Nathalie Post Gabriel’s Death Headcanons
Note: Dw chat I know it’s been a hot minute but at least I’m not dead like Gabriel. I missed you guys so much and as my way of making it up to you, I present to some angsty gabenath headcanons 🤭
Nathalie did not cry immediately after Gabriel died, not because she did not care or miss him, but because her brain could not process or comprehend the fact that he was actually gone. She kept unconsciously waiting around, expecting him to return.
Nathalie still makes Gabriel’s coffee every morning and prepares his meals out of habit.
Nathalie does not go into Gabriel’s office, nor does she attempt to move or get rid of any of his things. She leaves his office exactly as it was.
On nights when Gabriel’s absence is really affecting her, Nathalie will sleep in some of his old clothes and (or) just hold them close to inhale what is left of his scent.
Sometimes (more often than she’d like to admit) Nathalie finds herself talking to Gabriel in her head. She imagines his responses and she can feels like she can clearly hear his voice, almost as if he were standing right next to her. Sometimes she catches herself responding out loud and feels an immediate wave of shame.
Adrien has witnessed her having these conversations but he never says anything so as not to upset or humiliate her.
Nathalie doesn’t have the heart to cancel Gabriel’s phone plan and out of habit from being his personal assistant, she will still answer any phone calls he receives.
Nathalie has spent far too many nights admiring Gabriel’s unfinished design sketches and trying to imagine what he would add to them if he were still alive.
Nathalie doesn’t allow herself to cry or mourn Gabriel in front of anyone, least of all Adrien. She only allows herself to really let her emotions out when she’s locked in her room and is 100% certain that she is alone.
When Gabriel’s memorial statue was built, Nathalie ensured it was placed next to Emilie’s so that they could be symbolically reunited even after death.
Gabriel always liked drinking black coffee and now that he’s gone, Nathalie often finds herself ordering it to drink.
Nathalie refused to take any interviews from the press or media after Gabriel’s death.
Although she held great resentment towards Gabriel towards the end of his life, she tries to keep his image as positive as possible, especially to Adrien. She tries to remind Adrien of the “good times,” despite the fact that there weren’t all that many. That being said she is always willing to listen to Adrien if he ever wants to share his feelings.
Nathalie doesn’t like to keep pictures of Gabriel around because every time she looks at them she is met with the face of the man who had both ignited and broken her heart.
Nathalie cannot fathom the fact that Gabriel gave up his life to save hers. She is tormented by extreme survivors guilt.
