“I’ll have a shot of tequila, please,” a soft voice asked as a dark haired girl sat on one of the chairs of the bar.
If you had learnt one thing in all of these years serving drinks was to recognize a broken heart. And it was right before you.
“One tequila shot for you,” you said as you slipped the little glass her way.
She had a small bag clutched to her side and her eyes seemed absent. She took the shot and drank the beverage, grimacing a little when the liquor made contact with her throat.
“Another one, please,” she said, her eyes fixed on the glass as she was about to destroy it with her gaze.
It was gonna be one of those nights.
You poured and poured and poured as the girl kept on drinking, letting all her frustration out when the alcohol finally let her walls down.
“You know what the worst part of it all?!” she shouted, gaining a few looks from the customers that were in the bar.
Not many since it was a Wednesday night.
“What?” you answered, drying up a cup but still invested in her story.
“Sh-she doesn’t even care!” the girl dragged the words due to the alcohol in her blood, “She’s always like that and I’m done with it. It was the last strand for me and I finally dumped her!” she harshly drank down another shot, hitting the glass against the bar, asking for another one.
“You deserve better,” you said, grabbing the glass and subtly putting it away so she would keep drinking. She looked wasted enough and you didn’t want her to get in trouble. “A pretty lady like you will find someone better in a blink of an eye”.
The girl sitting in front of you froze. “Y-you think I’m pretty?”
You simply nodded since she looked really pretty even with her reddened face due to her state.
But your smile faded away when she started crying, “w-what’s wrong?”
“My relationship is over,” she cried, her shoulders shaking due to the way she started to sob, “how am I supposed to start again? What am I going to do?”
The girl hid her face on her hands, not being able to stop sobbing.
You hesitated for a bit, not wanting to cross any border due to her state but finally made the decision to cross the bar and pat her back softly, trying to comfort her.
“Hey, hey,” you said as she kept sobbing on your shoulder, your blouse now strained with her tears, “you don’t have to rush into anything. Take your time, take things slow, you’ll get there eventually”.
She pushed you away in order to look at your eyes and you couldn’t help but gulp loudly. She had the prettiest eyes you’ve ever seen and the loveliest beauty mark on her nose. Her tears made her eyelashes look even more curled and shiny.
“Fucking Chaeyoung,” she whispered, before passing out in your arms.
You blinked repeatedly at the sudden action, not knowing what to do or who to call. You never asked for her never, let alone her address.
Softly, you placed her against the bar, and made sure everyone had gone home so you could close the place before thinking what to do.
“Alright,” you whispered, contemplating the sleeping girl before you. “Oh, that’s it!”
You took a look at her purse and found her wallet, luckily she had her ID with her and it had all her information.
“Myoui Mina,” you whispered, taking a look at her.
She did look like a Mina and to your luck, she lived a couple of blocks from the bar.
“Alright, Mina,” you placed her arm over your shoulders to take her to your car, “let’s take you home”.
The ride lasted less than a few minutes. It took you longer to take her to the car. Once you located the door you had to knock, you pulled over and grabbed her again to your side. She was still unconscious which made her thin body somehow heavy.
“Hello?” you shouted after ringing the door but getting no answer. “Is anyone home?!”
After a couple of seconds you heard steps rushing to the door and a sleepy voice from the other side, “who is it?!”
“I’m bringing Mina home!”
The door flung open and a short haired girl appeared before it. “Mina!!” she gasped loudly, stepping aside to let you go in and place her on the couch. “Oh my god, what happened? Is she okay?”
“She just had too many tequila shots,” you simply said now standing before the girls that were sitting on the couch. “She’s gonna be really hungover tomorrow”.
She nodded, relieved.
“Who are you?” the girl asked, now knowing that her roommate was out of danger.
“I’m Y/N, I work at the bar a couple blocks away. She came in, took too many shots and passed out,” you chuckled, even if the short haired girl shook her head in disapproval.
“Thank you, Y/N. Thankfully it was you who helped her. I’m Jihyo,” she said, grabbing your hand in a firm shake. “Do we owe you anything? For the gas? For the trouble?”
You chuckled. “No worries. I'm just glad she’s fine. Just make sure she has an aspirin tomorrow first thing in the morning, alright?”
Jihyo nodded as you made your way out and towards your car.
“Mina…” you whispered, taking a last glance at the door and driving away.

Thursday nights were usually the start of the weekend for you. You could notice more customers going into the bar and the air felt more lively.
Yet you couldn’t stop thinking about the girl that had too many tequilas the night before. How was her hangover? Was she feeling better?
“Y/N?”
You froze at the sound of the familiar voice. Slowly, you turned around to face a pair of eyes that looked a little embarrassed and seemed to be trying hard to maintain eye contact.
“Tequila girl,” you replied, shooting a smile her way, gaining a shy chuckle out of her.
