one of these days I'm making a t-shirt that says "THE WHOLE VICTORIAN-DOCTORS-TREATING-WOMEN-WITH-ORGASMS THING WAS MADE UP BY AUTHOR RACHEL MAINES IN THE 1990S AFTER WILLFULLY MISINTERPRETING PRIMARY SOURCES"

(popular musician just posted a video about wanting to be "a hysterical woman in the 1880s." it's a tongue-in-cheek thing, of course, mostly based around the idea that actual introspection and growth are Hard and free orgasms are Easy, but. people are believing it. of course.)

(and she's prancing around in, variously, a lolita dress and what looks like two different Amazon Schuyler Sisters costumes so like. Do You Know When The 1880s Even Was?)

(i wouldn't mind if I knew everybody would get that it's a joke but. I have been in my full standard Casual Late 1870s attire at work and gotten "oh, are you dressed in Colonial costume? :D" from guests so)

seeing people complain about the prototype's design is funny in the bad way because it mostly sums up to "waaah waaaahhh why isn't the prototype a ROTTING CORPSE ATTACHED TO A ROBOT BODY in a GAME that's MARKETED FOR KIDS"

twitter critics and such need to shut the hell up for once because a jester actually FITS for The Prototype on a universal scale, a rotting corpse robot thing wouldn't make sense considering the entire game takes place in a FACTORY that used to make toys for kids, and the entire bigger bodies thing (from what I know) was made to make mascots or something.

sorry for ranting but PLEASE, don't be upset at mob entertainment for a design that looks good AND makes sense for The Prototype.

I bet there's a strong correlation between people who let their cats run around outside and people who dislike zoos. Too many people use a romanticized narrative of animals and do not have the tools, mindset, etc. to learn the reality of domestic and wild animals, the reality of zoos (especially versus sanctuaries and such), and the difference between their cultural expectations of what happiness looks like versus what different animals actually look like when they're happy.

Animals need good food and positive stimulation. Most of their needs are on a species by species basis. No, no one is breaking up a family by separating the jaguar cub from the mother. No one is separating the jaguar family by keeping the male separate. If a typical "nuclear family" model is attempted, there will be bloodshed, stress, and probably death.

"But the animal looks sad!" Do you know what a happy animal of that species looks like? Most people don't even know what a happy domestic animal looks like, often leading to unnecessary stress on the animal and injury for both parties. I've had people tell me that my old kitty looked angry and unhappy. They told me that when I took a picture of her cuddling and purring on my lap. If my cat smiles at you? You're about to bleed.

If you're worried about it, take the time to look it up and question what standards of happiness you're imposing on a different species. Hell, question what standards of happiness you're imposing on different human cultures! A well treated animal is a happy animal, whether in a zoo or in a home. If your cat is stressed by being indoors, check out what stimulation you're offering. If an animal is genuinely stressed at a zoo, they have options to go hide and de-stress. Promise.

i cannot believe hopoo seriously went and said "okay it's time to finally return to our original child game. the game that we put so much love to at an early time and though it was flawed, it was still a gem. We're going to make it an even better gem now. but also QOL is easy peasy who cares for that lets add a fuck ton more enemies, a HUGE update to all sprites with so much more detail that still (((FUCKING SOMEHOW???))) retains the charm of the original, accessibility options for those who want to play with their friends on higher difficulties, implement a majority of ROR2 items as well as alternate abilities, give you fun minigame modes to unlock more things, let Christodoulou go absolutely nuts with touching up all of your favorite tracks, DOUBLE the entire roster to a wonderful degree, MAKE THE GAME ONLY FIFTEEN DOLLARS- and oh yeah also here's animated Providence being a fucking sex magnet as well he should."
