them?? ( I love the idea of them being like a mom and dad to fushimi and walking in on him like tonguing mikoto or when they first realize they're precious grumpy son is dating him) - maybe Yatas reaction if your up to it?

I wouldn’t say I dislike the ship - it’s not personally one of my ships and I don’t spend all that much time thinking about it, but it is interesting to me.

I find it particularly interesting because of Saruhiko’s initial aversion to Mikoto and the fear he has towards him. I think that’s what would... not necessarily attract Mikoto to him, but make him curious about him. Mikoto would sense that Saruhiko was uncomfortable with him, and I think he would try to make Saruhiko more comfortable and try and make him like him a little more whilst he was in Homra, and after he left I think Mikoto would make casual enquiries after Saruhiko to find out how he was doing in Sceptre 4, first through Reisi, but I think at some point he would want to ask Saruhiko himself why he chose to leave, just in case there was something he could have done better. 

I think that’d be a turning point for Saruhiko in terms of how he saw Mikoto, because the fear he had for him was a lot like the fear he had for his father, but now he’s seen proof that Mikoto is willing to listen to him and cares about his well-being, even if he’s very subtle about it, I think it would change the way Saruhiko saw him. And ultimately, Saruhiko is aware of how irrational his fear is, and of all the things that Mikoto has done for him over the years, and it would be kind of a revelation to him for Mikoto to respect his wishes and what he thought he needed, and to have someone support him in doing what he needed, especially after Misaki’s negative reaction, would change the way he saw Mikoto. Obviously his anxiety wouldn’t disappear, but I think it would be a starting point. 

With these two and all their communication issues and antisocial tendencies, it would take a long time for them to actually get into a relationship, and it probably wouldn’t start until the tension built to breaking point and they ended up making out without really realising how it happened. Either that, or someone like Reisi or Izumo started figuring it out and encouraged them to take steps. 

Their relationship would develop slowly too, and they wouldn’t be quick to put a label on it. It would mostly be quite casual- they hang out together in low-key environments, sometimes just Mikoto napping on Saruhiko’s knee while Saruhiko works on his laptop. They’d never be a romantic date couple, or the type of couple who gets married or has kids, but they quietly enjoy each other’s company and I think they would help to support each other in an odd sort of way. They both have self-destructive tendencies, and having someone who can support them in the sort of low-key low-pressure way that they need. 

In terms of other people’s reaction, I think Izumo would be pleasantly surprised - he wouldn’t have pegged them as two people who work together, but if they’re happy then he’s happy for them. Seri I think would be a little more concerned, mostly for Saruhiko’s well-being when considering their personalities and history, but I think Izumo could talk her around, but if they walked in on them, they wouldn’t make a fuss at the time. Izumo is a “cool dad” sort of person and I can see him being the “sorry for interrupting, if you need snacks, a condom, let me know, you kids keep me young” kinda dude. 

Reisi would be the stern dad friend who lectured Mikoto about taking good care of his colleague and using condoms and all that. 

Misaki I think would be pissed - Saruhiko betrayed Homra, and then turned around and started dating Misaki’s king, and he would see it as salt in the wound at first, but seeing Mikoto treating Saruhiko with love and care despite the betrayal would eventually I think make him think twice about it, and he would ask Mikoto why he’s with him after what he did, and it would give him some insight into Saruhiko’s thoughts and feelings and possibly bring about an earlier reconciliation, but that initial anger would probably take a long time to subside.

Finally, it’s time for rarepair week! And what better way to start it off with than angst, right? I mean, you can’t possibly make (one of) the first prompt(s) ‘endings’ and expect me to not write angst, right? That’s just not how it works.

Summary: Fushimi meets his former King one last time during the fight on Ashinaka.

It was cold, and Fushimi was in a bad mood, and having spent the entire night on the bridge to Ashinaka had not helped with either. All because the stupid Red Clan and its incompetent King had decided they needed revenge for Totsuka Tatara, and they needed it right now, in the middle of winter, in a fucking school of all places. Sure, the Colourless King was partly to blame, especially the school part was unnecessary, he didn’t doubt the Reds would’ve been fine killing him anywhere, possibly in an easier to access place with less innocent civilians at risk. Still, they could’ve been a little bit more considerate of all the work they were creating for Fushimi and the rest of Scepter 4 with this.

