Round 2
Millicent Collins
Dr. Julia Hoffman
Millicent was the eldest child of Theodore and Laura Stockbridge Collins of the New York branch of the family. Her younger brother was Daniel.
After a traumatic incident when she was young and Daniel was an infant, Millicent was never the same. She maintained a childlike (naive) manner into adult hood.
In 1795, after the death of both parents, the two siblings traveled to Collinsport, Maine, to attend the wedding of their cousin Barnabas Collins to Josette du Prés. Events didn’t turn out as planned because their cousin Jeremiah Collins eloped with Josette instead.
But Millicent was distracted by the charms of Lt. Nathan Forbes, a friend of the family. Nathan was very good looking and Millicent developed feelings for him.
Millicent and Nathan planned to wed but she discovered he already had a wife. When the wife died, she still didn’t trust Forbes’ motives. But eventually he won out, and the two were married.
But Millicent tricked Nathan. Before saying their “I do’s” Millicent signed her half of the family fortune over to her brother Daniel.
Not to be undone, Forbes plotted to drive Millicent insane, become Daniel’s official guardian, then eventually murder the boy.
But Forbes evil plans were prevented by Barnabas Collins, who killed the cad!
