And another thing, it will forever break my heart how Thorn thinks Berenilde doesn’t love him and has no need for him after Victoire was born. And then Ms.Dabos has THE NERVE to give us Victoire’s pov where we see how upset Berenilde really is abt Thorn’s disappearance she’s literally depressed/distraught. And he thinks she doesn’t care for him😭shut up that’s literally her baby boy even if he’s off defying god on the other side of the world
These books, man.

@leftonreid posted about wanting to know what came in the little purple booklet that was a bonus in the Passe-Miroir box set!
I am happy to help out! I will just post all my pictures here in case anyone else was curious about the box set and the purple booklet
Part 1: the box itself
Mediana they could never make me hate you
I love every secondary character in The mirror visitor, and Mediana is truly a testament to how good they are imo. Like she's a minor antagonist, she's a bully, she blackmails Ophelie for her own personnal goal in the worse way possible. But she's SO interesting (and not only because she's a hot androgynous bisexual woman ok). She is ready to do anything to get information and reach her lifegoal, but as Ophelie gets from just one sentence, it costed her so much more than she is willing to admit. She sees people as wells of information and talent to obtain via her powers and as she puts it (roughly translated from my french copy of book three): "I put my hands on many, many experts. And I allowed them, in return, to put their hands on me". That tells us so much about the extent she is willing to go, trading her body against that well of knowledge.
And don't get me started on her ending. It's so in character but so tragic, renouncing everything for "the ultimate knowledge". Ok I don't have any more coherent thoughts bye
I finished The Memory of Babel today!!
I posted before that I worried about being introduced to new characters, but I’m glad I continued reading because there were definitely some gems such as Ambrose, Blaise, and Octavio.
I still enjoyed the mystery and was desperate to know more! And getting to explore a new Ark was fun, even though I missed the Pole a whole lot more.
Victoria’s POV chapters however were a breath of fresh air, and were rather intriguing. I loved the chapter where Farouk visited her and loved even more that he was able to see her when she was using her ability. It so sweet that he was protective over her! I also love how much she looks up to Archibald, their relationship is almost that of a father and daughter, and it’s just the cutest!!
I of course loved Ophelia and Thorn’s relationship development, and The Words chapters has to be one of my favourites of the whole book!
I found the theme of censorship to be the most interesting, especially considering that it can reflect back on today’s society and how books are being censored to this very day. It was interesting to see that portrayed in a semi-fictional world (I say semi since the world used to be Earth). I had never read a book depicting strong censorship before, or at least not that I can recall, and I enjoyed learning about it this book, and getting to understand why it is like that.
Anyway, despite not being my favourite of the series, it’s still noteworthy and I still enjoyed it immensely!
