“You aren’t understanding Vernon. I have to make it right anyhow”,i burnt the patty for burger again and Vernon is of no help. I would rather Coups be here. “ It’s okay y/n, you can try it again or maybe change the recipe”, he said. How can he be so calm?
“ oh no no i have to make this burger and then i will bake the cake and also i have to make fries,gyudon and”, i took a pause cause i forgot. How can I forget? “ahhhhhhhh i forgot what else i had to make”, i started pacing up and down. And Vernon started eating the pineapples enjoying the show.
“ i brought everything you wanted y/n”, coups entered. I rushed to him, “ Coups , please come and help me with the cooking”. I rant and took the groceries from his hand. “ it’s going to be okay y/n don’t worry the dishes are so easy”, he said , “ and i am here to save the day”, he patted my head and rolled his sleeves. I am glad he came.
“ So where should I start?”he asked. “ Start with the rice for gyudon. I am going to focus on the burger and vernon you should”, i stopped midway looking at him enjoying his pineapples, “ you should keep eating that and entertain me okay”, they both nodded.
While Coups was washing the rice, Vernon said, “ hyung please don’t burn the rice okay”, i too hope he won’t mess up, “ yah i won’t it was only once”, coups pouted. He is the eldest but sulks like a baby.
Finally after struggling for 4 hours we were done with burgers, gyudon and the cake. I made both of them taste it and they said it tastes good. But I am nervous.and why shouldn’t I be? I am just a normal cook who can cook only normal things but he is a chef literally. What if he doesn’t like the food ? Wonwoo said they would be coming soon. So all that’s left is to decorate the house and it’s already 10pm. We started decorating the room with black and golden balloons. It took us nearly an hour and a half to complete it and I was super satisfied with the results.
To be honest he is the aesthetic one and he does all these so perfectly and i am just like a dumb person with no clue but thanfully to pinterest and youtube i was able to do it. It was time for him to come. Wonwoo texted Vernon that they left from the studio and they will be now reaching in 20 minutes.
“ y/n you should go and get changed there’s not enough time left now”, coups said. I looked at the time. Actually there isn’t much time left for me to go and get changed. So I rushed to my room.
I picked up the dress he bought for me on my birthday and changed as quickly as possible. I tried doing some hairstyles and definitely failed so I simply tied it up in a pony and then went downstairs. And thankfully I wasn't late. Wonwoo texted then that they reached. It was already 11:58.
Vernon turned all the lights off. And my clock chimed 11.59. I started counting. They must be unloading their stuff from the car. And the door opened and it was exactly 12.00, “ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINGYU”, the three of us screamed and coups popped the party popper. And then wonwoo turned on the light and a surprised puppy looking giant man was standing at the door smiling from ear to ear. He looked so happy. I am glad. This means a lot to me cause this man meant a lot to me.
Everyone wished him and hugged him and then he approached me and hugged me, “ HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM MINGYU”, i said slowly and kissed his cheeks and he blushed, “ thank you y/n”.
He looked everywhere and then pulled out his phone and started taking pictures. “ yah Miingyu let’s go and eat you will click pictures later”, coups said. “ Yes Mingyu we all are hungry please”, wonwoo agreed to coups too.
“ alright alright let’s go”, mingyu said and kept his phone. “ woah what’s all this and this cake looks so pretty”, he said. “ hyung y/n made all these”, Vernon pointed at me. “ no i mean yes but vernon and coups helped me a lot”, i said being flustered. He came and kissed my head, “ thank you for all this baby” and then smiled looking into my eyes. And then we heard the sound of the flash and a very sneaky wonwoo just clicked that moment, “ wonwoo whyyyy”, I yelped. He just smiled.
Gyu cut the cake and then we devoured it like some wild hungry animals. It wasn’t that bad though. He said it is good and that’s enough for me. Everyone ate happily. Vernon enjoyed the burgers way too much and Gyu loved the gyudon. I was scared he might not like it, “ it’s perfect y/n”, he said, eating just a bite of it. After eating all of us were lazing around while the birthday boy cleaned everything by himself. And then everyone left for their room.
“ It's so late y/n why don’t you stay tonight”, Mingyu said, holding my hands and making his puppy eyes, “ moreover it’s my birthday”. I thought for a minute and then replied, “ okay okay i will stay”, i said and ruffled his hair and he got way too happy and kissed me.
We were then laying down in his bed and talking when he said, “ you know you are one of the best things that happened to me”, and turned over to face me. “ I know because you are the best thing that happened to me Gyu”, i took a pause and looked at him and put my hands on his cheek, “ You came to my life when it was full of darkness and showed me light. You make me feel worthy and make me the happiest. When I talk to you or see you after a shitty day you just make my day way too better. And i never say this much so thank you for being with me”, i had tears in my eyes then.i don’t cry much but i don’t know why i cried. “ hushh don’t cry baby it’s my birthday remember”, he wiped away my tears.
I rested my head in his arms and closed my eyes, “ y/n”, he said slowly. “ Hmm”, I replied. “ I love you”, he said hugging me, “ I love you too Gyu”, i replied hugging him back and magically fell asleep.
