while i will be devastated if charles leaves ferrari post '26 because it's essentially him having to give up on his childhood dream of becoming a ferrari world champion, he has put up with this mediocrity and given too much of himself for too many years to be forced to stay. the team have got to give, it cannot just be him. i would rather see him be the world champion i know he can be than live in a dream where only he seems to care about the results.

I suppose it was true that the past did come back to bite you in the ass. I’d been running from it, trying to escape its grim hold, but it stood outside my door. My past was apathetic and filled with a madness that clouded my mind, blurring it of any sanity I had left. I didn’t know I was its puppet until it had cut my strings loose. However, when it found me, I was left vulnerable to its sweet words of manipulation. Each syllable that left his venomous lips poisoning my mind like the hopeless human I was to him. He stood there impatiently, sensing I was standing on the other side of the door. Another forceful knock sends a wave of distress through my spine, almost paralyzing me.

“Please, Y/N. Open the door.” He begged. I could sense the immense amount of anguish in his voice.

Patrick was convinced he’d move on from me, but just when I began to feel any happiness, there he was; like a great white shark, he could smell my delightful blood swooning in the sea of his obscurity. Although he was a handful of baggage, he was my carry-on bag, and I was okay with hauling him around, regardless of how heavy that baggage may have been. I never wanted to leave him, but he began to create these imaginative ideas that I would do so, and when he proposed that I should go, he was content with me finding the happiness I already had with him.

“I’m not going to ask you again!” He yelled.

My hand hovered over the doorknob as if it radiated with intense heat. I knew he was terrible for me, like the spoiled milk in my fridge past the expiration date. Anxiously, I licked my lips and swallowed any possibility of inviting him inside.

I gripped the frigid doorknob, which cooled my uncomfortably warm hand. Silence accompanied us, standing between us while we stared into each other’s eyes. Like a vampire, he compelled me with one look, his warm eyes gazing back at mine as if I were staring at coffee being stirred.

“Y/N, I can’t be without you.” His eyes softened. “It’s killing me.”

“You pushed me away.” I replied.

“I know that now, and I know that you’re happy without me…” His head dropped when he spoke the words of truth he didn’t wish to manifest.

I grew impatient with his game of cat and mouse. The finding me and tormenting me. Not even putting me out of my misery. “Then why are you here?”

“I need you.” His head rose, and I could see the melancholy in his eyes. The warmth of the porch lights gave him his own spotlight, catching the fall of a tear that escaped his eye. He continued. “Every day you aren’t near, I’m closer to hell than I am to heaven.”

He stepped closer, tightening the space between us. “I’d die for you, and if I ever do, I hope that heaven takes the resemblance of your presence.”

I could see my chest rising and sinking with my sense of self-control. He intruded into my space, and I allowed him to. Looking up into his eyes, I wiped away the stray tears. The calculated emotion I continued to solve each time it was presented to me. His hands found my waist, pulling me toward him. I'd... miss this. Our lips lingered against each other, and as the wind blew, cooling the late-night air, it pushed him into me, causing our lips to crash into each other.

His hands coddled my face while our lips intertwined like a knot. He pushed himself into me, making me stumble back into the house and somewhere between getting lost in our passionate kiss I slammed the door shut behind him. Once again, inviting in my past.
