Paul à Québec [Paul in Quebec City] (François Bouvier - 2015)
Are you still writing for Misoneism?
Of course! In fact, I intend to extend the chapter account, now that you mention it. Thank you for reminding me, LOL. Someone wondered how I would fit the entirety of Rin's life in five chapters and the truth is I cannot! Because it seems I'll be writing more for the foreseeable future, but everything is planned, so worry not!
Man and his symbols
It is easy to understand why dreamers tend to ignore and even deny the message of their dreams. Consciousness naturally resists anything unconscious and unknown. I [Carl Jung] have already pointed out the existence among primitive peoples of what anthropologists call 'misoneism,' a deep and superstitious fear of novelty. The primitives manifest all the reactions of the wild animal against untoward events. But 'civilized' man reacts to new ideas in much the same way, erecting psychological barriers to protect himself from the shock of facing something new. This can easily be observed in any individual's reaction to his own dreams when obliged to admit a surprising thought. Many pioneers in philosophy, science, and even literature have been victims of innate conservatism of their contemporaries. Psychology is one of the youngest of the sciences; because it attempts to deal with the working of the unconscious, it has inevitably encountered misoneism in an extreme form.

Word of the Week: Misoneism

Misoneism
\mis-oh-NEE-iz-uhm, mahy-soh-\, noun:
hatred or dislike of what is new or represents change
I can't begin to explain how relevant this word will always be
Word of the Day: Misoneism
Misoneism (mis-oh-NEE-iz-uhm, mahy-soh-)
Noun
1. hatred or dislike of what is new or represents change
Origin: comes from the Greek miso + neos meaning "hatred" and "new"
Befuddling of the day: Oh those Death Grips scamps with their show cancelling, suicidal fan e-mail-exhibiting and penis-featuring artwork. What larks! For whatever criticism you want to aim at them, the Sacramento crew can never be called boring. The latest rumbling from the DG camp is that drummer Zach Hill has directed a short film called Misoneism about "the underground prostitution business" in Brazil, which stars Robert Pattinson (what young Twlight fans, who'd discover the band through association, would think of Ex-Military is a fascinating thought) and Colin Hanks (son of Tom), with a soundtrack written by the band (The track "Birds" released earlier in the year was taken from this soundtrack).
This news was broken in an e-mail to music website Pigeons And Planes, as well as several other smaller sites (bit disappointed Hitsville isn't on your mailing list, guys)... but, and here comes the befuddling part, this statement has now been refuted by the band, who told Pitchfork that the news isn't true, there's no short film and they don't know who sent that e-mail.
Now, let's take account of some facts here:
There is a photo of the band, Robert Pattinson and Colin Hanks (at least we think that's Colin Hanks). And Beyonce, but she probably isn't involved in the film.
The band's Tumblr has wiped clean, as was mentioned in the mysterious e-mail. For what reason is unknown however.
There is an image similar in style to the artwork for "Birds" which seems to advertise Misoneism as a short film by Hill for release in 2014.
This is a band who leaked their last album before release date and against the wishes of their major label, and who seemingly do whatever the fuck they want, so denying the existence of this film seems very much in their modus operandi.
So, whatever happens, we'll let you know.
