On one hand I'm glad they feel they can talk about it; on the other there is something foundational about the Fear of people in real life knowing you write fic, and losing that is Changing fandoms in strange ways.

All of these things at once, yes. I simply cannot reconcile fandom content with it being general knowledge, because since I was 12 I’ve had this thing in which my fandom persona is completely separate from me irl and this is habit is just being left behind? Times are a-changing and all that, but it’s happening so fast I can’t get used to it.
There’s also the “Oh this published famous author wrote x fanfic in the past but good luck finding it because they deleted everything when they went pro because that’s how things are”. Is this just going to end too? I guess so, and that’s nice, because fandom artistic content has as much value as original art, but it doesn’t mean I wanna talk about it in person