“I’m sorry about yesterday,” she said, taking the same spot she had occupied the night before, “my roommate said you took care of me and took me home. You even left this,” she said, handing you the jacket that you had wrapped her in, “you didn’t have to, yet I’m totally thankful and I owe you big time”.
You shook your head softly, taking the jacket and placing it on your chair. “Don’t worry, I’m glad that you’re fine and you’re welcome to have as many shots as you want. I already know where to drop you off”.
She chuckled at your words.
“Can I have something without alcohol in it? I don’t want a hangover like yesterday’s ever again”.
You smiled widely at the thought of her being hungover that morning.
“Orange juice?” you asked.
“Surprise me”.
You spent the next couple of hours going back and forth from the regular customers and the new girl who had taken a spot on the left side of the bar. She told you about her work, her studies, her aspirations. You loved to listen to her voice.
“Talking to you is so easy,” she said, taking a chip from a bowl you had treated her. “Is that a bartender trait?”
“No, you’re just fun to listen to”.
She smiled at your words before checking her phone.
“It’s getting late and tomorrow I have to work really early,” she announced, taking her wallet out to pay for what she had consumed.
“No, no,” you replied, shaking your hands away from her card. “It’s on me”.
The action pulled a grin out of her, “you’re something else, Y/N”.
You wanted to say something, tell her you had enjoyed her company, ask her if she wanted to get something to eat with you, maybe a movie?
But no words left your mouth as she calmly made her way out of the bar.
*
Friday night got you looking at the door repeatedly. You knew she wasn’t just going to show up and hang with you. Maybe she just saw you as the girl who helped her out one time and was just being nice by giving you jacket back. What else would there be for her to go back to the bar?
Until you saw those mesmerizing eyes once again.
She was wearing a white blouse that matched the vibe she had brought to the place, her legs were partially covered by a pair of shorts and a little bag was hanging from her shoulder.
Mesmerizing.
Once in her spot, she made eye contact with you, gaining a timid smile. You were happy to see her and hoped she felt the same.
Mina told you she was about to go to a friend’s party but she wanted to know if you wanted to go with her. She knew your job would require you to stay until late but she was willing to wait for you until you were free.
The little remark made your hopes a little higher.
It was barely one in the morning when you told her you were ready to go.
She looked at you surprised, seeing that there were still customers in the bar and you weren’t nearly close to the end of your shift.
“My friend owed me a favor and she’s closing the bar for me,” you explained, giving a little glance to the girl who was now preparing drinks.
Mina smiled widely at the news and the spark on her face made you happy.
Once you got to the party, Mina’s eyes scanned the place, looking for something.
You didn’t pay much attention to it as Jihyo appeared and greeted you effusively, maybe due to the alcohol she had had minutes before.
“Mina brought you?” her voice sounded a little confused, she clearly wasn’t expecting to see you.
You explained to her how she came to the bar and asked you to come along.
She simply nodded and her eyes also wandered the place as if she was looking for something, just like Mina did.
You didn’t have much time to think about it since Mina grabbed your arms and brought you to the middle of the room to dance with her.
“Thank you for coming with me,” she whispered in your ear, “I was going to be alone since Jihyo decided to bring her girlfriend”.
Her perfume was almost intoxicating and the way her lips grasped your ear made you a little dizzy. How could she have this effect on you so easily?
You simply nodded and danced casually with her, subtly trying to bring her closer to you. Your hands wandered on her waist when she encircled your neck with her hands.
“Wanna drink something?”
“No, I have to take you home,” you immediately corrected yourself, “I mean your home, not mine!”
Mina laughed out loud at your little remark as her head rested on your shoulder since she was still giggling.
*
Mina went to visit you at the bar everyday.
Even if it was just for a couple of minutes to say hello and wish you a good night. She had already made you used to seeing her pretty eyes every day.
But tonight she arrived almost before closing hours.
“I went home and fell asleep,” she said. “But I wanted to come see you anyway”
“And why is that?” you asked, making her blush.
After closing the bar, Mina asked you to walk her home. You knew you were going to have to walk back to get your car but it didn’t stop you.
You walked side by side talking about the day that had just gone by, the things you both did during, what you had for lunch and even shared recipes of them.
“I don’t want to have any regrets,” you said, stopping suddenly and getting a worried look from her. “I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now,” you told her, your gaze falling to her lips, your hands grasping hers.
She closed the gap between you two.
Even if it was you the one who initiated the moment, she took the chance to finally taste your lips with hers.
Instinctively, your arms wrapped her waist and her hands cupped your face.
You took her chin between your fingers and parted her lips to sneak your tongue that was received by hers. The kiss grew hotter in a matter of seconds.
Until she pulled apart.
“Thank you for walking me home,” she whispered, kissing your lips one last time before making her way towards her door.
