do you know any other good blogs for other communities?? (possibly for other pds or mental illnesses?)

Hey.

We have our own forum that you can use to communicate with other people who have AvPD here(link) if you’d like. As for other AvPD blogs, there are suggestion blogs you can find in the #actuallyavoidant tag. Not sure if there are other community blogs. The AvPD Reddit board is probably your best bet for a community environment. Or AvPD sub forums on mental illness forums like PsychBoards. 

For any kind of mental illness blog, I think ShitBorderlinesDo is a good place to try for BPD. That blog reaches a lot of people but it’s not always a positive environment so keep that in mind. Any of our followers want to recommend other MI community blogs?

heeey do u mind if i just vent here? it's just that today i watched and movie about ballet and i just spent the day thinking about it. I really love dance and music of any kind and my passion is ballet and i used to dance, and love it, but i started feeling so scared of being judged or humiliated that i had to stop, and i miss it very much. Ugh i just hate avpd so much, damn i love it so much but i just can't anymore. I wish avpd had a cure.

You’re welcome to vent here, my friend. I’m sorry to hear that you stopped dancing, it must be awful when you love it so much. I really hope you take it up again one day, I’m sure you’re amazing at it. Remember AvPD is treatable. - Jay.

That’s amazing! I’m happy for you! That’s a huge statistic. Nothing feels better than all of your hard work paying off. I know this ask is getting posted a little later than you sent it, but when I first read it, I immediately couldn’t help but smiling, too. I can feel how happy you are just from this message.

I can't stop avoiding school and friends and everything, I just go to sleep to forget about reality and so I don't have responsibilities :( avpd is taking over my life

I’m sorry to hear that you feel that way, but it’s good that you reached out to us. Sometimes just getting things off your chest can help. I know you feel alone but remember that there are so many people out there that care about you- your family, your friends (yes, even if you haven’t seen them for a while), and us! We are always here if you need to vent or want advice. If you are ever in a crisis, please don’t hesitate to use our Crisis Support(link). There are online, non-phone options as well as traditional phone services. I really encourage you to reach out to your friends and let them know how you’re feeling. Good friends will be able to support you and help you through this. I also recommend that you reach out to your school counselor, maybe take a friend along for emotional support. Take care. - Jay.

(1/2) Is it an AvPD thing to fantasize about bad things happening that force you to be close to someone so you wouldn't have to do it yourself? Like I daydream about getting mild hypothermia so my friend has to cuddle me for warmth to get me back to

(2/2) health, so I get cuddles without having to admit I need them. But if it actually happened I’d probably just hide in my room and deal with it on my own. Is that avoidant thinking or just fear of intimacy/vulnerability, and what’s the difference?

Hey there.

As far as I am aware, that is not an AvPD trait. It sounds like it’s a specific way that your brain has developed to try to overcome the fear that comes with needing to ask for intimacy from others. It could be a result of any number of mental illnesses or life experiences.

In any case, it is not how a mentally healthy person would go about relating to others, so I would recommend speaking to a professional who might be more equipped to help you work out what’s going on here, and how to change how you relate to others.

Hello! The dating abuse masterlist we recently reblogged was actually made by another blog called loveisrespect (if I remember correctly). They seem to be a blog specifically about dating but if we see any posts about family abuse, we’ll post them!

We current do not have any recommended blogs, however this ask does make me want to create a recommendation page. So, I will begin looking into that. 

In the meantime, can some of our followers recommend any blogs? Also, if you would like your blog recommended, please send us an Ask or Submission of your blog URL so we can check it out.
