...i'll be honest with y'all. the paris special was great, wonderful. all of the fanon hype surrounding it and the possible new love square dynamics was neat. HOWEVER... i don't think 'emodrien' and 'emonette' were the best name choices, right?
*deep sigh*
SCARINETTE AND EDGEDRIEN WERE RIGHT FUCKING THERE--
i’ve seen a lot of new discourse on the finale as it recently came out in english and i just wanted to say, i don’t agree with most of it.
while it’s undeniable gabriel agreste has done plenty of unjustifiable things, I believe that making the wish was actually the best choice given the circumstances.
when marinette showed him emilie’s recordings, gabriel realized he (and nathalie) should have followed her instructions, but it was too late to change the outcome. gabriel himself was deteriorating, and nathalie was comatose/dead. adrien would have been left without anyone (remember that this was one of emilie’s fears).
obviously, marinette couldn’t have known he was going to sacrifice HIMSELF, which is why she initially opposed the wish. she couldn’t risk him possibly sacrificing an INNOCENT life.
after she RIGHTFULLY refused to make the wish, he knew the only possible way for adrien to have an alive parental figure was for him to make the wish.
that’s why he “betrayed” marinette’s trust.
he made the wish and, as he now understood emilie never wanted to be brought back, sacrificed his life for nathalie.
that’s it. i don’t see why so many people are making a big deal out of this saying he only sacrificed himself to avoid the “consequences of his actions”
news flash: he would have died anyways! even if he didn’t make the wish, he was literally a dead man walking.
and personally i don’t think him being regarded as an hero has something to do with his wish: it’s simply a consequence of what he told marinette. (obviously it wasn’t right to burden a little girl with that responsibility, but that’s another story)
marinette probably didn’t know what to say so she made up a story about him helping her defeating monarch so that adrien wouldn’t know. and im 90% sure that this will be brought up again in the next seasons, possibly as a way to spice up things between adrien and marinette.
note: im not in any way a gabriel apologist, but im just tired of people blatantly misunderstanding the finale ! also im open to discuss my opinions with anyone who would want to! (obviously, in a respectful way, thank you)

For the record, before someone comes into my askbox, yes, i saw what Astruc did on Twitter. No, i have never fully supported him i always had him muted but now he is fully blocked. Yes, he is an asshole that needs to grow up and realize his mistakes instead of making a tantrum.
And for Miraculous
Of course i will continue watching. The show is more than one (1) asshole person. The show will always have my fully support. What Astruc does with his public image is his problem, not the show's.
And that's all i have to say. Dont ask for what happened, just look on Twitter everything is there. I dont want to expose the name of one person (who is a friend) that was treated unfairly by this douche.
I think ppl accidentally took the blocking as "trying to silence asians" over their rep, when Thomas only seemed to do it for the sake of his mental health. I get why people might've thought tht but I wish people weren't so quick to jump to the absolute worst possibility in these situations when it was an unfortunate mistake that an entire production team didn't catch
I wouldn't use the word "accidentally" to describe this. It is human nature to have doubts and assume the worst intentions in case of miscommunication.
Plus, remember, the Koreans fans were already hurt and upset. So being met with blocking no matter if their tweets were polite or not just hurt them even more from their point of view. They felt like their pain was ignored. That the team was taking Japan side even though they were keeping silent to give themselves the time to discuss on the issue privately and see what to do in the matter.
Because, the flag is controversial. For the Koreans, it's link to the war crimes their nation lived. But for the Japaneses, the rising sun isn't just a symbol to their military, but also an integral part of their culture iconography.
That's usually why you want to avoid any controversial symbols altogether. But since the flag did end up in a broadcasted episode, now the studio has to check their options and make a choice. Unfortunately, neither Thomas nor Winny could make a public statement without consulting with their executives, the producer and other specialists first. That's why no one could say anything before yesterday.
Imo, this whole issue might take a few weeks to settle. And it will leave one unhappy party either way.
So many of the characters in miraculous ladybug are flat in terms of their characterization. Their behaviors and thoughts follow the same track and they don’t show any lasting signs of change.
Marinette is depicted as a young girl who gets jealous easily, is very helpful, and is overall a sweet girl. But those remain the traits that she is known for and they stay static. She gets jealous over adrien and wants to be with him. She helps those that need it. But any lessons that may be learned are promptly forgotten by the next episode.
Adrien’s entire personality can be summed up as a pushover nice guy throughout the show. He prefers to deescalate any situations he gets in. He generally goes with the flow. He’s sweet but lacks a spine.
Alya is stuck in the sassy black friend trope and is constantly being nosy and pushy about everything. She is the one that fires off the most quips and one liners in the civilian life. She also constantly tries to learns secrets and interfere in other peoples business(A friend shouldn’t be orchestrating a plan to set up a date when the person in question has made it clear they don’t want it).
Nino is primarily there just for a calming and tempting influence on adrien. We know maybe 3 personal facts about him that aren’t related fo adrien. He’s there to serve as a tempter for adrien to rebel and as a convient place to lay the blame for Gabriel.
Chloe is summed up as the standard school bully. She throws around her parents influence and throws a tanty when she don’t get her way, expecting everyone to bow to her whims. When she started to change, 180 right back into her bullying ways.
I still love these characters but they suffer from a severe lack of characterization and lessons actually sticking.
Everytime i reblog that rena/ladywifi post some of ya’ll always find new ways to be reaching, lmfaoo

Its okay to just say that its bad fam
Deadass I always see people be like "yeah but Adrien's a rich cis white boi so he doesn't hav it hard in his home life" like DUDE, he's neglected by Gabriel but nah the 14 year old being emotionally abused doesn't matter because tumblr says tht he has privilege
Putting a male protagonist in the position Adrien is in IS GOOD. It goes to show how often people tend to overlook male victims of abuse and harassment because, oh- you know, why bother pay attention to that. they're GUYS. suck it up right? :))) Adrien is a super interesting character, full of love despite his upbringing, in denial about his situation due to a complex relationship with his father, willing to take the shots for those he loves so dearly. By no means is this boy perfect, but the world perceives him as just that, putting more pressure onto him, to watch his steps and never talk out of turn. Emotional Responses? More like ~hysterical outbursts~, amiright? Sounds familiar? That's what women get blamed for on a daily basis. A male protagonist facing issues that people would immediately recognize if he was female goes to show the double standards and lack of media coverage on male victims of abuse.
TLDR Adrien is a very well written character, depicted realistically. It's okay to have other favorite characters or plot lines but dismissing Adrien's situation/The Agreste plotline as "an annoying pity party" goes to show how people just don't take these issues seriously when the victim of abuse/harassment is male.