You followed her with your gaze.
Mesmerizing.
*
Mina didn’t miss a night in the bar with you.
She stole little pecks from you when you were too close and rolled her eyes when anyone tried to flirt with you for a free shot.
“I’m just doing my job,” you said after closing the front door when the last customer had walked out.
“Yeah, those girls were clearly interested in you only as a bartender,” she replied, jealousy present in her voice.
You laughed, bringing her towards you and leaving a chaste kiss on her lips. She turned her face to the side and you took the chance to leave a kiss on her cheek, then on her jaw line and finally on her neck.
She wrapped her arms around you and you took it as a green light to keep going. Your tongue made contact with her skin and she left out a shaky breath.
“You’re so pretty,” you whispered, your hands making their way inside her top, “I love the cute noises that you make”.
She cupped your face and kissed you roughly, as if she wanted to let you know who was in charge. You smirked against her lips.
“Next time kiss me like that in front of those dumb girls,” she hissed and it made you laugh a bit.
“As you wish”.
*
The next couple of weeks went as usual. She kept visiting at the bar at night and during the day you would text or even videocall when she wasn’t busy.
Everything about her felt so natural. All the little steps that you were taking felt right and she made you feel safe.
Even if she had told you that the night you met she had broken up with her girlfriend, a relationship that lasted almost 2 years, you knew that there wasn’t a rule for whatever the heart wanted.
You were there to heal her and protect her heart. No matter who wanted to cross the line, you would be there for her.
She made you feel secure about it. The way she cared about you, asking if you had eaten, wondering if you took your vitamins, getting mad if you were staying up too late instead of resting well.
It showed in the way she looked at you so dearly when you were preparing drinks or how she stayed until late to help you close the bar. She would attach herself to you when all customers had left and it was only the two of you there, hugging you and resting her head on your shoulder was her favorite thing.
“You know?” you said one night you were walking her home from the bar hand in hand, “someday I'm going to open my own bar”.
Her face lit up at the thought.
“It’s gonna be the best bar in the country and every night it will be filled with people and there will be huge queues wanting to go in”
She looked at you dearly as you kept talking your heart out. “And I will still go all the way there to kiss you good night, it doesn’t matter if I have to cross the whole city to do so”.
“Are you serious?” You asked, now facing her since you were almost at her house's door.
She nodded and cupped your face to bring your lips together, giving you a soft kiss before her forehead rested on yours. “You’re gonna do big things and I will be your number one cheerleader, alright?”
You smiled brightly, nodding excitedly and kissing her one more time.
*
All the nights spent at the bar made you realize how lucky you were to have found someone who treasured you and supported you so much.
Even if you spent only a few hours together and it was only at your workplace, it made you feel complete.
You knew you had to take the first step and ask Mina out on a proper date. No more hanging out at the bar or kissing at her front door. It was time for you to step your game up and plan something she deserved. And she deserved the whole world.
Before going to work, you stopped by at a flower shop and got a couple of purple roses. You made a reservation for the next day at one of the best restaurants in the city and made sure everything was set up.
You wanted to surprise Mina telling her your first date was going to be at the restaurant she’s been wanting to go to for a while and let her know from now on, you were doing your best to grant all her wishes, even the craziest ones.
However the hours went by and she didn’t show up.
It was the first time in all the time you knew each other that she didn’t go see you.
You were worried that something might have happened so you called her after closing the bar.
She didn’t pick up but instantly sent a text:
>Something came up and I couldn’t go to the bar tonight, I’m sorry.
You frowned.
>I understand. Are you alright?
>I’m fine, don’t worry.
The following night was the same. She didn’t show up nor answered the call. She just texted saying something came up.
During the day, she started to take longer to reply. First it was a couple of minutes, then hours. Until she didn’t answer altogether.
Was she trying to ghost you?
Then what about all the things you did together?
You were pretty sure your feelings were reciprocated and she was happy with you too.
It took almost two weeks for her to completely leave you behind. There was no answer to any call or text. She didn’t come to the bar anymore and didn’t give you a reason as to why she did so.
She didn’t even say goodbye.
It hurt you to know that maybe it was something you did wrong and didn’t notice. Maybe you said something she didn’t like and now she didn’t want to talk to you.
But what was it?
The next day you decided to take matters into your own hands.
You knew where she lived and you needed an answer. No matter what she had to say, you wanted to hear it from her and if it was a goodbye then you were going to respect it and leave her alone.
Parking in front of her house made you nervous suddenly, you knew she was home because it was her free day from work.
You rehearsed in your head what you wanted to say to her, not wanting to make her feel guilty or anything. You just wanted to talk and listen and try to change whatever it was needed to go back to how things were before she disappeared.
After ringing the bell a couple of times, the pair of eyes that you missed so much appear behind the door.
