Mitsuki is a confusing one, because of how well of a poker face he has and how most of the time it’s hard to genuinely tell what emotion he’s feeling if you’re not used to his zany quirks it can be hard
Because of this it would be hard to pick up on Mitsuki’s yandere tendencies because he can suddenly appear next to you leaning close to your face and say “You took a different path to school today” and you just chuckle, classic Mitsuki
Because of his usually blunt tone a lot of people don’t realize he’s joking, which can lead to his comments being taken at face value, but since you’re his friend you can most likely tell when he’s joking if you’ve hung around him long enough
He does watch you though, he can go undetected for ages, it’s a mixture of making sure your safe and just wanting to be near you. He loves to watch you go about your daily life, He’s like a bigger stalker than his dad/mum. You think Orochimaru was sus for what he said about wanting Sasuke? Yeah think of that but it actually is as weird as you think it is
That mixed with your shy nature means he really likes to tease you, lingering touches, whispering stuff in your ear, or when you’re training together he’ll stand close behind you and grab your hand showing you how to properly do it
He’s always watching out for you, making an assumption you’re on his team going missions / stupid adventures with him he’s always going to be keeping you within touching distance / the corner of his eye
He doesn’t like it when you’re not close by but that isn’t much of a problem for him given his stretchy jutsu it doesn’t matter if your halfway across the room he’ll just reach over wrap his arms around you and pull you close to him, he tries to avoid touching more intimate parts but in the middle of a battle it can lead to mistakes, but unlike most yandere’s he fully doesn’t mean this, (but he’ll enjoy it) I mean his ‘Aunty’ in a way is Karin, and you really think she wouldn’t teach him to respect women?
He’s very clingy, but he’s always subtle enough about it to make people think their just subtle friendship touches, but lingering just enough to make your face blush and your mind start to race, he loves to see how quickly you spiral into a mess when he simply lays his hand on your shoulder
You weren’t quite sure how you ended up in this situation, you never were honestly but you had a slight hunch it had to do with being friends with Konoha’s star problem child, an Uchiha and the living embodiment of why the word personal space was invented.
But that still didn’t explain why you had to be handing by your ankle upside down next to the stone face of said problem child’s father.
How did this happen you may ask?
That’s all that needs to be said.
But if you want details Boruto wanted to deface his fathers...well face, you and Sarada were trying to stop his dumb-ass you both nearly got caught in one of the traps he’d laid. By sending a shadow clone to make it look like he was doing the graffiti in real time so when his dad came to stop him he’d be able to sneak attack him. However before he could show up you and Sarada did leading to the three of you to get in a fight, and just as Sarada chased after a fleeing Boruto you got caught in one of his snares.
Now usually you’d be able to get out of something as simple as this, but of course Boruto had infused it with his lightning chakra so you weren’t able to cut it without getting a shock.
You were starting to wonder if Sarada was going to come back for you or if you’d be stuck here all night, it was gonna get cold soon and you were hungry...damn you would love to each some barbeque meat right now, you bet Chocho was out with her dad right now feasting on all sorts of delicious well flavoured well seasoned-
You jolted, leading to your body swinging side to side lightly nearly hitting the boy in the process, he grabbed a hold of your arm to hold you steady
“You seem to be in quite the situation, how did this happen?” He asked, looking up at you smiling, you rolled your eyes at his comment,
“Ah” he laughed “that explains everything, but-” he paused, reaching his hand up he rested it on your cheek, “your face is quite red, are you feeling okay?”
Your eyes widened slightly, you were sure your heat wasn’t suppose to beat that fast but you were suddenly thankful Boruto trap had you upside down.
“I’m upside down Mitsuki” you frowned slightly, you’d never usually be this bold but the blood rushing to your brain and the fact the only thing keeping you from falling to the ground was something Boruto made. “the bloods rushing to my head and unless you get me down soon you’ll be charged will telling my grieving parents whose responsible for their little girls death”
He laughed once more, innocently smiling up at you “you are aware I would be able to catch you with my jutsu, and I know with your skills you could catch yourself as well, so why the urgency to get down?”
You huffed, embarrassed at how easily you always let this boy push your buttons; something Sarada always chastised you for, but usually all it took was for you to mention Boruto and she shut up real fast, or slap you on the head and with her mother’s strength you always preferred the former option.
“Why don’t you switch places with me and then tell me whose acting urgently”
He chuckled at your response, before raising his hands in a mock surrender
The feeling of your feet on solid ground was reliving to say the least, but the head rush that came wish it was irritating to say the least. You felt your body sway slightly in response to the dizziness but you felt your body come to a still before your mind did; leading to confusion.
