6 and 16 for the ask meme?
6. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to writing?
Blocking!!! I have less trouble with this when writing action heavy scenes, I guess because I’m paying closer attention to what people are doing? But god, writing scenes where people are sitting around talking is frustrating! I love the talking, but the moving around is difficult. Did they move from their chair? Did they already touch that other characters shoulder? Have I used the same dialogue tag too much instead of an action beat? How many times have they met someone’s eyes? This is always what I have to fix most when I’m doing like, line edits.
16. What’s more frustrating: plotholes or OOC characters?
OOC characters for a thousand miles. I will fairly easily forgive plotholes (to a point) but not so much characters not acting like themselves (unless they’re MEANT to not be acting like themselves as part of an emotional arc). Way way WAY too many things are so plot focused now that they shoe-horn character as a result, and I am of the firm belief that plot overall comes from character (what doesn’t might come from outside forces) and that character doesn’t come from plot. I get Mad when characters act OOC way more than I do about plot holes, definitely.
