How exactly did House Minett go about their establishing? Are their any Minetts still alive who around during the founding of House Minett?
Shortly after Seraphina became consort, she asked the king to invite her family, an acclaimed family of merchants and artisans, to help with rebuilding Nohr’s commerce infrastructure (restoring business relations with neighbors, redrawing trade routes, etc). This way, the family firmly nestled themselves quickly in King Garon’s circle, much to the chagrin of all the other existing Nohrian nobles, hence the many acts of violence done onto the Minett family and more fighting down in Fallmount between groups.
The Minetts took advantage of the fact that the area that would become Janholt already had a growing majority of peoples with strong Nestrian roots to curry favor with the locals and convince the king that perhaps zoning off Janholt as its own province would lessen the strained relations in Fallmount and ease the Nestrian majority from Theresa’s terrorizing ways if some actual Nestrians were in charge. The king, eager for quick solutions, seconded the motion, and now the Minetts had a home base. Combine that with the prestige they’ve accumulated (siring/adopting successful royal children, acclaimed military relations, finding and sponsoring really good magic researchers, etc), they’ve pretty much got a seat at the table with the other major noble houses. They’re still considered very new, and their standing is still questioned to this day, but most people accept them as a major noble house.
Julius’s parents are still around, if I remember correctly, or his mother Nadia definitely is. They’re just not main players anymore because they handed the reins over to their son peacefully after Julius retired from the Nohrian military. I also like to believe that the Minetts have a profoundly large amount of extended family back in Nestra, but communication is difficult over long distances, so the kids wouldn’t know them very well except through very sparse business relations.