They were filled with a new spark you had never seen before. She looked radiant, full of life as if nothing had ever happened.
But as soon as she realized who it was, she froze. All the good things surrounding her seemed to stop.
You forgot everything you had prepared to say, all you wanted to do was to throw yourself into her arms and ask her what was wrong.
“Y/N, you can’t be here,” she whispered, pushing you away softly, not even stepping out of the house.
“Why?” you asked, your heart beating fast due to the uncertainty of the situation.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry, we can’t do this. Please, leave,” she said, her gaze now falling to the ground and refusing to look at your face.
“Was it something I did?” you asked, trying to finally get an answer, looking for a way to mend things up.
Until you heard steps coming to the door.
“Who is it, babe?” a short girl appeared by her side and casually grabbed her by the waist.
Mina’s gaze was glued to the floor and your heart broke into a million pieces.
The new girl had long blonde hair and her arms were filled with doodle-like tattoos. She was wearing a gray tank top and shorts as if she had just woken up.
The description matched exactly the one Mina gave you when she talked to you about the girl who broke her heart, the one she had broken up with the night you met.
It couldn’t be.
After all the things you went through together.
After all the healing she had done by your side.
Was it all… for nothing?
“No one,” Mina said, her gaze softening when her eyes met the other girl. “She’s looking for Mr. Park and I’m telling how to get to his house”.
“Oh,” the other girl said, not giving it much care, “alright,” she said, before pecking Mina’s cheek and going back to whatever she was doing.
You felt like the air escaped your lungs. You wanted to run away but your feet were glued to the ground. It seemed like the world was falling around you.
“I’m sorry, YN,” she said for the last time, before taking a step back, her eyes filling with tears as she realized you couldn’t believe what was happening. “Please don’t look for me again,” she said, closing the door behind her.
You didn’t know what to do.
She became your whole world in such a short time. It all seemed perfect for you. How didn’t you see it coming?
You took a last glance at the door that witnessed the most tender kisses you’ve ever given and your tears began to fall freely from your eyes.
“Goodbye, Mina”.

Inspiration: The song The Best Thing I Ever Did
Cold winter evening. It is the last day for snow in Seoul. A couple with eight of their friends hang out in an open field.
You throw a snowball at your girlfriend.
“Oppa! Stop it. I just want to spend time with you today.” Mina joyfully laughs.
A puff of white snow hits you in the back. It came from Chaeyeong. “Ha! Take that.” She teases. “That’s what you get!”
“Come here, you little!!” You turn around with a newly formed snowball and aim at her, but ultimately you miss.
You make another one and aim again, but Chaeyeong dodges it once again, and instead, it hits Momo. She was just sitting down peacefully, admiring the landscape, but the snowball straight on the face made her join the fight. Now it is three against one.
Being outnumbered, you look around for help.
“Nayeon-noona, you have to help me!.”
She gets up from sitting down in the snow with Jihyo. Even with her sense of confidence, she fumbles over to you. With your new backup, you retreat to create a fort.
After seeing this, Mina, Momo, and Chaeyeong decide to dig in and do the same.
Salvo after salvo, snowballs cross the field, hitting the wall and each other.
“Noona, I’ll go for the flank. You have to distract them!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure that they’ll regret it.”
You look back and nod.
With all her might, Nayeon throws everything at them. Sometimes with half-made snowballs that barely crossed the field. Regardless, it made them duck for cover. Without being detected, you are able to swoop around behind and unleash your fury on them and rain down hell on them.
“Oppa, that’s unfair,” Mina exclaims.
But you don’t care. All you want to do is win, using whatever is up to your sleeve.
Unexpectedly, you see Mina charge at you. She tackles you. Both of you are on the ground laughing at each other. You hug then give a small peck on the cheek.
“I love you, Mina.”
“I love you too, Oppa.”
The other three come over to see what’s happening. When they see you and your girlfriend start making out in the snow,
“Wow, get a room, you two.” Momo looks at both of you, annoyed and pretending to cover her eyes.
Nayeon stares in awe, wishing for herself to get her boyfriend. “Awww, huhu. Chaeyeong, when can I have one?”
Chaeyeong looks back at the bouncing bunny, being weird with Nayeon’s childish antics.
But the two of you are still there in the snow, showing off your love for each other.
You both get up and dust off the snow off your clothes.
“I’m sorry, I just love my baby so much.” You say while going again for another kiss.
Mina kisses back, but after seeing the complaints of the others, she stops.
“Come on, Oppa, we have to get back to the cabin. You know our private cabin.” She winks while playing with your clothes and hugging you inside your jacket.
“It is getting late, girls.” Jihyo reminds everyone. “Mina, I’m assuming you’ll be with *ahem* your boyfriend.”
