Hag stones
dbananza asked: "I’m asking everyone about how to use holy (i.e., holed) stones!"
Naturally holed stones (variously known as hag stones, witch stones, adder stones, and milpreves) have many relations in folklore and traditional witchcraft. Tied to your door key they will protect your home, tying one or many together near the door or hearth will do the same. Tied to a skeleton key can either protect the home or protect your crossings into the other world. The stones themselves aid this crossing. Held to your eye you will be able to see glimpses of the Otherworld and of magical creatures. In general it is a strong protection charm with a good connection to magic and the faerie folk. In Italy they are sacred to the goddess Diana, and protect from curses, nightmares, and ill-wishes.
Tied together with other charms or by themselves, they make remarkable traditional amulets and tools alike. It also has connections with the spirit of the serpent, and was once believed to be created by the saliva of serpents; hence the term adder stone.
