Cursed/Banished Miraculous
So I know Miraculous Ladybug is a kids show but as a writer, I can't help but think of new and cool concepts. I feel like the new seasons could have lot of cool potential as long as they don't recycle stuff over and over again. I do wish that we could of had the newest season be where our good old protagonists graduate, NOT FOR WEIRD ADULT STUFF, but to be able to push the boundaries of the villains and concepts just a bit. And to see a certain blonde be absolutely screwed over when she can't rely on anyone for college. The Chat Blanc episode? Absolute Cinema. I was very glad to see our beloved cat boy break loose.
But I feel like the Miraculous history could be greatly expanded on. For example, there are other miracle boxes and kwami that haven't really been expanded on enough. For example, why don't we have a spider kwami? Or a octopus kwami? They are cosmic, spirit-like entities who embody "abstract" concepts that are formed whenever a new abstract idea, concept, or emotion comes into existence in the universe, such as creation, love, beauty, and mathematics. SO in theory, this could also include stronger or more negative emotions as well.
So, I'm about to do a bit of a OC or AU lore dump I guess? It could be absolute garbage and I'm putting way too much lore into a kids show but hey, I'm a writer. There are FAR worse things we can picture. So if y'all want to read, go right ahead. Have a fantastic day, wether you entertain my lore or not. If you want to skip to the cursed/banished Miraculous bits, just scroll down to the bottom. I just like adding background and I actually had a lot of fun with this XD
Hey! Your still here! Great! Let's get started! Get some snacks, maybe hydrate as well. And put on chapstick. Health is important.
Anyway, I'm sourcing the canon lore from the wiki fandom, some I'm not just going to go completely off the rails. I'ma put quotes around it to indicate that it's from the wiki.
"All of the Kwamis know each other and journeyed across the universe for eons. During their travels, they found their way to Earth and at some point discovered their magical powers, born from the abstract concepts that they respectively embody, with Plagg using his powers to cause the extinction of the dinosaurs. That's when the kwamis realized, even though their powers were great, they were too strong and unfocused, leading to great damage."
So this also means that emotional concepts, both good and bad, can form kwamis. Apparently, it wasn't till a Chinese mage 5000 years ago created the first Miraculous', so they could manifest in a physical form to interact with humans. Now, this is where things get a bit muddy in the lore, because we don't know much about what happened to kwamis during human history. We've had a LOT of bad stuff happen from wars, atomic bombs, revolutions, The Crusades, the Black Death, SOOOO many things that could possibly be due to Kwamis or greatly influence them according to the miraculous lore. Plagg destroying the freaking dinosaurs proves that.
Now, 3,000 B.C is about 5000 years ago when the Chinese mage created the miraculous, which was the Bronze Age. This also means that until the Order was created, Kwamis basically had lots of freedom as they were able to interact with humanity for the first time. I'm not sure if the Order was immediately created after the Chinese mage created the miraculous but I think if a Chinese mage in 3,000 B.C can figure out how to make a miraculous, then so can other civilizations.
According to wonderful Google, in China, 3000 B.C. falls within the Late Neolithic period. They had just established farming, stone tools, and settled down in one place. At the time, North America was also in a similar state by learning to fish and use copper. South America had full on trade routes and pyramids back then and Egypt was doing amazing too! If the Chinese could do it when they were in the Late Neolithic Period, then I promise you that the Egyptians, Native Americans, Africans, Europeans, Mongols, Mayans, Japanese, maybe even the Aztecs would have been able to figure it out.
Except the Australians, no offense. You should read about Australian history, it's really wild, they basically burned down their entire continent due to hunting practices of setting things on fire to hunt animals. They didn't really... Progress much until colonial times.
Where was I?
Oh right, got carried away there. XD
With each culture, there is a lot of rich history there as well as concepts and emotions that the Kwamis could have definitely fed off of. Both good and bad, for example, the Aztecs were quite possibly the most violent culture in the world. There is absolutely no way that a kwami of literal battle or murder didn't exist because of them. Looking at the list of miraculous and kwami, there are so many creatures and concepts that could become kwami because of interactions with humans. Kwamis love humanity as a whole, as it is their job to protect them.
So let's say, some Kwamis loved humanity... too much.
Thus, we arrive at my idea of cursed or more accurately, corrupted Miraculous' and Kwami. I'ma have a lot of fun with this concept as I am very sad that I'm trash at art. I'd love to give y'all a visual.
So let's say that when kwamis were able to interact with humanity, everything was amazing. They were able to help people, get a good sense of the world around them, and care about them. Tikki, as we know, is the eldest Miraculous, so she's probably used to all the suffering and loss at a holder dying of old age or violent causes. It doesn't make it easier, but she has a wisdom that it's meant to happen eventually and the pain is worth the happy moments. For younger ones however, who still need to find their concepts and what they stand for, things might be a lot harder. This leads to attachment and... Instability.
So, if you were a immortal being with powers that could blow up an entire species on accident, and were absolutely tired of seeing the mortals you care about die over and over to the point of frustration, what would you do? You would do one or more of these four things.
A: You would try and make your mortal stronger, faster, and more powerful to overcome.
B: You would lash out, maybe even hold a grudge or even hatred against humanity for dying too easily.
C: You would love and try and do your best so your mortal is remembered no matter what.
Or D, what most Kwamis chose: Remember and move on with difficulty, life is moving as it should.
The pain either caused desperation, rage, or obsession with humanity for these poor Kwamis. So much, that their emotions and essence began to change their holders as well...
It's been proven that Kwamis' personalities and state affect their holders, it made Marinette more confident, it made Adrian more playful and flirty, and even killed and put Adrian's mother in a coma when the peacock miraculous was damaged. So, if a kwami beginning to show signs of a deteriorating emotional or mental state, this could harmfully effect their holders.
