I need to know is someone here has read ENEMIES CLOSER SNOWBAZ FIC BY MISSBLISS12 its the best shit ive ever read in my fucking life and i desperately need someone to yap abt it.

If you havent its basically a 200k long watford au where baz is tasked in first year to BEFRIEND Simon instead of being his enemy. The prose is gorgeous and the Harry Potter level of world building is even better than Carry On itself. You NEED to read it seriously, it'll change your life.

Ask Box Now Open!

I just got a really nice message that reminded me I haven’t opened my ask box yet! Oh dear, how did that escape my notice?

My ask box is now open for anyone who has questions, suggestions, conversation - anything! As long as it’s not hateful... though an open door is an invitation to all kinds of visitors...

So, I suppose the ask box is open to art fans, reylo fans, neutrals, and antis. That being said, if you have disagreements about what I post or believe, please try to use constructive and respectful language. If I have differing opinions, I will also try my best to honor your viewpoint and not devolve into name-calling or insults. Some of these warnings might be too pessimistic, but I’ve seen some other reylo blogs get hate, so I want to set some guidelines. We will try our best in this space to be compassionate even if we have different experiences and stances.

But I do want to hear different viewpoints - I’m all about difficult empathy.

Anyway, I love hearing from other folks, and the lack of an ask box was an oversight, not a shut door. Please send me serious or light, academic or silly, angsty or fluffy, short or long asks!

In these trying times, there are bright spots. (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

So my copy of @missbliss12​‘s gorgeous artbook actually arrived earlier this week, but because I am a dumbbutt who procrastinates things that I enjoy like opening newly arrived packages, I’ve only just got to it. 

That being said, I’m real happy to finally have my hands on it. I’d actually been wanting to purchase it ever since she first made mention of the idea back in January, I’ve just been waiting on my financial aid check to come in the mail (yes, I still get it sent to my mail, I am old man, I tried signing up for direct deposit and some weird shit happened bc of the bank and I wasn’t able to, what do).

Anyways, just thought I’d do what everyone else who’s gotten the book so far has done and take pictures and make a post (which is difficult seeing as I have shaky hands and/or am terrible at taking pics). Thought I’d highlight the “Rose’s Adventure” comic that singlehandedly converted me into a gingerrose/gingerflower shipper. ;3

Miss Bliss, your artwork is amazing and has been an inspiration to me in recent months. Thanks for giving us a way of supporting you as an artist! <3

I love to see meta responses to my art! I hadn’t thought about SW subverting the mother death trope, but it adds a whole new layer. I also only really began to like Han in the sequels, when his cool cockiness is deconstructed.Having this ideal manly man become vulnerable because of his attachment to his child, and then to see him tormented by their separation, is touching. He succeeds by becoming emotionally attuned to his child instead of being a tough distant hero.

Awww!! That’s wonderful to hear, thank you. I know artists don’t always want long comments added to their art posts, so I made a separate post to comment with a link - but it’s really lovely that you saw it and liked it!

Total agreement re: Han. Both he and Luke become more... people I can understand and sympathetize with because they’re not male power fantasies anymore in the ST.

And all the awesome meta about the Prodigal Son has really been making me think about how that story is a world of men? Father and two sons. A mother isn’t even mentioned. And the father’s position, though loving, is a particular kind of authoritative love, not vulnerable/physically broken and sacrificial love.

So, even within that parallel, there’s something powerful and special here. Especially considering that IX was intended to be “Carrie’s movie” and really focus on HER, a mother, as the Prodigal Son’s parental/authority figure who accepts his redemption...

I am very sorry we won’t get to see that version of the story. Hopefully they will combine the footage they have of Carrie with, perhaps, Luke playing a more ghostly/symbolic role to make it work?

But, oh man, watching TOL Adam Driver crumple before tiny tiny Carrie Fisher and that moment between parent and child... it could have been amazing.

Because the role of the authoritative parent whose acceptance you need would be the mother and the role of parent who sacrifices their life from a place of love, to give life to/for their child, would be his father, so the gender equality/gender complexity of how parental roles are structured would be complete.