As if. Fushimi was decently sure he’d seen through their plans – they weren’t exactly hiding their intentions – and if it worked out how they planned, they would create bigger problems than just mountains of paperwork and Fushimi’s fingers slowly turning numb.

A gaze to the Captain confirmed his suspicions. He’d gone to have a talk with Suoh Mikoto, but apparently to no avail. Munakata still looked as calm as ever, but Fushimi could tell he was worried, and that threw him off more than he’d like to admit. Maybe he’d come to rely on his Captain’s unwavering confidence and perfectly thought out plans a bit too much.

To Suoh Mikoto, none of that meant anything. He just burned down everything in his path, uncaring about the consequences.

When they finally got the order to move in, Fushimi made no effort to seek him out. There was no point. The negotiations were over, and he didn’t delude himself to think he was a bigger obstacle than a fly to a King. He went for Misaki instead. Misaki he could fight, he could get under his skin and rile him up and get a reaction fierce enough to distract him from the inevitable.

Fushimi did not plan to lose sight of Misaki in the crowd, and he most definitely did not plan to run into the Red King.

He’d simply thought he’d seen Isana Yashiro and his friends slink away behind a building, and he’d chased after them with the vague hope that it would be of some help, that maybe he could solve this mystery before anyone else and then… well, something. He could figure that out when he got there.

Which he didn’t. Suoh was going after them too and noticed Fushimi, effectively terminating his chance for success entirely. Still, he held up his sword and assumed fighting position, like the good Blue Clansman he was. Sort of.

“Stand down, Suoh Mikoto,” he demanded, ready to rattle of the rest about protocols and the legal situation, but Suoh let his aura flare and Fushimi crumbled. Suddenly firecrackers were exploding in his ears as a faceless crowd attacked him and Fushimi could do nothing but remain motionless and watch in fear and awe as the flames decimated everything around him.

Before his mind could take him even further back, the fire vanished as quick as it had appeared. Fushimi clicked his tongue in annoyance, knowing he was let off easy out of pity, but not strong enough to demand to be treated differently.

Apparently though, he’d at least succeeded in deterring Suoh from his original goal, because now he was walking toward Fushimi instead of following Isana Yashiro.

There was little solace in that though. Years later, Fushimi still couldn’t move as Suoh came closer, could only hold his breath as he leaned in and gently pressed their foreheads together. It was almost unbearable to look him in the eyes, yet Fushimi couldn’t tear his gaze away.

“’S not safe here, kid. You should leave.” It was merely a mumble, but Fushimi felt an inexplicable anger rise in his throat that was even making him momentarily forget how afraid he was.

“And whose fault do you think that is?” Fushimi was hissing, voice dripping with fury. “If you’d just let the Captain handle- “

He was interrupted by the weight of a hand on his head. “Seems Munakata is taking good care of you. Make sure to kick his ass for me if he’s being a prick again.”

And then Suoh moved away and turned around, lifting a hand in goodbye as he started to walk in the general direction of Isana Yashiro again. It was odd, Fushimi should have felt relieved, the knot of fear in his stomach should have disentangled itself, but nothing of the sort was happening. If anything, it was tightening, closing up his throat as well until he felt like he couldn’t breathe anymore as he looked at the retreating figure of his former King.

He couldn’t stand it. “Mikoto-san!” he cried out, out of pure desperation to do something, anything.

Mikoto turned around again, a tiny hint of surprise on his face. But Fushimi had nothing to say. Or maybe he had, but he didn’t know what, couldn’t properly formulate anything in his head besides a vague feeling of ‘Don’t go!’, but even that wouldn’t actually make it past his lips. So he just stood there, at a loss of what to do.

Maybe it was visible on his face anyway, what he couldn’t say, because at least for a moment, it seemed like Mikoto understood. “Sorry, kid,” was all he said though before he started walking again and soon disappeared out of Fushimi’s line of sight.

