Top miraculous ladybug character I hate the least, so I think they deserve to get redesigns. Yes, Kim is my fave. Yes, Alix has a snake miraculous. Yes, Luka is in the burrow, i dont care about him. Yes, Chloe and Nate don't have superheroes versions here, sorry, I was lazy plus their suits are already peak
I haven't watched season 6 yet. Every coincidence with canon is accidental (or not), I will draw more background characters later, they are more interesting for me than adrianette anyway
I wasn't even the biggest fan of Ondine x Kim but I gotta admit I do be a sucker for the trope when the girl is taller than the boy I am weak I am simple minded but I am happy
The most recent miraculous episode has me screaming
For both good and bad reasons
I'm going to get the good reasons out of the way first because oh my God I was so oh wow
Seeing the girls talk to each other was fun
Ondines new outfit was lovely
Every new design was amazing from siren to dragon bug
All the heroes were able to fight together and help
Kim stupidity being the reason why one of the bullies just couldn't get him to stop being with Ondine
We finally get to see Kim's dad's
That shot of Kagami and Felix kissing
Speaking of kissing how could I possibly forget my ultimate favorite moment of the whole episode
(we were robbed of this moment in ruler but they obviously heard the fans cry out for this moment and gave it to us in this episode which takes place before ruler so before they reveal their identities) you got to love it
The moments of this episode that made me so annoyed and angry
They framed this whole episode as Kim's fault when that was not the case
It's obvious based off the way Kim asks in this episode and in previous ones that he's not socially aware of what's going on around him
Making it pretty darn obvious that if you're not straightforward with this boy he will not pick up on what you're trying to tell him or any social cues whatsoever
He's kind of like Adrian in that regard they both don't have much experience in the romance department when it comes to picking up on those kind of social cues
The the message the episode sends is that you supposed to talk to the people around you before jumping to conclusions and it's Dragonbug telling that to Ondine, which is good
However it gets muddled when you realize everything about the conflict of this episode could have been avoided if she hadn't beaten around the bush and just straight up told Kim how she felt
And that's the problem I have with this episode it shows that she hasn't learned a thing about Kim from the first time she was akumatized
Remember the whole reason why she became Siren in the first saga was because she kept on beating around the bush about her feelings for Kim and trying to be all romantic about it
Instead of telling him how she felt straightforward she decided to play a little game to let him realize it from a note (but once again since he doesn't pick up on social cues normally he doesn't realize she's talking about him)
And well yes he does learn his lesson and call himself out for not realizing it sooner, you have to remember the only way he was able to figure out her feelings for him was because she told him while she was akumatized
It was the same thing in Derision too because no one properly told him what he did to Marinette was not okay he didn't realize it wasn't (kind of reminds me of starlight glimmer a little bit, both characters tend to do rash and crazy things without thinking about the consequences, "ends justify the means", however sometimes they don't realize that what they're doing can be wrong but they don't do it anyway because they were told not to, unless you properly explain it to them then they won't fully understand it and might make the same mistakes)
This kid does not pick up on social cues normally romantic or just general social cues in general so them constantly trying to be all romantic and not straight up tell Kim is a problem
Plus do these girls not learn anything from marinette's romantic schemes and how much they always end in failure what were they thinking constantly trying to listen to that advice
If Ondine had just challenged him from the beginning and then got him to kiss her, most of the conflict would have been avoided
Plus they tell him to stop being gullible and naive when they finally find out that he was being manipulated by one of the bullies in the background but you cannot blame that on him they are literally trying to break those guys up by telling him stuff like that how do they not figure that out
Marinette's behavior in this episode really infuriated me because she came off as a massive hypocrite
She allowed her emotions to cloud her judgment and not call Kim during a mission where he was essential
As the episode showed thanks to his power he was able to get rid of all the water but if she had called him earlier instead of calling everyone else a lot of the problems they were facing with could have been handled easier
And then she has the audacity to get angry at him for his behavior when girl you are no better at romance than he is, and your boyfriend is not only socially inept but a massive weeb so pull your head in
She wanted to take away the monkey miraculous from him just because he accidentally hurt his girlfriend instead of properly talking to him about what in the world was going on
why didn't they talk to Max or any of the guys about this
Max not being there for Kim when he needed him was also a major shock to me because in dark Cupid the whole reason why he was able to try and romance Chloe was because he had Kim by his side but in this episode because of smart friends weren't there the poor boy fell into the wrong crowd
We all know for a fact that if Alix or Max were by his side then most of this on his end of the story could have been avoided or at least thought about more clearly
The episode even goes out of its way to show us that it's because of his naive stupidity that he was able to avoid two of the bullies plans to try and split them up
Again if Kim's girlfriend knew him as well as she thinks she knows him then she should have known that trying to beat around the bush was a terrible idea
Another interesting thing that needs to be pointed out about this episode is that it goes out of its way to once again show these kids extreme level of immaturity as she wants to be all romantic and be like a fairy tale showing how she hasn't learned from the past whenever a character tries to be all romantic fairytale ask it does not and well
As the episode would go on to say and prove a lot of these problems could have been solved with proper communication, but I hate the fact that this episode frames it as Kim's fault when Ondine is just as equally to blame and the girls too. Seriously why couldn't we see this episode a little bit from the guy's perspective as well, why didn't anyone think to go talk to them and ask them for help when it came to getting Kim and Ondine to kiss.
Plus with the way Kim was acting this whole episode it very much makes me wonder if he's neurodivergent (ADHD) and just never got tested (like Marinette) because not picking up about social cues is one thing, but the fact that he didn't pick up on the Pocky game social que kind of makes me seriously wonder if it's more than just him needing to be told straightforwardly what if he's near a divergent and just never knew and so he just can't pick up on social cues like most other people can, (or maybe another the reason why he doesn't pick up on it is because his dad's don't do that kind of stuff often they're more straightforward with each other and so he just mirrored that more since that was what he was surrounded by, maybe their way of romance is different than how Ondine wants it to be, but he doesn't know that because again he is kind of not there when it comes to romance)
(the whole episode I was just screaming at the girls to just go up and talk to him be straightforward and tell him how you feel stop trying to be all romantic, because it will not end well and I was right. They've learned nothing from marinette's disastrous experiences with romance have they, and Ondine clearly doesn't know her boyfriend as well as she thinks she does if she thought any of what she was trying to do (before her idea of challenging him) was a good idea. the challenge was the smartest idea she had that whole episode)
But yeah other than all of the gripes I just mentioned this episode was another fantastic one and goes out of its way to have the character who defeated the villain be the one connected to them in one way or another but seriously though can we not have an episode where Kim stupidity is his fault it's not fair because it makes him both characters like him seeming stupid is a bad thing, (seriously though is this boy neurodivergent I'd like to make a theory about that)
(what I do find interesting is how they handle the miscommunication throughout this episode because it felt like real life couples, specifically married couples. How one of them not telling the other that they love them, or showing them the kind of love they want can cause that person to feel bad, meanwhile the one not showing them that kind of love had no idea because they didn't tell them. I think that's a good underground message for kids and for adults in general we need to remember that as we move forward especially if someone you know is in a relationship and needs a gentle reminder of this)
Rounding out the cast of the Heathers AU! We have Luka and Kim in the Kurt and Ram roles and Marinette as Martha Dunnstock!
(originally it was Theo Barbot [from Copycat] and Kim but ehhh recognizability is probably better and I was encouraged by mutuals to continue the trend of skeevy Luka)
( ^ another point to how this au is actually pro lovesquare propaganda because adrien not going that route only causes more suffering and pain for everyone involved lolol)