“Of course, Unnie.” She holds onto your wrist and drags you along with her. “I’ll see you guys in the morning!”
Once you get to the entrance, she bursts to open the door wide open and pulls you in. She is now in cloud nine.
“Oppa, sit down. I’ll make hot chocolate.”
You get over her and kiss her on the forehead. “That sounds wonderful.”
She skips to the kitchen while you prepare the fireplace, chucking in the wood into the blaze to get it warmed up. You get on the lay yourself all over the couch to rest after a long day of activities. Turning your head around, you can see Mina excitedly heat the dark bitter chocolate, swirling it into a thick concoction and dropping a few spoonfuls of sugar just how you like it.
“Oppa! I’m back.” Mina comes over with two mugs filled with her coveted thick brown drink. “One for you and one for me.”
After handing it to you, she turns on her old radio and switches it to her favorite station. She gets down to the couch and snuggles up right beside you. Her head rests on your chest as her legs are tucked upright on the sofa, showing off a bit of leg while at it.
“Isn’t the radio too old school?”
“I don’t mind.” She looks at you with the biggest smile on her face.
“Don’t you prefer that you’ll have music that you like?”
Mina looks down at her mug, gently swirling it with her teaspoon. “Not really. I just don’t want to worry about it. All I want to focus is on is you.” She looks upon you.
“Isn’t this your song?” You look at her with a gleeful smile.
Mina drops a tear. She puts down her drink and pulls you over to dance. Your right hand is on her waist, and your left is holding her right hand. Her other hand rest on your shoulder. It shakes due to all her tension building up ever since you told her the news.
You both sway left and right as the song continues. The melody guides you—each beat making each movement more and more special as it goes.
“Today is our last day together….” Mina reminds you
You continue to dance there, silent. Her head rests on your shoulder. Droplets of tears run down her cheeks.
“I know you want to get this job in the US…. I know you’ll go away, and I understand that. You have my full support. I’ll be okay if you are gone.”
You pause there for a second with determination to make Mina happy. “You know what, if I have to, I’ll stay.” You say firmly. “If I have to, I can find another here. If I have to then, I’ll look for a place to stay. I know there would be a place that can accept me. I’ll do anything for you, Mina.”
“Oppa, I’m happy to hear that. But if you didn’t say you’ll have to, then I would believe in you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I know how much you wanted this job. You have always talked about it since we first met. I want you to stay here, but I don’t want you to stay here if that means you won’t have your dreams.”
The song ends. You know that’s true. Everything she said was true. This is what you have always wanted to do. She knows it, and you know it.
You both continue to dance. It hurts this time. You hold on to her tighter. You don’t want to let her go. Pulling her closer for the last time, just like the first time, during your high school prom. You sway left, right, left. Your eyes begin to water. As she looks at you, she does the same. Her painful expression continues.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Her head rests on your chest as you continue. You can feel the teardrops fall onto your shirt. You cannot do anything else but clutch onto her for dear life. The last time you can ever do that. The last dance you’ll share. Your final moments together. You don’t want it to end. Neither does her.
“So, What now?” Mina asks, looking away while leaning onto you.
Cars are beeping; the airplane engines are roaring, the people are bustling. It is a cold late winter morning. You are covered with a thick layer of clothing due to the freezing temperatures. But right now, one of your closest friends is there in front of you, wishing you well.
“I guess we just keep dancing.”
~~
“Thank you, Nayeon-noona, for dropping me off.” You embrace her.
“It is okay. No, problem…”
“Stay safe, Oppa!” Chaeyeong tires to catch your attention.
“Goodbye!!!” Momo waves with her hand raised in the air.
“Nayeon, Mina? How is she?”
“She is at the dorm… She can’t be here. She is..uhhh…aslee-”
“You don’t need to lie. I know.” Sighing then looking down. You know, it isn’t her fault.
You try to look up and smile. “Okay, I guess this is me.” You grab your bag and start to walk to the terminal.
But Nayeon grabs your arm and presents something to you “Wait. Here. Mina wanted you to have this.”
She hands it over, and you look at it. “Thank you. Tell her. Thank you.”

You’d both been told a million times that going public with your relationship would damage Mina’s blossoming hero career.
She’d argued with her Public Relations team and the legal department at her agency but they’d all advised the same thing; “stay in the closet.”
It fucking sucked.
All that you’d wanted was to kiss your girlfriend when the clock struck midnight. That moment when the last year disappeared, replaced by sparkling new one. It wasn’t meant to be, though.
To ensure Mina’s Hero Ranking continued to improve, the numerous teams behind her success had insisted she needed to show a little more of her ‘personal life.’ Instead of allowing her to come out and introduce you as her girlfriend as you’d both hoped, what they’d meant is for her to sign a PR contract so that the whole world would think she was dating her long term friend Hanta Sero.
