What’s In Store?
What’s in Store is a new blog series that brings you the latest and greatest finds in our local stores right now. It’s my opportunity to share the newest arrivals, of-the-moment objects, favorite brand discoveries, and other local finds you just have to know about.
THE LAUNDRESS AT JADE
I absolutely hated to clean, until I discovered The Laundress. This brand has changed my life. Literally. They removed the dry cleaner and put a spray bottle in my hand. The complete line of Laundress products is available at JADE. Please buy them locally but read their website for the tips and tricks to help you with any household situation you can conjure in your head. If ever a product has lured me in by their branding, it is this one and then it far exceeded my expectations. Buying The Laundress is like buying a snowball on a hot summer day for me and this is coming from someone who HATES to clean!

THE CLAIR CHAIR AT VILLA VICI
Let’s be honest, the ghost chair is here to stay. Well, I have sat in a ton and quite frankly, they’re uncomfortable. That’s until I found the Clair Chair at Villa Vici. It features a rounded back and a huge cushion that’s somehow still subtle. This fab chair, along with a million others, are on 20% off sale until May 12th at Villa Vici.

MATCH PEWTER AT FRIEND & COMPANY
I am currently feeling inspired by Match Pewter at Friend & Co. Nina Friend called to tell me I just had to come see it. Why such the fuss over pewter and white? Because it allows you to create the perfect backdrop for a party without being fussy. So you can use your nice stuff without feeling like it’s too special...even though it’s actually really very special!

Crisis Edited by Mitchell Gold
Crisis Edited by Mitchell Gold
The full title is Crisis: 40 Stories Revealing the Personal, Social and Religious Pain and Trauma of Growing Up Gay in America, but because it’s so long, I shortened it. I should get started on the review now, since I spent a paragraph on just the title. Description: “Hundreds of thousands of gay teens face traumatic depression, fear, rejection, persecution and isolation–usually alone.” This book…

Coffee table vignette. Design by Kendall Simmons. Photo by Leslee Mitchell.
On rainy, dreary days like today, I like to use my time indoors to get creative and productive. Activities like cleaning out closets, organizing beauty products/make up, and rearranging my home decor (or looking online for inspiration). Nerdy, I know, but it works for me. How great is this room? Part Mad Men, part modern, part space ship (a silver couch?!). I love the neutral color palette with the orange wall as the pop of color (as opposed to pillows or lamp shades). Kind of makes you want an orange wall, too, right?