Feeling your body come to rest against something soft but firm you looked up to meet the snakelike eyes of Mitsuki.
His usual blank smile was replace with a smug one “You feeling alright (y/n)?”
Once again your heart sped up against your own wishes and you pushed yourself away from him and tried to think of something, anything else that would distract you from the obvious heat running to your face.
The sun was beginning to set, you hadn’t even realized being so preoccupied with Mitsuki you had only noticed when the suns golden rays lay to rest on your face,
‘I should get home’ you thought sadly, enjoying your time with him, but before you could speak he did
“Are you hungry (y/n)?” He asked, tilting his head slightly
You flushed slightly at the idea of eating food with him, but before your brain could send a complete sentence to your mouth your stomach answered for you with a loud yes.
You blushed heavier as he laughed
“I’m going to take that as a yes, come on, let’s go to Ichiraku ramen”
You smiled, a little embarrassed but way more hungry and excited to spend time with him
“Sure! That’s actually my favourite place to eat, I go there whenever I can”
He smiled and grabbed your hand, then jumped down to the rooftops below
(God he looks so much like his father here I love it)
Much like his father he’s got resting bitch face and saying what’s on his mind and he got his sass from the both of them honestly so like his mum was the baddest bitch in konoha and his dad wore crop tops before they were popular trying to have himself a hot girl summer so to be his friend you have to be used to his attitude
Unlike Mitsuki Inojin will be more likely to figure out your true feelings, but he isn’t going to act on them straight away no its way more fun to see you get flustered
But that doesn’t mean he’s going to be a dick about it (most of the time) because he actually does like you....a lot. so even if he teases you sometimes you know you can go to him whenever you need a problem
Inojin will also be more likely to help you get out of your shell, by teasing you and being himself you’ll see him less as the perfect version of him as people do with their crushes and instead see him as he is, therefore less likely to be nervous in front of him
He likes to draw you, though he’s not obsessed with doing it as he feels he could never incorporate how he see’s you accurately into his drawings but he also likes to watch you
Inojin at his core is scared, scared you’ll find someone nicer, scared it’s just puppy love, scared of it all, He wants to pull you close to him and at the same time keep you at arms length
He’s a tough one to crack because he knows what he wants but at the same time he doesn’t
He knows he loves you, He knows he wants to be with you but he doesn’t know how he could be upfront with you without you doing the same, Unless he knows you won’t be just another reason he’s closed off
You rolled over nearly hitting your head on the wall in the process, changing your reading position again. you’d just finished a good chapter in your book when you looked over at Inojin who was happily drawing on a his beanbag in the middle of the room.
You liked moments like this, where you both could do your own thing in each others presence freely. to you it showed how far you two became as friends, as Inojin didn’t feel the need to put up a front in front of you, sometimes he just didn’t feel like being social and that was okay with you, but when you offered to leave he objected quickly
“No, I enjoy your presence”
“How’s the book?” Inojin asked, disrupting the silence to look over at you
You raised your eyebrow slightly, it had been silent for nearly an hour, why now did he feel the need to break it now?
Noticing your expression he chuckled under his breath and smiled
“You’ve been changing your reading position more often, usually you do it every twenty to fourty five pages, now you’re doing it every twenty five to thirty pages and the more you move the more you’re thinking about something”
You laughed, blushed slightly as you hadn’t realized he had been paying attention to you that whole time, and how many times had he considering how long it would usually take the work out the average of how many times someone moves after turning a goddamn page!??
He cleared his throat, and you realized you still hadn’t answered him
“Oh! Um, yes, It’s, It’s getting really good! all the little plot points are starting to link up and make sense, but....how long did it take you to count my pages?”
He smiled, putting down his pencil, a big sign of respect to you on his part “I didn’t”
“I learnt a long time ago from Shikadai if you ever want to sound smart just say something that’s grounded in reality that you know the other person isn’t likely to know”
You laughed, that was so like Shikadai “and why do you want me to think you’re smart?”
He rolled his eyes picking up his pencil again “You’ve seen me drink ink my mistake and draw in milk I think that trains left the station”
You couldn’t help but cackle at the memory, you and Chocho never let him live that down, but he seemed to tolerate you bringing it up more than he did with Chocho.
“What’cha drawing?” You asked, rolling over so you were looking at him the right way up, on your stomach propped up by your elbows instead of lying on your back
He looked back up at you, then down at the drawing
“Something very precious to me”
He smiled, “not yet, It’s not ready to be seen yet”
You frowned, “when will it?”
