hear me out here, ray bringing the danger force kids for a check up at mighty med after they got their powers

Ray would 100% have AWOL on a toddler leash for the first few days judging by how easily he got lost teleporting when he first got his powers.

Bose doesn't teleport, but still gets lost just as easily and has to hold Ray's hand.

Ray and Horace are besties.

It's pretty much confirmed in show that Ray's constantly comparing the Danger Force kids to Henry, but I feel the need to point out how much that has to do with why Ray was so exasperated with the kids at the start of the show, and throughout it overall.

It's really no secret that he was always viewing their actions and behavior through the lense of "well, compared to Henry/Kid Danger", it's only natural considering he spent a whole six years with that boy. Obviously, his standards were set by not only what Henry achieved, but the relationship the two had outside of sidekick/hero & boss/employee. Henry was admittedly the person he was closest to, and when Danger Force came in to fill his spot, it just wasn't the same. As so, I primarily noticed these three things Ray tended to compare the kids to because of Henry;

1. Henry was not thrown onto Ray as a responsibility like the kids were.

Something really important to consider was that Ray was ultimately the person who had the last word when it came to making Henry his sidekick. He's Captain Man, he's the one choosing to even hire someone to work besides him in the first place, so he had complete control (at least, in the start) when it came to Henry's job. Back in season 1, Ray fired Henry with absolutely no problem when Henry revealed his secret to Charlotte, and that was that. Sure, Henry gets unfired and gains his job at the end again; but if Ray didn't want to budge with his decision, there could've easily been no more Kid Danger.

This, is very unlike Danger Force's situation. Ray pretty much had no choice but to take the kids in to mentor them. He definitely could've avoided responsibility, don't get me wrong, but not even he wanted a bunch of kids with superpowers running unsupervised around swellview. As so, the formation of Danger Force ultimately felt more like a chore, and a responsibility he just couldn't immediately get rid of and escape from. (also, they sorta came into his life during a very rough time, aka Henry & all the others leaving him. So, I don't think he was emotionally and mentally ready to deal with them either.)

2. They're completely different to how Henry was when he was first hired.

This one's a given; they're not Henry, they've never acted like Henry, and will never be like Henry. But compared to him, they were never as obedient or compliant towards Ray like Henry was; not only when it came to the job itself, but their personal relationship with Ray as well. A big conflict between them and Ray was the fact they weren't really great listeners, they tended to rush into things, and mostly importantly, they completely opposed Ray at times.

Henry was a pretty stubborn, and at times immature kid back when he was starting out as Kid Danger, but he was the COMPLETE opposite to them in terms of obedience. Nine times out ten, if Ray ordered him to go and do something, he'd do it without a second thought. He was pretty loyal, and there was also the factor that Henry met Ray as Captain Man, who he was a huge fan of. There was already some pre-determined need to please and comply with someone who he admired so much, and even if Henry stopped idolizing him later in, that need was still there subconsciously. Just to name two notable examples back in season 1;

1. In the very first episode, Jasper and Charlotte come to Junk 'N Stuff to presumably see Henry. Ray makes some comment about them looking like nice kids, Henry agrees, and then Ray immediately tells Henry to go and get rid of them. Without a complaint or arguing, Henry does.

2. In Henry & The Bad Girl, it pretty much set up to prove just how loyal Henry was. Because of the simple fact he felt guilty lying to Ray and disobeying him, he tells Ray about the whole plan involving meeting up with the Wall Dogs, and makes up for it. Once again, proving he was really THAT obedient despite everything.

Now, compare that to Mika, Miles, Chapa and Boze, who were pretty much deaf when it came to a lot of Ray's demands. I forgot what episode it was, but when Ray was getting interviewed on the news about them sucking ass at their jobs, they come in and pretty much embarrass themselves; all while Ray is attempting to stop them by indicating for them to stop goofing off. But of course, they don't listen. They never listened, and that hugely annoyed a guy who's big on control over people he's "in charge" of.