God, he was so stupid. Even Fushimi himself hadn’t been sure what he’d hoped to achieve with that. It was clear that Mikoto was beyond all logical argument at this point – more so than usual – or else Munakata would have been able to convince him.

But he hadn’t really been logical, had he? But the notion that he had some sort of emotional value that could stop Mikoto from running to his death was even more ridiculous. He was a traitor, after all. It was questionable whether Mikoto cared about him at all, but even if he did, there was no way Fushimi could come close to Anna or Kusanagi, or even Misaki and all the other idiots that followed Mikoto like loyal dogs.

It didn’t matter that they’d spent the night together once. Neither had been completely sober – though at least Fushimi hadn’t really been drunk either – and it hadn’t had to do anything with feelings or some bullshit like that. Fushimi had been trying to burn away his regrets when too many of them had been piling up, and he thought he’d seen something similar in Mikoto’s eyes, though of course he didn’t know any details. They hadn’t talked. There hadn’t been any need.

Still, later that day, when Fushimi watched his sword fall and then dissolve into nothingness, he wished they had. If only he’d tried to understand him, maybe he could’ve saved him somehow.

But, more than anything, Fushimi wished he could just convince himself that Mikoto hadn’t been someone worth saving anyway.

In a everyone live au, imagine saru being nervous about Misaki ding out he somehow is dating Mikoto. At some point he even cancels on Misaki before deciding at the last minute he needs to get it over with… only to find his own king entangled inappropriately with Misaki.

Imagine Yata’s probably been having the same issue, how the hell is he supposed to explain this relationship that even he doesn’t understand XD For that matter, Fushimi probably doesn’t understand his own relationship with Mikoto. Imagine they’ve been in one since like around the betrayal time too and Fushimi has been avoiding calling it a relationship, but making up with Yata has actually helped him to reconcile his own feelings and admit that he loves Mikoto. The only issue now is he has to explain this to Misaki and he’s all hesitant because he feels like this could somehow ruin the friendship even before they’ve really repaired it, like how would Yata act knowing Fushimi made Yata his enemy but was making out with the Red King. And weirdly Fushimi is still on edge about the hero worship thing, like it’s okay for him to date Mikoto but Yata praising Mikoto makes the old jealousy flare up and part of him wants to snap that he’s closer to Mikoto than Yata could ever be. Fushimi is certain that he’ll somehow make a mess of this and therefore it’s best to just not tell Yata, except obviously Yata will figure it out eventually and isn’t it best if Fushimi’s the one who tells him.

He keeps avoiding it though, Fushimi will plan to tell Yata and then cancel at the last minute. Fushimi starts to wonder if Yata knows something though because Yata’s been cancelling on him a few times too, but then he rejects that idea because idiot Misaki can’t keep a secret to save his life. One day Fushimi chickens out again and as he’s leaving the office he passes Hidaka, who’s surprised that Yata isn’t with him. Hidaka says he saw Yata walking into S4 earlier and assumed he was coming to see Fushimi, Fushimi has this panic moment thinking Yata found out. He decides that he needs to actually make himself be honest with Yata, as much as his entire being rejects that idea, and he’s going to find Yata just as soon as he delivers this report to Munakata. This of course leads to him finding Yata quicker than expected, as Yata happens to be in Munakata’s office and they happen to be making out on Munakata’s desk. Yata freaks out when he sees Fushimi all wait wait I can explain, Munakata is completely unbothered and says he will leave them to have an honest discussion between friends. Also imagine Fushimi absolutely milking this, mocking Yata for making out with the Blue King he supposedly hates so much and to think you’re such a bold virgin. Yata is tongue-tied trying to explain, which lasts right until Mikoto climbs through the window because Fushimi was late for their date and Mikoto came to find him (and also throw away some of Munakata’s puzzle pieces while he’s here, because why not). Yata is like wait wait Mikoto-san and Saruhiko and Fushimi does at least have the grace to look a little abashed, clicking his tongue and he mutters that he was just about to tell Yata.