He shrugged his shoulders “I don’t know”
“Promise me when it’s I’ll be the first to see!” You smiled, holding out your pinky
usually you would’ve been embarrassed to be so upfront with someone, especially your crush, but you figured, with the amount of time you spend with Inojin and that both his parents know you personally, he must at least consider you a friend, and as long as you got to be near him you didn’t mind.
He looked at you, then down at his art once more, the charcoal pencil had dropped to the floor as he scanned over the details, no matter how many times he tried he could never get the look of happiness on your face quite right.

Interlocking his finger in yours that familiar feeling he felt when he was with you came back, your skin was so warm and comforting, a direct contrast to the cool unfamiliar texture of the paper.
Alright let’s get this out of the way first and foremost, Shikadai is like his father. He is smart, and while out of the three of them he’s most likely to realize your feelings from an intellectual standpoint, remember that episode where Shikamaru asks Temari to go with him to look at good places for a honeymoon for Naruto and Hinata’s wedding but FORGETS TO MENTION ITS FOR THEIR WEDDING??? AND IS CONFUSED WHEN THE WOMAN IS FLUSTERED, NEVER FIGURES IT OUT AND IS CONFUSED WHEN SHE BITCH SLAPS HIM WHEN SHE REALIZES IT FOR THE WEDDING?
Yeah Shikadai got the pure dumbassery when it comes to women from his dad
He’s still most likely to figure it out but unlike the others he isn’t going to use it to his advantage, if anything it’s going to make him less jealous, you like him, he likes you why would anyone else get in the way? (uh maybe because you haven’t TOLD her you dumbass smh)
He will enjoy it, knowing you like him will make it so much easier
Also unlike the others Shikadai won’t make an effort to tease you, while he might do it sometimes when he’s in a more playful mood
He doesn’t mind if your shy, in fact he’s probably the easier to break out of your shell with how laid back he can be and how genuine he is with people it can be easy to be genuine in return
The ino-shika-cho squad is like low-key your protection squad, Chocho will always be there to defend you from assholes and give you food / hype you up, Inojin will vent with you and genuinely go for peoples throats it makes you realize how much outta pocket shit he doesn’t say, and Shikadai is always the one who cools things down if there’s an altercation but also the first to get you away from it, doesn’t matter how involved you are he will also make himself the villain, you can be arguing with your mother and he’ll swoop in and grab you by the shoulders and say some stupid shit like “I can’t find Chocho help me” and most of the time his bullshit excuses are see though seeing as at that time Chocho was literally a few seats away from you guys
You sniffled a sneeze as the summer grass tickled your nose, leaning into the grass underneath the tree that was generous enough to provide you with a pillow you smiled serenely as you looked over to a sleeping Shikadai next to you.
You had been angry a moment ago, you had had an argument with your friend and they had said something that went too far and you needed to clear your head before you said something you’d regret, that’s when Shikadai showed up and took you to your secret place, originally his own.
You remember how embarrassed you were the first time he’d showed you this place, you knew how much Shikadai valued his quiet time so for him to show his secret place to you.....
It was a big willow tree with a dip a few feet before the roots, that combined with the bushes and grass unless someone actually made an effort to look behind what looked like thick bush they would not find you.
Just the way he liked it.
A cool breeze rustled the leaves above you, not cold enough to give goosebumps or make you want a jacket but enough to feel relaxing
The comfortable silence only filled with the sounds of the leaves rustling and Shikadai’s soft but deep breathing you closed your eyes, fully contempt to take a nap, but you we’re just about to fall into a sleepy state when the voice of said friend was calling out to you, you considered ignoring it but it seemed they wanted to apologize and make amends, and you sat up to go find them when you were grabbed by what you thought was a previously asleep Shikadai, His green eyes seemed to narrow in the direction of your friends voice as he shook his head.
“Give it some time, they can’t just apologize after saying something like that and respect everything to be okay straight away, if you forgive them straight away they’ll see it as a sign they can do it again”
“Are you sure? They sound like they really want to make amends..”
He made what sounded like the mixture of a snort and a huff “easy to want that when you weren’t the one effected by the words”
You frowned slightly, He was right, he usually was but you still felt bad leaving your friend to look for you and worry about you, but remembering how deep their words had cut and remembering how peaceful it felt before you smiled,
He wrapped his arms around you and gently pulled you back down leading to you resting your head on his chest as a response, and the comfortable position made it an easy choice.
“Stay longer, It’s better with you here”
You closed your eyes listening to his heartbeat as it started to lull you to sleep and laughed lightly, “I’d rather be here with you than with them”
