She knew, intellectually, such delicacies weren't widely held as edible, but this desert was as harsh as the Wood, and meat was meat.

The kitten bounced on the side of the oversized bed, her twin leaning against the wall. "But we're bored, Aunt Okhi!"
"Help you hunt," she offered. "Later. Let me sleep?"

He smiled that punchable smile. "No more than you might blame rodents nesting in the walls, yet you eradicate your lessers all the same."

Okhi choked on her sandwich, coughing loudly. "What?"
"You danced for her," Lyra explained.
Tyra looked up from her book. "You like her."
"You can't blame us for listening in, that's how we learn!"

Okhi wasn't a particularly effective fugitive.
She snuck back into the other cities recklessly, merely hoping that nobody would recognize her passing.
Fingers crossed.
"Bold as brass," a lilting voice commented. "You ain't even tryin' t'hide yourself."
She frowned.
"Don't you worry none. Ain't no Ul'dahn snitches wiv the Rogues."

The kits were greedy for knowledge. Okhi found that new information kept them busy - and, more importantly, out of trouble - for at least a while.
"Leastwise not left handed. The metal don't bend that way."
Naturally, the next hour was spent studying her arm.
