Let's Talk About: Common Courtesy and Misophonia

Misophonia is, if you haven't heard the term before, is basically selective sound sensitivity.  It's often coupled with OCPD, and is pretty uncommon, but basically hell.  It's being automatically and violently triggered by repetitive sounds (for me, chewing, swallowing, gulping, humming, breathing, or whistling, just to name some) or actions (someone chewing gum, licking their lips after eating).  When you see/hear these things--especially from a family member--, your fight-or-flight response is triggered, and you either want to immediately run away, or make the sound stop any way you can, no matter how violent or graphic it may be, no matter how anti-violence you are.  NOTE: This isn't just hating the sound of _____, it's way more.  Ask me if you have a specific question!

This ties in to common courtesy, which a lot of people lack.  I've given up on telling people about my violent trigger to whistling, or even asking them to stop, because they always decide that that means "IT'S FUNNY TO WHISTLE AROUND HER." Tl;dr, if someone tells you to stop something, STOP.

My family is coming over today for thanksgiving, my mom had to work on thanksgiving so we couldn't have it on the actual day. i don't want to go downstairs i just want to stay in my room hidden underneath my blankets sleeping all day. I just want to hide. I just don't want to hear them eating thats all
