Next year I am producing a 1 hour tribute to "Celebrate Melba Moore." It will feature 12 songs she is known for (also my favorites) and I will of course reconstruct each one with fresh edits and remixes. Kudos to @RonnieHerel for bringing light to this legend of soul and R&B! Reposted from @misoulradio ❤️ Happy Birthday to Singer and actor Melba Moore who is one of our headline artists performing at Margate Soul Festival 2021 - “Celebrating Women in Soul” ❤️ Melba More has crossed mediums, genres, and generations. For decades, Moore has knocked down walls and kicked down doors, paving the way for African American actresses, singers, and entertainers of all kinds. She won a Tony Award for best featured actress in a musical for her role in the musical "Purlie," was the first black woman to replace a white actress (Diane Keaton) in the lead role of the Broadway musical "Hair," and became the first African American woman to play the female lead in the musical "Les Misérables" on Broadway. In her singing career, Moore rose to the top of the charts with hits like "Falling," "You Stepped Into My Life," "Love’s Comin’ At Ya," and "A Little Bit More" — just to name a few. She then took her talents to television, where she starred in her own sitcom, "Melba." But it was with Melba Moore ‘s incredible Philly soul version of the song "You Stepped Into My Life", that she truly captured our hearts ... released on her 1978 Epic Records album Melba produced by McFadden & Whitehead ; this low profile Bee Gees cover was a breakout dance floor hit for Moore and a ‘Paradise Garage Larry Levan’ classic ❤️ 📸@jackrobinsonphotography . . . . #melbamoore #misoulradio #womeninsoul #margatesoulfestival #margate2021 #ticketsonsalenow #yousteppedintomylife #larrylevan #postdisco #lovetheoneimwith #leanonme #thisisit #rnb (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHFQUO4p7SS/?igshid=1r5p9p1pxva6f
