Why do I want this?

Monkey Kings reaction to finding out of course

He doesn’t find out until late in the game. Like near the end of season one kind of deal since he’s pretty much gone in season two

I want him to have a full mental breakdown at seeing cicada wings coming out of MK and MK just not noticing them. Like he knew his successor had this kind of pure and radiating aura around him but he thought that was just all MK and being such a nice kind with a good heart. Sure he thought he imagined his aura to be familiar to a certain long missed Master, but he thought that was just him projecting years of loneliness onto some poor kid and pushed it to the back of his mind.

But no.

Because now before him is undeniable proof that Tang “The HP of the soil is too high I think I might die” Sanzhang is reincarnated into Qi “Fuck yeah concrete!” Xiaotain.

On the surface they are completely different because while Sanzhang got bruises from the wind MK is barreling in headfirst at the first demons he sees.

But on the inside they were both good people who want to help out anyone they can find. They are the kind of people to taking puppies on rainy days, and put fish back in the ponds when they jump out. Cinnamon roll if you will.

Que Monkey King fighting his long engrained need to keep his Master out of danger with his desire to have MK become more confident in his abilities without him hovering all the time.

Sandy and Sun Wukong bonding

I have a scenario of Sandy inviting Sun Wukong over for tea and sweets.

Maybe he ask MK to give Sun Wukong the invitation due to them being closer and Sun Wukong rarely leaves his mountain. Sun Wukong is reluctant to go. He is still guilty about how he handled the whole Lacy Bone Demon situation. MK uses his puppy eyes 🥺 and some words of reassurance to get him to go. Wukong flys over to Sandy’s boat house but almost psych himself out at his door. Sandy is super happy that “Mr Monkey King” actually came and basically dragged him in.

Now inside, Sun Wukong just awkwardly standing in the living room. Sandy tells him to make himself comfortable. He leaves the room to get the tea and sweets. After sitting down, Sun Wukong noticed all the cars Sandy has. It reminds him of all the little monkeys back at home. One cat takes an interest in him and comes over to get to know the new guest. Slowly more cats come to Sun Wukong.

By the time Sandy comes back, Sun Wukong is covered in cats(like Tang was in the pilot episode). Sandy finds this super adorable but doesn’t say anything to avoid making Sun Wukong uncomfortable. The tea he brewed a tension tamer tea and the sweet are all fruit themed. Fresh and dried fruit slices and fruit tarts.

Sun Wukong jokes about it’s a nice break from peach chips and noodles. Sandy agrees that it’s to mix it up from time to time. After enjoying the tea and snack for a bit, Sun Wukong ask Sandy about all his cats. Why cats, why so many? The water demon tells him that they are his therapy cats. His doctor said that have one, along other changes could help with his anger issues. He was only planing to get one but slowly started to pick stays off the streets. Sun Wukong was surprised that Sandy of all people had anger issues. He make a joke about Pigsy’s anger. Sandy jokes back that Pigsy anger is more out of love but is mostly hot air. He is anger because he cares so much. Sandy by contrast, anger is more destructive in nature. After a sigh, he continues. He lightly touches on him past and how he doesn’t want to go back to being that person. Mo the cat comes up to comfort him. Sandy add that a car purr has multiple uses. Purring can act as self soothing mechanism, prompts milk production in mama cat, and it’s frequently can actually promote healing.

Sun Wukong ask him what made him want to change in the first place. Sandy has a flashback “ to catch a leaf” ptsd episode. Mo’s purring gets louder. Sun Wukong think he want too far and tries to backpedal a bit. He is now worried that Sandy is snap at him for being insensitive again. Instead, Sandy give Sun Wukong a sad smile. Sun Wukong is taken a back by this. Sandy finally answers him. He lost someone dear to him due to his action and it was to much for him to bear. He vowed to himself that he would never again be that kind of person. After that he retired from the battlefield and worked on himself. It wasn’t until “the pilot episode” that Sandy rejoined the battlefield. This time he wouldn’t fight but defend his friends.

Sun Wukong takes bit of the dried fruits, mulling over Sandy’s word. He tries to pick his next word carefully. He relies “ for what is worth, I think your doing a great job” Sandy blinks a few times, then smile. Telling the monkey king that he shouldn’t be so hard on himself ether. Now it’s his turn to be surprised. He quickly tries to refute the water demon. Bringing up the whole LBD situation. Asking/almost yelling at him why he isn’t mad a him. Why does he even want he around him right now. How his actions/inactions hurt him and his friends. Why would you let someone like him into his home. All the cat on and around him scatter. Sun Wukong gets even more distressed by this. Saying that even that cats don’t want be around him.

Sandy come over and gives him a hug. Sun Wukong is confused by this. Sandy tells him that self improvement is different for everyone. It isn’t always liners. It takes longer for some people to improve compared to others. Sometimes you backslide. That we tend developing bad coping mechanisms to deal the pain in our life if left on our own. We need others to push us forwards. Weather it be a doctor, therapist, teacher, family, friends, pets. Sandy reaffirms that Sun Wukong has made major improvement to himself during his time with the other Pilgrims. Comment on the fact that the old Sun Sun Wukong wouldn’t even admit his faults or show guilt. How he has been a positive influence on MK. How he show a great deal of restraint in fights. Adding that MK shared Prince Nezha’s commentary on how Sun Wukong has be holding back in fight. Sandy admits that he doesn’t still trust himself to show that much control I a fight. With part of the reason he sticks to defense. Sandy suggest that getting therapy might help him. How the even the protectors need help. Sun Wukong smile and finally hugs back all the cat slowly return.

Edit: I added back Monkey King’s last name “Sun”. I should have used his full name or his other titles when referring to him. I admittedly wrote this in the middle of the night. On a spark of inspiration and motivation. Sorry if the original post caused offense or was rude