And harm them it did.
Holders of the Kwamis affected started to shift, as the features once part of their costumes became part of their day to day lives. At first it was harmless, tails and an extra pair of ears did nothing but catch suspicious stares but they could still be hidden. But then their biology started to shift and change with fangs, horns, venom, giving birth to new cunning and violent races of instinct. Becoming the embodiments of the Kwamis representation. To make things even worse, the use of cursed miraculous' became an addiction of power, twisting its holder into obedience to the Kwamis demand.
When this started to happen, the intact Kwamis came together in a meeting, but it was decided that they couldn't harm their brethren so easily. What really set everyone off was the Black Death.
It was originally an accident. The Rat Kwami, Scamper, was having a terrible time. Scamper was hungry, unbelievably hungry as he started eating so much of the grime and trash in medieval Europe. This was due to his grief of losing his latest holder who was very kind to him. His holder was getting sick, very sick outside of the country side. For months, his new holder was showing signs of the corruption that Scamper's mental state was causing. That grief started to give way to more hunger, more anger, until it manifested into a gluttony that couldn't be tamed.
His new holder felt this gluttony, going feral as they started to eat rats in the streets. Lymph nodes started to appear on the holders body as his rat tail thrashed, tearing into whatever it could find. Unfortunately, the dead rats blood became tainted with the strange sickness and rats being rats, consumed the blood, and thus, the Black Death killed a third of all Europe before it was stopped by the Kwamis by using all their power. In the end, they realized the pure horror that was being unleashed.
One by one, all the remaining Kwamis traveled across the globe to eliminate all new species created by the corrupted Miraculous'. It took many many years, but they were able to get everything under control again. The corrupted Kwamis however... They didn't recover.
Forced by their lack of recovery, Tikki and Plagg worked together to seal the corrupted into a vault, locked away deep in a temple where only a non-corrupted Miraculous' could unlock it's magic lock. The corrupted, though asleep, still remember what the others did... And they never forgave them.
And we are done with the main lore! Wow! This took me quite a bit of time. Now, onto the fun bits! Character Building! I'm just going to do one and do a series because all this lore is WAYYY longer than I thought it was going to be, so if y'all want a specific animal, comment! I'll do it completely free and/or anonymous if y'all wish. :)
The Jaguar Miraculous, Miraculous of Rage and Sacrifice:
This corrupted Kwami is named Yaotl, meaning warrior. Originating in the Aztec culture, he was greatly revered by them and was even known as one of the gods. Constantly dressed in warpaint and blood on his fangs, he has a very aggressive but passionate personality, as he was fiercely protective of his people and his culture. He loved warfare and bloodshed, as he saw it as an act of great passion and honor for his people and the gods. Because of the Aztecs, he was incredibly used to sacrifice and violent acts in the name of the Aztec. He was incredibly happy with the arrangement.
Everything changed when the Spanish invaded Central Mexico. Yaotl's people were deemed savages and were slaughtered by them with weapons he hadn't seen before. Spanish steel cut right through the brittle armor of the Aztecs while small pox soon ravaged the survivors. To make things even worse, Stompp, the Bull Kwami of Determination, also helped in the invasion with his holder in the name of the Spanish. Yaotl's status as a god was stripped away from him, completely dishonorably. He never recovered, as he made Stompp his nemesis...
Yaotl soon snuck on a Spanish ship back to Spain where he took a new host, as his old one died at the end of the Spanish conquest. Yaotl, full of anger and the desire for vengeance of his people, twisted his holder to have fangs, a jaguar tail, jaguar ears, and a passion level very close to the surface. His holders also began to have an unquenchable taste for blood and sacrifice, which caused him to become best friends with the Corrupted Lion Miraculous, Maxima. Maxima came to be during the Roman Empire and helped spread it's influence before it fell. Because of this, she and Yaotl have a deep connection of losing their nations and influence. Until he was sealed away with the other corrupted, Yaotl participated in all wars the most he could, especially against the Spanish.
Yaotl's weapon of choice for his holder was two macuahuitl's, a club like weapon with obsidian blades on the edges. Here's a lovely picture.
Using these weapons, Yaotl and his holders became extremely dangerous and violent in battle. Yaotl's special ability made this so much worse however.
After saying, "Rip and Tear!" Yaotl's holders will suddenly get a burst of energy, strength, and speed that will push them to the absolute limit to the point of pure exhaustion and drop their holders blood sugar, making the need to rip into high calorie meals or meat much greater than before. Along with this boost, the holder will also feel a pure unstoppable rage that will make it extremely hard to tell friend from foe. This rage and boast can also be extended to others, making this an extremely dangerous ability.
The corrupted Jaguar Miraculous is a necklace/gold choker with an bone carved tiger amulet in the middle. To activate it, all you would need to shout is, "Yaotl! For Huitzilopochtli and Blood!" Huitzilopochtli is the god of war in the Aztec pantheon, so Yaotl believes showing thanks to him is a good thing to do for good luck in the battle to come. To deactivate the miraculous, saying, "Yaotl, Ixtlilton preserve us..." Ixtlilton was the god of medicine, be he was also said to help children sleep. Yaotl actually has a bit of a soft spot for children, as he witnessed the Aztecs often sacrifice them for the Rain God. Although these children were treated with honor at the time, he refrains from hurting children in battle or raids, as he deems it dishonorable to fight someone who isn't ready to fight yet at such a young age.
Anyway, we are done! You made it to the end! Thank you so much for seeing my lore dump about this AU or OC or whatever it is. I love writing and history, even if this is just a cringy kids show. Anyway, if you want to request a certain animal miraculous, I can definitely do that for fun. Byyyeeee :D