I assume Mikoto’s done it before but he’s probably not sure what Fushimi wants or how much strength he can put into things so he’s basically waiting for Fushimi to take charge and Fushimi is, of course, an actual total virgin and has no idea how this works. Fushimi’s barely even to the point of admitting that they’re in a relationship at all, much less thinking about getting naked and what that all means. Imagine they’ve had some heavy makeout sessions, mostly involving Mikoto pinning Fushimi in alleyways or Fushimi irritably sneaking into the bar when no one else is there and climbing into Mikoto’s lap, but it’s never gone as far as actually taking their clothes off. 

So then one day things finally boil over and they’re like in Mikoto’s room, Fushimi’s shirt is off and Mikoto’s pants are unbuckled with Fushimi in his lap….and they’re just staring at each other. Fushimi clicks his tongue all aren’t you going to do anything, having half expected Mikoto would basically pin him down and tear his clothes off or whatever, Mikoto shrugs like do whatever you want to do. Fushimi can’t believe Mikoto’s so lazy that he’s going to expect Fushimi to do everything, Mikoto figured Fushimi always complains about him doing things on his own so here, go ahead and do it yourself. Fushimi is absolutely not going to admit that he doesn’t entirely know what to do (seriously who is he, he’s not going to be as bad as Misaki no matter what) but he doesn’t want to look like an idiot by doing something wrong either. He has no idea if Mikoto really doesn’t know what to do or if Mikoto is just being lazy, Mikoto’s probably lit a cigarette and is waiting for Fushimi to make up his mind. Imagine Fushimi gets the terrible idea that if he just gets Mikoto hot enough Mikoto will take over, which probably ends with them both biting at each other but also totally unsatisfied and finally Fushimi actually has to grit out that he expects Mikoto to just take fucking charge already.

Alpha Mikoto impregnating a very angry omega Fushimi

Why am I imagining this as them having very angry sex and Fushimi just hissing and scratching like an angry cat XD Can you imagine how pissed off Fushimi would be about all of this, like he’d be annoyed enough just by getting pregnant but getting pregnant by Mikoto of all people makes it even worse. Imagine this in like a pre-ROK era too, when Fushimi is ostensibly Homra’s ‘enemy’ but also sleeping with their King at the same time. I had an ask at one point about omegaverse Mikosaru where alpha Mikoto had to like mark omega Fushimi in order to save him from a dangerous situation somehow and now they’re technically mates. Mikoto doesn’t intend to force Fushimi into anything but Fushimi keeps going back to him, grousing and complaining that this is all Mikoto’s fault because whenever Fushimi’s in heat his body only desires Mikoto and no one else. Plus imagine the reverse, Mikoto in a rut and Fushimi becoming aware of it. Even though he’s not in heat and doesn’t need to go to Mikoto at all he just shows up at Homra when the bar’s otherwise empty and acts as if he’s not doing this for Mikoto at all but whatever, Fushimi will help him deal with his rut.

Fushimi is generally very careful with his heats and taking birth control and all that but imagine one day Mikoto’s rut and Fushimi’s heat coincide and Fushimi is so swept up in his raging hormones that he forgets to take his pills. Fushimi is extra needy and he’s like scratching at Mikoto trying to get his clothes off and Mikoto’s biting him over and over, for once Fushimi’s normally prickly demeanor has melted away entirely and been replaced by this desperate gnawing need. Afterward Fushimi’s irritable about having lost control so much and grumbles that this is all Mikoto’s fault, Mikoto shrugs and grins like didn’t see you complaining. Fushimi clicks his tongue and is like shut up, telling himself for the nth time that he’s never doing this again. 

