Wrong. Ppl don't like how they stereotyped young black girls as rude

I’m assuming this is for the iCarly revival post. It’s totally fair to be upset by the writing I am still on the fence with the revivals approach. But I wouldn’t say Millicent is rude rather she is justifiably showing she’s not adjusting well with her family shift. Going from being with your mom, to her being remarried, to having them divorce shortly, and now you’re with the stepfather is rough. And she’s got so many other characteristics besides disgruntled and snappy. She’s clever, resilient, adorable, and protective. The post Franchesca made was to show there’s a horrible hypocrisy of fans who are blatantly not empathetic to a child character of 7 episodes but will support Sam who had 7 seasons of growth.

While I do still have my personal qualms for the revival I love how one of it’s writers is treating Jennette McCurdy “Sam Puckett”, and Jaidyn Triplett “Millicent Benson”.

(Also I’m not used to the the volume of support in tweets so this was a fun night.)

Honestly I don’t mind Millicent’s character as much as everyone does, she reminds me of Megan from D&J a little bit, the kid with a snarky attitude but in the end shows you she cares, plus Sam was the exact same way and sometimes worse and yet people loved her, so I think with Millicent it just takes time till we get to know more of her character.

Again, I think that they will give her an arc to grow as a person.

Sam was my favorite character and though she was mean, she cared about Carly and eventually Freddie. With Millicent, it seems like she hates Carly just to hate her and not in a mischievous way like Megan, or in an angry, fight-y way like Sam.

I do want to like her though. I just think we haven't had much time with her that when she is onscreen with the attitude it's a bit jarring because we haven't really seen another side of her. Well, that's not true, we know she is protective of Freddie thanks to the last episode. That's another reason why I think an arc where they grow close as father/daughter would benefit both characters.

I've got to say, reading the Wiki for Millicent from iCarly (2021) had me expecting her to be a lot more sinister than she is...

My head canon/time line for Freddie …

Age 20: Gets married. Maybe even younger. He's a romantic. He would have thought his first real serious outside of high school relationship was THE ONE and despite being telling him (or them) to slow down he still married her.

Age 22: Divorces. It's a clean, no hard feelings type of thing. They realized they were too young.

Age 24: Starts to date someone a few years older who has a daughter. People are in his ear telling him to slow down, be careful, etc. But he's still a romantic and is convinced it's true love and they'll be a family forever, that not only does he marry her, he also immediately offers to adopt the daughter. Because after all they are gonna be a family forever right? Might as well make it official!

Age 26: The startup and source of his financial security fails/crashes and upon realizing he no longer has $ his second wife requests a divorce. Though upset another marriage has failed he agrees.

Age 27: Has finally worked out custody agreements for his daughter. His marriages and job might have failed but he's not gonna fail at being the best parent he can! Despite the fact his daughter tests his patience with her tween angst and drama he still loves her.