Mina had refused at first, but a Hero’s whole career is dictated by the money makers behind the scenes and certain sponsors had threatened to withdraw their financial support if she didn’t go through with this charade.
It’d broken your heart but you’d convinced the love of your life to act out this one public facade, just to ensure that her immediate future was safe.
With a heavy heart, Mina had agreed, knowing that she’d get to spend much less time with you, but she’d promised not to agree to any extensions of the contract. It was to last a year and a half only, then the two of you could be together properly and publicly.
You held that promise close to your heart, but the next year or so was going to be a difficult one. There'd be a lot of attention on the new ‘love birds’ and you’d have to just stand by and watch.
Tonight was proving to be your most heart wrenching challenge yet, but you’d always know it was going to be. New Year’s Eve was the perfect time to end the weeks of speculation that both Pinky and Cellophane’s press teams had generated. They were to spend the evening acting like the perfect couple at Momo Yaoyorozu’s annual celebration, held at the city’s most luxurious hotel. They’d confirm their new relationship with a romantic kiss on the stroke of midnight, in full view of every TV camera that was there to broadcast the glitzy event.
You’d been granted an invite; Mina had insisted you were to attend so that at least she could be close to you. Of course, you were happy to provide your support in any way you could but watching her pretend to be falling in love with her best friend was taking its toll on you.
After a couple of hours pretending to be either mildly interested or entirely indifferent to the seemingly loved up couple, you realised that your heart couldn’t take watching them kiss at midnight. You’d tried your hardest to gather the strength to stay but you’d failed.
After typing out a brief but heartfelt apology text to Mina, you drank the last of your mojito and headed off towards the cloak room to pick up your things. It wasn’t even 11pm yet so grabbing a taxi shouldn’t be too difficult at least.
Your phone started to ring just as you handed the cloak room attendant your ticket. Knowing that it would be Mina, you ignored the call. You couldn’t face explaining to her verbally why you had to leave.
Tears started to sting your eyes as you thanked the attendant for fetching your things before rushing towards the exit.
Just as you made it out of the front doors, someone called your name. It was a man’s voice so you didn’t even bother to turn around; if it wasn’t Mina, you didn’t care.
It wasn’t until a strong hand closed around your shoulder that you finally stopped walking. Practically sobbing now, you turned to face the person that just couldn’t take a hint.
You weren’t entirely surprised to find it was Sero with a sympathetic yet determined look on his face.
“Don’t leave.” He pleaded. “It’s you that Mina wants to spend the night with, not me.”
“Well it doesn’t matter what any of us want, does it?” You asked, swiping at the most recent tears on your cheeks with the back of your hand. “She has to kiss you at midnight and I can’t watch that.”
Sero gave you an apologetic nod but didn’t let go of your shoulder. “She does, but when we leave just after that, I want her to return to ‘our’ hotel room to find you there.”
You stared at him disbelievingly for a moment, trying to find the right words to respond with as he handed you a key card. “Mina’s my best friend and I want her to be happy.” He explained, “and no one makes her happier than you. Besides, I have someone else I’d rather celebrate the new year with if you get what I mean?” Sero concluded, wiggling his eyebrows to make you laugh.
It worked.
Still giggling, you took the key from Sero. “You better elaborate on that juicy gossip next time I see you!” You ordered before you engulfed him in a tight hug.
“I definitely will…”

The room that Sero and Mina were meant to be spending the night in together was beautiful. It was probably bigger than your entire apartment and definitely a lot fancier.
During the hour or so that you had to wait, you entertained yourself by watching the fireworks from the balcony before pouring a couple of glasses of champagne and perching on the edge of the bed, ready to greet your girlfriend.
As much as this whole PR thing was hurting you, it was obviously just as hard on Mina. That’s why this moment had to be perfect, a distraction, something for the two you to remember and treasure during the long period of time you’d have to be apart.
Finally, you heard voices out in the hallway. You adjusted your position on the bed, hiking up your slinky dress to show just enough bare leg to stay on the right side of tasteful.
When the door eventually opened you caught a glimpse of Sero as he winked at you before scurrying off, presumably to his lover’s room. After that your entire attention was on Mina.
You hadn’t gotten close enough to her all evening to appreciate just how gorgeous she looked in the short glittery black dress you’d helped her choose for this very occasion. “You look amazing.” You mumbled, choking back tears as your girlfriend closed the door behind her.
You loved absolutely everything about your girlfriend. The sparkling quality of her unique black and golden coloured eyes, the candy floss colour of her hair and the shape of her tall, slender yet muscular body.
“Not as amazing as you.” Mina replied, rushing over to cup your cheeks in her hands.
She smelt like expensive perfume and fancy champagne. Her hands were cold and her cheeks were flushed, making you think she’d just come inside. Perhaps she’d gone out to watch the same fireworks that you’d admired from the balcony; that was a nice thought.
