Some quick sketches for Ophelia, still trying to find a style. I tried my best to stay true to her description, although I am still not 100% sure about the jacket and skirt combo. Still, I hope you like it

@leftonreid posted about wanting to know what came in the little purple booklet that was a bonus in the Passe-Miroir box set!
I am happy to help out! I will just post all my pictures here in case anyone else was curious about the box set and the purple booklet
Part 1: the box itself
nobody understands the relationship between a girl and her obsession with The Mirror Visitor Quartet (she will never know peace again)
A WINTER’S PROMISE by Christelle Dabos
I first read the mirror visitor when I was 11, obviously I didn’t like it. Like, arranged marriage ? An ADULT mc ?? The summary talked about some deadly conspiracy and I saw NONE in the first book ??? Yeah I didn’t buy the second
But then I’m 16 and my friend has read it and she tells me to reread it with my teenage eyes, I do so and I FALL IN LOVE
I read the next 3 books in three month (while reading them only at school, that’s fast) I fell even more in love. Like. The worldbuilding ? The characters ?? The love story which was only a subplot ??? PEAK (genuinely these are my top3 requirements for any book)
The moral of the story is : was that book bad or were you just too young to appreciate it ?
PS : idk about you English folks but a graphic novel was released recently I bought it it’s absolutely AMAZING the drawings are perfect I can’t wait for the second to come out
A pet peeve of mine is that I fucking HATE HATE HATE when a book describes a character as "unattractive", either said by the narrator or any of the characters (yes even if they talk about themselves) and some ppl make them look like fucking CARICATURE.
Like, girl no. It's not just either "sexy-god/goddess" or "rat-from-a-sewer" look, with no in between. If someone isn't conventionally attractive, it doesn't mean they automatically look like a fucking Picasso painting. My god, just look outside! There are standards of beauty nowadays too! Do you think everyone's hideous that don't fit into today's beauty standards?
Hopefully not. People can look "unattractive" yet beautiful for God's sake. Not being aesthetically pleasing isn't the same as looking like a fucked up human experiment 🙂
(also, if your answer to my previous question was "yes", please do us all a favor and change and grow as a person, thanks)
My favourite time of year is when I finally finish a book series and get to add the tag to my list so I can finally see everyone else feeling all the feelings
Mirror Visitor × One Piece
Okay hear me out I only started reading The Mirror Visitor / La Passe-miroir last year (and I just finished vol. 3) and I also started One Piece last year (and finished Enies Lobby) so I'm sure the parallel has been made already but. Still. I want to write it down here :
Both series feature cities in the sky
Self-proclaimed God
a place on the ground that got split in 2 when ejected into the air and you can still see where the break was made (yes, I'm still mentioning Skypiea)
A variety of powers divided in types
Hidden cities and people
a Babel referenced big library with scientists from all around the world
Governments wanting to interfere in those research
Pretending they act for world peace
Censorship around one specific time of world history
A revolution that uses oranges /mandarins as a symbol
The sky place is collapsing
I'm sure there is more but for that I have to continue watching and reading both series 🤦🏻♀️ in fact, they are just based off the same tropes (that you can link to Castle in the sky and the Bible) but still I found interesting to find links in series that are so deeply different in tone
