anyone else on Minastrin getting screwed over
when the birth control that you’re being put on for irregular periods, heavy periods & menstrual cramps/pelvic pain is causing awful nausea and you still have pelvic pain/cramps without even being on your period….
and when your doctor’s recommendation to you after you ask her nurse for a different brand of BC, is: oh just take the medicine at night, instead of in the morning.
so.. I don’t know which is more annoying. nausea all morning and throwing up a few hours into my day, or being unable to sleep because of nausea and vomiting or almost vomiting.
Submission from @plumtezuka:
hi!! im Taylor and I’ve been taking minastrin for about two years now (since I was 16)!
I love it because before I started using it I had awful, painful periods that came seemingly at random, but now they’re much lighter, more regular, and way less painful!!
Minastrin is a combined birth control (estrogen and progesterone) with very low levels of hormones and a structure that makes periods shorter. I’m so glad you love it! It’s awesome to have light, regular, less-painful periods!!
While I was still on my parents insurance, the insurance company fucked up and sent me like 6 months of my birth control for free after I had already filled a three month prescription. But then I got on my new insurance, which didn’t cover my particular brand so I got a new 3 month prescription for a new free birth control.
Long story short I have 9 months worth of birth control in my drawer.
I have a whole baby’s worth.
For free.
I feel more calm now im trusting minastrin
Dear everyone
So recently i had a very close pregnancy scare; which probably would not have been as bad if I were not 16 years old. After I missed my first period, I took a test that said positive. Then I took about 5 more that all said negative. By now, I have missed my fourth period, which may be dangerous considering I am on the birth control pill. My mother is taking me to the doctor as soon as she can schedule an appointment because although my problem may be as unharmful as an uneven hormone dosage in my birth control, it could be ANYTHING. I have no idea what is going on with my body. I have been on Minastrin for two years now, and this is the only time this has ever happened to me. I just want to know if anyone else has had a problem similar to this, and just want someone to vent to. I would appreciate it, and any hate I receive will not be reported, but deleted and ignored.
Thanks guys.

You guys, I'm on the placebo parts of my birth control pills right now and man do they taste funky. I'll tell you what they taste like: have you ever brushed your teeth so hard that they bleed? That's what it tastes like! I mean, my Minastrin FE pills do at least. First you eat them and I think they tried to make them taste like breath mints or something---something minty, spearminty....but it doesn't have the same consistency of breath mints (these are chewable pills FYI). It tastes like toothpaste. And I guess I never really realized that there was a huge difference in taste of flavor between breath mints and toothpaste, but man, I have discovered that there is. And this is what it tastes like. I'm assuming that the pills have some iron in them, which explains for the blood like aftertaste. There's a lot of iron in your blood (or there's supposed to be), which is why your blood has a bit of a metal taste. So when you're eating iron, that's why it tastes like blood. At least, this is what I feel like I have heard at some point in my life. Don't take my word for this.
Any way, it's not a big deal at all. But man, the aftertaste.
What do your birth control pills taste like?