“You look perfect, sweetheart.” She whispered, her hands dropping from your face to settle on your shoulders as she urged you back until you were laying flat on the mattress.
You giggled through the tears spilling from your eyes. “You’re so impatient, blossom.” You replied, loving the effect your soft pet name for her had on Mina. “I thought you’d at least like a glass of champagne before you ravaged me…”
Mina shook her head as she urged your knees apart until she could comfortably fit between them. “I’ve had enough champagne tonight, I just want to spend the rest of the night touching you.”
A quiet moan slipped from your lips as you allowed your girlfriend to take off your dress. You’d never grow tired of the way she eyed your body hungrily, nothing turned you on more than that.
“You like the sound of that, sweetheart?” Mina asked, unzipping her own dress before crawling onto the bed and positioning herself between your thighs.
She looked like something that had stepped out of one your wildest fantasies. Her tiny black, lacy underwear complemented her body beautifully and you just wanted to put your mouth on every inch of her soft pink skin.
“Yes…” you whined, sliding your fingers into her neatly styled hair. “Please, Mina!” Your voice sounded much needier than you’d intended but it seemed to fire Mina up so you wouldn’t complain.
Part of you felt sad that this was the only night you’d have together in a while but you tried to silence that cynical voice and focus on the heavenly way that Mina was moving her soft, plump lips over your neck. You were determined to make every moment count.

(Authors Note- Hey guys! I actually combined two requests into one for this, I hope you don’t mind! It wound up being longer than what I’ve previously written so I guess that works out? Also, I apologize for any grammatical errors, it’s almost 5 in the morning and I have yet to sleep! Hope you enjoy this!)
“Can we get another round of drinks over here?”
It was Momo’s idea to go out to the bar. You didn’t need any convincing- once she had said, “me, you and the rest of the gang should go get drinks tonight”, you were in. You and the others needed a break from the busy schedules you all had, and this was a great opportunity to unwind from the stress of the last few days.
So that’s how you wound up crammed between Mina and Jihyo at a crowded bar table with the rest of Twice, a beer and a half in, with your hand resting on Mina’s thigh. The laughter coming from your group seemed to echo through the bar as you all took turns telling hilarious stories about work or about each other, relentlessly teasing one another about embarrassing moments in the past that won’t be forgotten. You loved this- you loved being normal people with your best friends.
An hour in and Jeongyeon and Nayeon were already drunk, and had moved to sit at the bar for easier access to the drinks, fingers intertwined, while Momo and Jihyo were having a very heated game of pool, which you, Mina, Sana and Dahyun all spectated.
“Who do you think’s gonna win?” you heard Dahyun whisper, and all at once, the you, Mina, and Sana all pointed to Jihyo. Laughter erupted from the four of you, leaving Momo and Jihyo shooting questioning looks in your directions, but none of you filled them in for Momo’s sake.
You put your now empty beer bottle on the table, with the other dozen bottles your group had piled up over the time you had been here. You looked over to the bar longingly, knowing it was best to call it quits with the alcohol, but you really wanted another beer. “Come with me?” You asked Mina, tugging at her hand. She nodded and followed you to the bar, next to Jeongyeon and Nayeon, who were laughing obnoxiously at something you didn’t hear.
“Hi, can I get another beer?” You asked the bartender, and she smiled and nodded. Just a second later she returned with the beer in her hands, and you took it and held out a five dollar bill to her.
The bartender, however, shook her head. “It’s on me.” She giggled, eyeing you up and down. “I haven’t seen you in here before. You new around here?”
“Uh, no. Just not a big drinker.” You replied awkwardly.
The bartender nodded, the smile on her face never wavering. “Well, I hope to see you more often. I like seeing pretty faces in here. Though yours is the prettiest I’ve seen all night.” She followed it all up with a wink that made you gulp.
“Oh, uh…thanks…” You mumbled with a small, uncomfortable smile. You thanked her for the beer and turned around just in time to see Mina storming out of the bar.
“Hey, Minari…!” You called after her, but she didn’t turn around, or even acknowledge your call, so you followed her, your beer already long forgotten.
It was cold out, and the last thing you wanted was to be outside, but Mina was standing near the street with her back to you, so you called out to her again. This time, she turned around, and you caught sight of the tears in her eyes.
“Whoa, hey, what’s wrong?” You asked quickly, reaching out to her, but she stepped out of your reach. You frowned, unsure of what was going on- everything was fine just a moment ago, so why the sudden change in attitude? “Minari, what happened?”
Mina laughed coldly, and you winced. “You know, (Y/N), when you’re in a relationship and someone flirts with you, don’t you think you should tell them to, I don’t know, back off?”
“Flirting? Are you talking about the bartender?”
