Because it is the OTP I will ship through all 9 circles of hell. It's the only couple that can give me feels every time I think about it, whether what I'm thinking of is happy or sad. Because they are fucking perfect, and no one can tell me otherwise.

Incoming Headcanons!

who cooks normally?: They share a relatively equal hold over cooking, when they have the chance to do it that is. Miranda likes to make the effort to surprise Shepard with a meal when he's been busy, but can't deny that she loves to see her man in the kitchen.

how often do they fight?: When they first met, and well into their service together on the Normandy SR-2, they were constantly at each others throats, but after an argument that burst into utter cataclysm, Miranda realized that she wasn't trying to control her project, but was hurting a living and breathing man. After that, they entered a symbiotic friendship that blossomed into romance. From there on out, the only thing close to fighting they do is argue and bicker from time to time.

what do they do when they’re away from each other?: They carry on. If distance separates the two it is usual because of something crucial. They talk when they can, and wish they could be together, but both are trained soldiers, and know that a distracted mind could turn a mission that was once well off into complete and utter hell.

nicknames for each other?: Shepard likes to tease, and calls her "Miranda-panda," but that particular nickname usually pisses her off, so he tends to stick with "Miranda" or "Lawson" if they're particularly playful. She on the other hand almost always calls Shepard "Shepard", unless she is trying to get a point across, or he's in trouble, then it's "John".

who is more likely to pay for dinner?: Sheploo, all the way. Miranda is independent, but she likes to be pampered. (And, of course, Shep is a complete gentleman)

who steals the covers at night?: Usually, cover-stealing isn't necessary. The two are almost always pressed up against each other while they're asleep.

what would they get each other for gifts?: Miranda, of course, gets Shepard every model ship set she stumbles across since she discovered his collection while Shepard tends to surprise her by organizing a comm buoy with Oriana, or a hologram that depicts a symphony playing Neilson's Fifth.

who kissed who first?: Shepard kissed Miranda first, after Kasumi's loyalty mission, and she advised the Master Thief to keep her lover's memories.

who made the first move?: In the big scheme of things, Miranda did. After her fight with Shepard, she caught wind of Hackett's request for Shepard to touch down at the crash site of the Normandy SR-1. She knew every other apology of hers wouldn't be listened to, so she met him at the shuttle despite his orders to go the mission alone. He obviously didn't want her there, but she explained herself and told him that she knew touching down on Alchera would hurt him emotionally, and she needed to show him she cared in a way he would understand.

who remembers things?: They both do, and they use those memories against each other constantly.

who started the relationship?: Miri did. After Shepard planted one on her, she immediately got flustered between the action itself and the butterflies in her stomach that seemed to have wings of fire. She asked him for some time to think, and he willingly complied though she didn't keep him waiting long. She tried rationalizing her feelings, and attempted to make heads or tails about everything that was happening but she found it ultimately useless. She showed up at his door hours after their kiss, and surprised him with a kiss of her own. She explained that for once, the answer wasn't hidden in a book or encrypted data scrolling up her terminal. Instead, the choice was ultimately hers, and she allowed her heart to push her in the right direction.

who cusses more?: Miranda does, and it's an easy way for Shepard to tell when she's flustered, or pissed, or a combination of both.

what would they do if the other one was hurt?: Be there in a heartbeat to protect them and carry them to safety.They share a unique connection on the battlefield and always seem to react in tandem with each other. When one ducks, the other fires. When one fires, the other defends, and when one is hurt, the other knows.

I really need to physically beat my fan fiction in the face this week, or else I'm just going to keep putting off writing, and instead spend all of my time sitting/blowing up tumblr.