A couple weeks later he starts to notice that he’s been feeling ill and his stomach is bothering him, Fushimi initially refuses to even entertain the idea that he could be pregnant but he’s well aware in the back of his mind that this is a possibility. He finally reluctantly buys a pregnancy test and the moment he sees it’s positive imagine he’s just livid, like that asshole really did this. I feel like Fushimi would be sorely tempted to just get an abortion and never tell Mikoto anything but imagine before he can even really consider this Homra and S4 have some kind of clash and when they meet Mikoto pauses and sniffs the air, looking right at Fushimi all ‘....huh.’ The alphabet squad curiously glances at him and Fushimi is bright red, pissed off and embarrassed, and the moment he gets a chance to get Mikoto alone he’s like ‘you asshole.’ Mikoto isn’t even phased, just amused that huh, so that’s what a pregnant omega smells like. Fushimi’s probably worried that other members of S4 can smell it but right now it’s so early only Mikoto can tell because that’s his. Imagine him teasing Fushimi all so you gonna raise my kids Fushimi and Fushimi is like shut up, I’m not dealing with this I’m getting rid of it. Mikoto calmly wonders if that’s really what Fushimi wants, touching Fushimi’s stomach, and Fushimi feels this little fluttering in his chest. Fushimi looks away and mutters of course it is, it’s not like he can expect the father to take responsibility since Mikoto’s never in his life taken responsibility for anything. Mikoto’s all guess I’ll have to this time and Fushimi is caught off guard like wait what, and it’s just at this moment that Mikoto gets called away by Kuisanagi. So now Fushimi is suddenly conflicted and probably extra pissed off about it, he always assumed Mikoto didn’t care about anything but his own enjoyment and now how dare that idiot suggest he wants to take responsibility for this stupid baby.

MikoSaru but Yata is having a crisis at the sight of the two kissing.

Poor Yata, this would definitely break his brain a little XD It doesn’t help that Fushimi probably doesn’t want to tell anyone that he’s having a relationship with Mikoto, like Kusanagi and Totsuka are likely aware but none of the other Homra guys know and Fushimi is trying his level best to keep it that way. Even better if this is post-betrayal and pre-S1, so as far as Yata knows Fushimi is still the enemy of all Homra. Imagine one day Yata decides to stop by the bar, Kusanagi, Totsuka and Anna are all supposed to be out for the day and Yata was actually supposed to be working all day too. He ended up having a half day and maybe ran into some guys from a rival gang that Homra’s been chasing after, Yata kicked their butts and wants to go brag a little to Mikoto. He steps into the bar all happy and waving, like ‘Mikoto-san!’, only to see no one seems to be there. Yata wonders if Mikoto is asleep in his room and decides to go check, he’s a little nervous about going into Mikoto’s room on his own but he hears some sounds upstairs so he decides he should see what’s going on. He opens the door without knocking, figuring if Mikoto is asleep he shouldn’t wake his King up, only to end up face to face with Fushimi and Mikoto making out on Mikoto’s bed.

Yata is immediately like ‘what the fuck’, his brain scrambling for an explanation to this. Mikoto looks up and is just like ‘huh’ but imagine Fushimi getting to his feet and cursing, Yata’s like what the hell are you doing here you traitor. Fushimi looks confused for a moment and then he grins as he’s like oh are you mad seeing me with your precious King Misaki. Mikoto isn’t dealing with this so he just gives Fushimi a tap on the head like cut it out, Fushimi glares at him and grumbles that he needs to tell his idiot clansmen to knock first. Yata’s still standing there like but you were and Mikoto was and he is so lost. Fushimi clicks his tongue and grumbles at Yata to forget it, Yata’s like how can I forget that and Fushimi just walks past him waving to Mikoto like this is your problem. Mikoto is already lighting a cigarette and Yata’s looking at him helplessly, Mikoto sighs heavily and is like don’t worry about it, he just doesn’t want to deal with this at all. 

Mikoto probably uses a bit of his King privilege here, telling Yata it’s no big deal and nothing bad was happening. Yata doesn’t want to bug his King by asking more questions but also, again, what the fuck. He ends up leaving and imagine poor Yata is torn between well Mikoto is amazing and knows what he’s doing so it’s gotta be fine right but also he was kissing Saruhiko and, once more, what the fuck. The next time he and Fushimi meet he tries to ask Fushimi again but Fushimi’s all extra annoyed that Misaki is talking about Mikoto when Fushimi is the one in front of him (also he doesn’t want to admit out loud that he’s in a relationship with Mikoto). Imagine this as Everybody Lives AU so it’s probably not until post-ROK that Yata finally gets this ‘fine, we’re in a relationship’ admission from Fushimi and Mikoto and somehow even after all this Yata still can’t entirely wrap his head around how all this happened (Fushimi just grumbles you and me both).