Mina rolled her eyes, and it angered you a bit. “No, I’m talking about Jeongyeon- yes, I’m talking about the bartender.” You bit your lip at Mina’s sassy, sarcastic reply that was less than appreciated, and you stared, partly because you were thinking of something equally sassy to fire back with, and partly because you didn’t think Mina could ever say something like that. The alcohol must have been making her feel bold.
“Hey, it’s not like I flirted back.” You pointed out, crossing your arms over your chest with a huff. “It was one sided.”
“Was it?” Mina questioned accusingly, glaring daggers that made you take a small step back. “Because I sure didn’t see you informing her that you have a girlfriend, who happened to be standing right behind you. To me, that looks like you were welcoming flirting.”
This time it was you who rolled your eyes, and Mina who was biting her lip angrily. “You’re overreacting.” You said bluntly. “What, are you jealous? Are you seriously jealous this?”
You weren’t sure what to expect after accusing her of being jealous, but you definitely weren’t expecting Mina to shove you, hard. You stumbled back a few feet, but regained your balance before you could fall to the floor. “Stop being a bitch.” She growled, her hands clenched in fists as she raised her voice at you.
“I’m sorry, I’m being a bitch?” You spat, stepping forward to get in Mina’s face. “You’re mad for no reason! I didn’t flirt with the bartender, Mina. She flirted with me. You’re blowing this way out of proportion. Why are you so jealous?”
“Because I’m terrified of losing you to someone else!” Mina practically shouted, and you stopped yourself before another word could escape your lips, and suddenly, you felt like the bitch Mina had accused you of being. That’s why Mina was throwing a fit? Because she was afraid of the bartender taking her from you?
“Mina-”
“Can you just drive me home, please?” Mina snapped, her voice sharp. “I want to go home.”
“Fine.”
The car ride was dead silent for the first ten minutes. You weren’t sure what to say, and Mina made it very clear she didn’t want to talk, so you just drove, your thoughts trying to piece together something to say that wouldn’t make Mina any more pissed off than she already was.
“Mina, look,” You started after the silence grew too much to bare, “I’m sorry, okay? You’re right, I should have said something to the bartender.” You spoke quietly, knowing that anything louder would probably set your girlfriend off. She didn’t answer you, but you heard her sniffle. She had been staring out the window ever since you two got in the car- not once did she look at you.
You tried again not a minute later. “Mina, please. I’m sorry.” You reached across with one hand to rest your hand on her leg, but she smacked it away quickly. “Mina.” You repeated, firmly this time, “Look at me for a second.” Again, she refused.
Your next step was to swerve out of the lane you were driving in, onto the shoulder, and stopped the car. “Myoui Mina, look at me.” When she refused again, you reached out with a gentle hand and cupped her chin, turning her head to face you. Her eyes wouldn’t meet yours, but at least you had her attention. “I’m so sorry, Minari-” she shut her eyes at the sound of her nickname coming from your mouth- “I’m stupid. I should have said something and I didn’t. And I’m so, so sorry.” You paused, trying to get Mina to look at you, which, with a little bit of time, she did, her dark eyes meeting yours. “I need you to know that you’re not going to lose me, though. It doesn’t matter how much someone flirts, or how many free drinks they offer me, or whatever. I’m yours, and no one is going to change that, okay? You’ve got nothing to worry about.”
You hadn’t expected Mina to cry, but there she was, sobbing almost instantly after you finished speaking, and you reached for her, pulling her to you in a warm embrace as her body shook while she cried. You whispered to her, telling her it was okay, that it was over and you two were okay, and she clung to you, her hands gripping your shirt as she cried into your shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” you heard her mumble with a shaky voice, “I shouldn’t have gotten so mad. I should have trusted you.”
“It’s okay, Minari.”
Soon enough your car was back on the road, and for the rest of the ride to Mina’s apartment, your hand was holding tight to hers, neither of you ever wanting to let go. It took her a while to stop crying, but with your soft words and touch, her breathing finally steadied and the tears stopped flowing.
When you arrived at Mina’s apartment, you went to release Mina’s hand to give her a hug before she left, but she had other plans. Her grip on your hand was tight, and she pulled you to her, her other hand reaching for the back of your neck as she pressed her lips to yours. You weren’t expecting it, but you welcomed it nonetheless, your free hand sliding onto her thigh as she pulled you closer.
You were both hesitant to break the kiss, but when you did, you pressed your forehead to hers and smiled, not quite ready to separate just yet. “You know I love you, right?” You whispered softly, eyes meeting hers once again.
“I know. I know, and I love you too.”
You shared another sweet kiss that made your head spin, Mina’s hand still holding onto yours, firm and showing no signs of ever letting go. “Don’t go home,” she mumbled against your lips, “Stay with me tonight.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, you nodded. “Okay.”
