Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!
Nickolai of the North - I was incredibly fond of the characters in this book. Probably my favourite book from my childhood, other than the HP series. Speaking of.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - of course the whole series if fabulous, but I particularly love GoF and OotP
Catcher in the Rye - you either love it or you hate it, right? Yeah, I hated this book. Probably because it made me hate myself and think about life. But it's a book that made me think a lot. And that's always good.
Otter in the Outhouse - Have you guys ever heard of the Animal Ark series? I adored those books. Otter in the Outhouse was my favourite, then Pigs at the Picnic. Would recommend to any kid.
Drawn to Life: The Walt Stanchfield Lectures - Totally shifted my perspective on how to see people. In an art sense, of course, but this book and the second volume really changed the way I think.
Silas Marner - I read it in primary school, and it was the first 'non kiddy' book that I read. That stuck with me. It was right after that that I undertook Frankenstein. That was pretty awesome.
Stormbreaker - My mum was never one for buying me girly books about typically girly things, so when she bought me Stormbreaker, a book mainly aimed at boys, she did good :) I love the Alex Rider series, and they made me think more analytically about problems. I can remember thinking about stuff and saying to myself, 'what would alex do?'. Plus I loved Sabina like a crazy amount.
Shakespeare's Secret - just a really lovely story that presented light conspiracy theories in a non confrontational way. I really enjoyed this book. Hero was a very cool main character. And I totally didn't even think of this as YA. Those were the good days.
The BFG - Actually, all the Roald Dahl books. They were amazing. They made me very happy. This was my favourite because of the detail given to the dreams and the giants and the descriptions of the food. Food in books I read as a kid always stuck with me, really bad. Also, the term 'pack of wolves' always made me think of mcdonalds chips, but with a little less salt.
The Little Princess - Danggggg this book. Makes me genuinely emotional whenever I think of it. I adored this book. It was fantastic.
Adding one extra one because I can't leave it out; as far as imagery and prompts go, The Firework Maker's Daughter is powerfully etched in my head. I got it as an audiobook from the library when I was 8 or 9, and I can still picture so many scenes from it, despite not having read it for so many years.
You can pretty much read my emotional age from this. Wow.
Uhhh tagging um yeah no need to do this if you don't want to