3. Danger Force was never meant to be something permanent.

Finally, they were just never meant to be a long term thing like Kid Danger was. Matter of fact, like Henry Hart was. I do want to go into this later, but to make a long story short; what Ray found in Henry was a long life partner, someone who wouldn't abandon him and leave him in theory because of the fact Henry was so tied down to him. Not only because of the whole sidekick thing going on, but because of the fact they were so emotionally and mentally involved, to the point of codependency.

In one of final episodes of Henry Danger, during the fight scene where Henry & Ray are arguing about Henry leaving, Ray says he was planning to keep Henry around for another 30-40 years . . . as his sidekick. He did not want to let go of Henry by any means, which meant keeping him by as long as possible. This is completely different to the Danger Force Kids, who Ray pretty much abandoned in the finale. As soon as he deemed they were responsible enough to manage the job on their own, he immediately retired as Captain Man and went off to live his life with Credenza. Nevermind this is irresponsible as hell, unfortunately, he was just looking to rid himself of them as soon as possible.

I won't lie and say he hated them completely, because he definitely didn't. It's clear he grew to love the kids and was endeared by them, stating multiple times they grew to become a somewhat important part of his life. Even so, they were never meant to be something permanent like Henry was. He didn't allow himself to grow close to them, and he couldn't, because he just cannot recreate anything like how he and Henry had.

With the way he was furious about that boy leaving, he was pretty much watching whatever future he had planned with Henry crumble away into nothing, and disappointment just boiled down into not being able to see the Danger Force kids as something long term. The emotional attachment was just ,, not there? If that makes sense.

This is definitely longer than I planned, but I just really needed to get my thoughts out about this. Watching Danger Force just really made me realize just how fundamentally fucked Ray's way of thinking got; absolutely no one can replace Henry.

it's always been kind of weird to me how some dangerverse kids seem to age much faster than others - like, piper at 12 looks older than the main three at 13. and it's also strange to see the way the characters change over the years - when you look at a picture of s1 henry and then s5 henry there are differences. so today i finally gave in to the urge to make this and wasted a good hour and a half

i couldn't find buddy's age on the wiki so i just used his actor's age. apparently buddy is a year older than the df kids?? which just feels wrong. also it was SUCH a pain to find pictures of the df kids from the right seasons

miles as the "look at me. you're not looking. please pay attention, please hear what i'm saying. i'm right in front of you: please just look."

mika as the "you're looking at me, but- you're not seeing anything real. please look closer and tell me it's something worth looking at, please give me something real and don't let it hurt too badly when i get it. please see me. please like what you see."

chapa as the "i grew up learning that i wasn't easy to love, so i turned to easier things. running and fighting and single-minded stubbornness. but there's nothing easier than loving you. and the more i see myself in you, the more i start thinking i might've gotten it wrong initially. please prove me wrong. please want this as much as i do. please want me. please want me more than they did."

bose as the "i grew up learning that i wasn't easy to love, so i'll make it as easy as i know how to. settle for the next best thing. i'll settle for anything, i'll settle for staying. i don't care. just stay. i know you probably won't, but- please. don't go."

Yall remember when the danger force fandom was a total chaos? Because i do…, I WAS THERE !!! (as a spectator… but i was there)

Like the time the b*pa shippers of tiktok went wild with the bomika shippers of tumblr to the point of r4cist slurs…, ALL BECAUSE OF A FURRY JOKE

Or the time the swellmelon fest episode got leaked AND EVERY SINGLE SIDE OF THE FANDOM, NO MATTER WHAT SHIP THEY SHIPPED hate it SO MUCH, I remember even some people got out of the fandom because of it… i think that was the only moment the bomika shippers and the b*pa shippers agreed in one thing peacefully …

I also remember when a part of the "fandom" found photos of havan flores (actress of chapa) when she was on hiatus of social media AND HER MOTHER HAD TO TELL THE "FANS" TO STOP SHARING THE PHOTOS

Oh gawd how i miss those times…
